American Tourister

My Luggage Brand Choice – American Tourister

Each time I’m on the search of luggage bag, I have a massive headache. Who doesn’t like to travel in style? I do! I’m super selective with my luggage. But nicer looking luggage bag is always on the costly side. On a recent Jcard voucher day at 1 Utama, I went to have a look at the luggage bag department. Of all sizes and choices, I kinda like the one by Elle. It’s a leather-like bag which cost RM800! After just 15% discount it’s still very costly. I went back to Clarins counter and have a chat with Fennie. She said something which gave me a wake up call on what I’m looking for. She said we only need to spend around RM200 for luggage bag so that you won’t feel heartache when they throw your bag around in the airport or if your bag is lost. So true. She added that RM800 and RM200 is the same usage. True again. Fennie piece of advice is to look at retail shop instead of department store.

Then I remembered something. My ex-colleague once bought a American Tourister who’s the sister brand of Samsonite. I think hers cost around RM550. Which is considering cheap if compare with the Elle that I like. I know they have a shop at Jalan University but I was too tired to go. So I decided to go the next week if I’m around that area. I went home searching for American Tourister Facebook page for product price and I kinda like Prismo. The medium one is just around my budget of RM500. The next day at work my itchy hand flipped through Isetan online newsletter (again) and I saw a SUPER WEEKEND Deals promotion for the last 3 days for American Tourister! It’s RM149 only for Smart 55cm Upright!! At that time I have no idea how big or small that is. All I know is that it’s super cheap as American Tourister FB page said their price is fixed everywhere. So I’m pretty sure Isetan have something on for this brand since it’s their Anniversary Sales. Unfortunately It’s not available at Isetan 1 Utama. I have 2 RM10 voucher (which is yet to be collected) which only can be use at that particular store. Adding up to my current RM80, I could save RM100 🙁

I patiently waited for Friday to come. Silly me thinking the whole town is gonna storm to Isetan to grab this hahaha. To my disappointment (there’s always one since it’s so cheap) they only have lots of blue and two purple and it’s small size. I checked out medium size and to my delight the sales guy said there’s black available. Still can’t decide on small or medium (small seems big outside), the sales guy offers to open up for me to see. Okay. It’s really small inside. Then I told him to open up the medium size. Much more better. Not too big or small inside. Although outside looks huge. Then I asked if it’s on discount. He said it’s on 30% discount! Next question to him is what’s the retail price. He replied *heart racing fast* RM320! After discount would be RM224. Phew. Almost half of my budget. Then he said something that really makes me nervous. He said “I’m not sure if I really have the black. I need to check”. Another heart racing moment. But he disappear only for 1 minute into the store and came out with my bag! That fella nearly make me faint. Upon check out at the cashier counter, I presented RM80 cash voucher and I only paid RM144 =P. What a happy day!

Enough of the rambling. Let me present to you my new luggage bag! This is American Tourister Smart Spinner 69cm!

Super cool. Sturdy but light weight, comes with a fixed combi lock, push button trolly, so easy to move around with this too. How do you like my new luggage bag? =)
