Clinique Make Up - Lips Review: Make Up

Review: Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balm, Everyone’s Favorite Tinted Lip Balm

I don’t know what took me so long to get Clinique Chubby Stick but I’m glad I jumped into the “Chubby Stick Bandwagon” recently as I picked up their Christmas 2012 Limited Edition Whole Lotta Color set.

The reason why I’d rather get a set full with minis rather than one full size stick is because I want to try and explore more colors on me. If I were to stand in front of all the Chubby Stick at Clinique counter I knew I won’t be able to decide THE ONE color that I like so a set is always good as a start :). Plus they are minis…it’ll finish up in no time.

In this Whole Lotta Color set there’s 5 mini Chubby Stick. Each Chubby Stick is at 1.2g which is almost half of full size of 3g. Before this there is only 8 shades for you to choose from. Just recently Clinique added another 8 more new shades into the range making the total of 16 shades available.

In my set there is 2 new shade included to my delight. These shades are Oversized Orange (NEW!) and Curvy Candy (NEW!) which is my favorite of all. The other color in the set are Super Strawberry, Richer Raisin and Chunky Cherry.

What is Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balm in a nutshell? It is a super-nourishing balm which is loaded with mango and shea butters. Just what dry, delicate lips need to feel comfortably soft and smooth. Sixteen natural-looking lip tints in all, each with a subtle sheen.

My mini Chubby Stick comes in an exact replica of the full size except for the cap. The mini one had clear plastic cap while the full size one comes with a silver metal-coated plastic cap. The stick is chubby in size of course. Fits on my palm perfectly. Just cute and lovely.

My set of minis contain mostly pink which by the way is just right down my alley. Hitting me straight at my soft spot. The only color that I’m not really keen with is Richer Raisin. I don’t wear dark lip color as it makes me look older 🙁

Here are the swatches on my arm. As you can see it’s just any other lip balm expect that it’s tinted / colored. Don’t expect the color to be as intense and full as normal lipstick cause it doesn’t except for certain darker color.

Instead of doing one by one review I thought why not do it all one shot in the same post. I’m gonna spam you with my picture wearing all Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balm hehehe.

First up…Super Strawberry! This would be the 2nd shade that I like from the set.

Oversized Orange. As the name suggest the color is…well…orange. If you keep on layering it’s really orangey and the color could go slightly deep and intense. I wore this to my cousin sis wedding ceremony but in just 1 light coat and it turns out really gorgeous.

My favorite shade of all is Curvy Candy. The shade is soft and in real it’s like my lip color but of course better. That’s what other people say MLBB! Haha! I dropped it on the floor and now the tip is dented. Grrrrr!

The shade that makes me look like vampire is Richer Raisin. Maybe I should be more light-handed with this in order to finish the tube.

Another darker color in the set is Chunky Cherry. Although it’s darker pink / towards red but I think it looked good on me. If you seen me at events you’d know that I’m always with my red Dior lipstick and surprisingly I can carry red. I’m also liking this.

I’d normally apply Chubby Stick right before leaving my house to work. After breakfast in the office the lip balm still pretty much intact. I only reapply after lunch and it lasted till the end of the day after sips and sips of drinks. The staying power is pretty amazing if you ask me. If my lips are dry in the morning this Chubby Stick doesn’t help much. It doesn’t cover the lines nor moisturize my dry chappy lips. The color however still stay on despite the dryness. On a good day this goes on smoothly, moisturizing and with good staying power. Let’s hope I won’t get too hooked up with Chubby Stick and neglect my lipsticks!

My advice is DO NOT DROP THIS ON THE FLOOR. I dropped Curvy Candy the other day on the floor and the pointy head decapitated LOL. In layman term…the pointy head broken from the lip balm body. I know it’s hard not to drop anything on the floor especially if you are as clumsy as me but just be extra careful when handling this 🙂

Conclusion. I love this Chubby Stick! I have a full size version of Heaping Hazelnut bought using my RM40 Metrojaya Cash Voucher. That would be a separate review in the future when I’m done with these 5 minis ya.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balm is available at all Clinique counter nationwide.
Price: RM58 for 3g (Full Size). The one I reviewed is 2012 Christmas Set called Whole Lotta Color (RM110) which is Limited Edition and may already sold out.

  • Tinted lip balm? I came across it many times but never tried it, not even at the counter. The colors are sweet. Thinking to do some Xmas shopping soon.

    • Yes tinted lip balm. This might be OOS already.

  • Maybe, have to check it out. It’s ok if it’s OOS. It’s beyond my control, haha. I hope it doesn’t dry my lips. I don’t have a good experience with tinted lip balm so far.

      • I’ve been wondering about this for a long time. Do you have fussy lips? As in, you can only use expensive stuff on your lips etc. Otherwise, it’s breakout and god-knows-what-else. I don’t know is it me or is it the product itself but I can’t use certain products from certain brands because it gives me breakout (skincare), pimple on lips (lipstick/lipgloss), dry skin (bodycare). That’s all I can remember for now. That’s bf said I am expensive -_-

        • No I don’t. I can put anything on my lips 😉

          • Good for you. I wish I could do the same for myself.

          • Having “expensive” skin is not bad. Treat it as pampering haha

  • I also saw Revlon one~~~ look so similiar with this Clinique Chubby stick neh~ ^___^ is the Revlon on is tinted lip balm too?

    Reply
    • Yeap very similar. Revlon is more like lip stain. Both are different in certain way.

    • Thanks babe :). Chubby Stick are great! I’m glad I bought a set to try

  • Pampering, yes. But on daily basis, wow I am so broke. LOL. I look at my products, it’s getting pricier -_-

    • Depends on what. Not everything though. Must shop smarter and find more “lubang” for better deals
