Clarins Review: Skin Care Skin Care - Sunblock/Sunscreen

Review: Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection SPF40 UVA-UVB/PA+++ (Beige)

Phew what a long name for a sunscreen!

I asked in Facebook yesterday what should I blog about and a few of you gave me your suggestions. Thank you for that. You gave me a few idea :). Stay tune! I have a confession. It’s not for “tomorrow” post but for 2 days after that as I always blog ahead. You’re reading this today because I swapped it haha. I have quite a number of products that I wanted to talk about but I wouldn’t wanna jam the blog with review everyday. Then I have a problem. I can only do product review because I have the pictures ready. If I change my blog direction for the day I don’t have any images! Now that the secret is out, let’s move on shall we?

For today I decided to introduce you to another version of sunscreen by Clarins. I reviewed Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection (Tinted) before. Earlier this year Clarins added Beige into their UV Plus HP family. So now we have Neutral, Tinted and Beige.

Just like it’s brother and sister there’s no difference in terms of packaging, content ml and design for Beige. In fact Neutral and Tinted had undergo a packaging and logo revamp earlier somewhere early this year. If you are a new user to Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection you might want to be aware of content oozing out after shaking the bottle.

I find that the nozzle is suitable for sunscreen. It’s easy to dispense the right amount of content onto the palm without a glitch.

Neutral will appear transparent after applied while Tinted will gave the face a hint of glow. I used to skip foundation and proceed to pressed powder after applying Tinted as it gave a teeny weeny coverage. But what about Beige? Beige on the other hand is so much different from Neutral and Tinted. Beige gave me a more coverage with foundation color on although the texture is the same with Tinted. Once applied on my face it looked like as if I had foundation on.

If I need as much as 20 cent amount for Tinted, with Beige I only need 5 cent and sometimes 10 cent when I feel like I need more.

Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection comes with SPF40 UVA-UVB/PA+++. I always hear people telling me the higher SPF it is the oilier it gets. I don’t experience that with Clarins. Neutral and Tinted is more “wet” but Beige is slightly on the drier side thus giving me a complete matte look. Totally love it. Sunscreen that is matte. Not often we see that right?

Sunscreen are to be applied after skin care before makeup. Just warm the product with both palm and pat gently onto the whole face. DO NOT rub in as it flakes. Normally after applying this sunscreen I will let it set for a while before proceeding with makeup just like what I always do when layering skin care. If you applied this alone you need to properly remove it thoroughly as it contain SPF.

Here’s the Before and After comparison picture. The coverage is superb but do not over-apply this. I’ve learnt that your makeup will looked a bit cakey if you slap on more than enough of this Beige sunscreen due to it’s coverage. I personally experienced it before as I dispensed too much onto my palm. At the beginning I’m not sure how much I need and I’m too used to 20 cent of Tinted. Not wanting to waste I just pat on all of it 🙂

If you feel like skipping your liquid foundation and just wanna proceed to powder by all mean you can do so. This give me a decent coverage with the right amount without cakey or patchy on me after makeup. It is the only sunscreen that I’ve used and been using it since then. Currently I’m rotating between Tinted and Beige.

Are you liking this award-winning sunscreen too?

  • I have many sunscreens at home but I don’t really use it since both my moisturizer and BB cream has SPF. I’m not fond of sunscreen as well because it makes my skin dry.

    • Normally moisturize and BB cream’s SPF is not high enough. For me that is :). Dry? I’ve never heard that babe. I’ve heard skin gotten oily but not dry hehe

  • Yes, drying. That’s why I am very hesitant and reluctant to slap on some sunscreen on my face. There’s a brand who claims that their sunscreen is good, and not drying. I forgot which brand..

    • Oh. Try to take a 3ml sample from Clarins to try babe. Either Neutral or Tinted. It’s a bit wet if you slap on 20 cents like I do haha

    • Actually that’s what I was taught at my 1st workshop with Clarins as a new member :P. I find that patting it on the skin is better than rubbing in. Glad to hear you find the method works!

      • Does it means all Clarins product using ‘patting technique’?

        Reply
        • I believe so as I’ve been using patting technique for all their products 😉

  • Actually, I have neutral and tinted. Fell in love with the neutral one, then the tinted one. I use a light motion to apply it on my face. Still, I dislike using sunscreen. I find it drying, even this one.

    • Aiyoh. Maybe because I moisturized my face with a few layers of skin care so maybe that’s why I don’t feel drying 🙂

  • This was one of the products that I really wanted to try when I was looking for a sunscreen product. From my past few visits to Clarins counter to request for sample sachet, they said it’s out of stock. Anyhow, this is one of the highly raved product. Will drop by again to try 🙂

    • Yes it is. Highly raved sunscreen but after finishing 2 bottles in my stash I wanna try other brand like RMK and Shiseido 🙂

  • So far I am using Biore and Hada Labo. Biore one is super good for oil control because it contains alcohol. When I wash my face at the end of the day, it really dries up my face :S Hada Labo is ok, so far the most affordable and also decent quality. For the longest time I was one of those who never used any sunscreen until my beautician told me of the dark spots forming on my cheeks…Generally I think Japanese cosmetics brand has quite good sunscreen.

    • I agree. Japanese brands are not bad :). I’ll try Biore and Hada Labo next time too
