Make Up - Face Review: Make Up Urban Decay

Review: Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray

If you remembered sometime beginning of December I bought Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray from my favourite eBay Malaysia seller. After using it for a good 2 weeks now, I’m ready for a review 🙂

Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray 118ml – RM75 (Retail price RM109)

De-Slick absorbs excess sebum and deflects surface shine with state-of-the-art light dispersing particles. The problem-solving, hypoallergenic formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it endures ALL DAY. This is a patent pending Temperature Control Technology that actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place. The sprayer, unlike others on the market, delivers a micro-fine mist that distributes product evenly over the skin.

Simply mist De-Slick on in an “X” and “T” formation before applying your makeup, then repeat after your makeup is completed to set it (making sure to shake the bottle before each use).

I’ve actually tried a few method i.e. mist in an “X” and “T” formation before make up only, “X” and “T” formation before and after make up and even mist “X” formation before make up and “T” formation after make up. I wanted to find the best way for my liking which explains the numerous different method.

De-Slick doesn’t have strong alcohol scent. It certainly smell “fresh” to me. It’s quite wet after spraying especially if you are following the instruction to mist “X” and “T” formation but dries down quickly too. I usually scrub my lips after misting while waiting for it to dries up 🙂

On the first day, I only mist once which is before make up.

I didn’t find my skin really matte the whole day. I started to see shine after a few hours and only blotted once. Not too bad.

On second day I mist both before and after make up.

The weird thing is I find my skin is more oilier than yesterday. Which is also the day where I only mist before make up. I blotted 2 -3 times on the second day. Sorry! The difference is not very visible in the pictures. But you can see that my nose is more oilier than the first day. I’m quite pleased with my cheeks and forehead though. The area seems more matte than usual.

From the third day onwards, I only mist “T” formation before make up and “X” formation after make up. I find this works for me.

The question now is will I repurchase this from Sephora after finishing this bottle? The answer is no. I find this not the best for Malaysia’s hot and humid country. Most oversea reviews online said that this works wonderfully for them. That’s because the weather is not as hot as ours and not as humid as ours. Which explains why it doesn’t work for me.

Well. I guess the search for the best oil control product is back on. Do you have any good product to share? Please do.
