Review: Flawless Face with BeautéCa™ Beauty Sponge

Not a pro in doing makeup? No worries. All you need is a beauty sponge!

Today I’m going to review a Beauty Blender dupe for applying liquid foundation which is equally high performance as the original one. The original Beauty Blender is not accessible here in Malaysia that easily. So far I only saw an online store selling and it’s expensive! I’m not gonna spend near to RM200 for a sponge LOL! Just in case you’re wondering what the heck is Beauty Blender sponge? Here you go.

The dupe; BeautéCa™ beauty sponge is available at SaSa outlet for RM12+. Can’t remember the exact price. It comes in a few colors. My first is blue. I went back 2 weeks after that to get a pink. I actually took the product picture long time ago. Kinda lazy to retake so bear with me on the picture quality 😛

The packaging is nothing luxurious. Don’t expect it to be like how Beauty Blender is packaged ya.

The first time I read the description on the back, I couldn’t understand how to use it properly as I wasn’t paying attention. After reading for the second time I finally get it.

The sponge is not very big before in contact with water. Once you put it under running water it will swelled up as huge as this.

The proper way to prep the sponge is:
1) Put under running water until it swelled up.
2) Squeeze all water out and place in towel or tissue (I’d suggest to use kitchen towel tissue) and squeeze the remaining water out before use.

Normally I’d dispense some liquid foundation on the back of my hand and add more as I go if it’s not enough.

Then I’ll take my sponge and dab on some of the liquid foundation that was on the back of my hand.
Next. Just bounce the sponge on my face!

The result…a flawlessly smooth face without all the streak lines. The coverage is sheer at first maybe due to the damp sponge but it’s buildable don’t worry. If you think that you need more coverage just dab on more liquid foundation. One thing I notice is that my face is more moisturized whenever I used the sponge to put on liquid foundation.

Another tip. If you think that your face is too oily after using this, just use a tissue…laid it on your face part by part or only at the part of face where it gets oily easily. Press gently. This is to remove excess oil from the liquid foundation so your face will stay matte longer.

Washing this could be troublesome. I’d wash it once every two usage using Daiso Sponge Cleanser. I put the sponge back to it’s original shell tray so when the sponge dries up it will go back to it’s original shape.

BeautéCa™ Beauty Sponge is available at all SaSa outlet.
Price: RM12+ (can’t remember)

  • Would u prefer this over fingers application Fiona?
How about the foundation usage? More needed???

    • Actually I started using liquid foundation using this sponge and not finger surprisingly hehe. I don’t really like to dirty my fingers so thus the sponge usage.

By right it should use lesser foundation but it also depends on how heavy you want it to be. As it gives a flawless finish without looking too heavy I actually use lesser. If I want to cover more I just dab more. Really depends :).

For you Gin I think you’d use lesser. You don’t have marks to cover like I do LOL

  • Can I substitute liquid foundation with BB cream? This seems fun.

    • Yes you can. I’ve tried with Estee Lauder BB Cream 😉

      • Yay. A new toy then. Usually I use my fingers to apply BB cream. Will check it out at SaSa tomorrow.

          • Besides being cheap, it is easy to use especially for a noob. Lol

          • Hehehe noob. You’d need a few practices to get it right :). Don’t go bleh on the first usage ya lol!

          • Forgot to get it today ==’ was at KLCC and MV.

          • It’s okay. Get it another time 🙂

  • hmm… semm very useful. Everytime after I done with my foundation, my hand are full with the foundation. then I use toothpaste to wash my hand lol
but washing this like quite troublesome right? you wash it every two usage…. erm will the sponge become hard (dry out) after your first usage?

    • Toothpaste? I use hand wash to wash off the dirt from my hand. You don’t need toothpaste ler.

Actually SaSa sales girl told me to wash once a week. I like it to be more clean so I wash it every two usage. It’s a sponge. Sponge don’t get harden LOL!

  • I tried not washing it after use but the ff. day the sponge becomes hard because of the liquid make-up I suppose so it doesn’t mean it’s a sponge (soft) it will not become hard. This is based on my own experience. Just letting you guys know. tnx!
