Review: Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper is Not Just A Guy Thing

Did you know Gatsby have this oil blotting paper that a lot of people are raving about? I don’t until a year ago after reading it from a Singapore beauty blogger. It is Oil Clear Sheet but I couldn’t find it at Watsons but I stumbled upon another version at the man section; Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper and I bought it home thinking it’s what I read lol. Silly me. What seems as a wrong purchase at first is actually a good purchase!

Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper comes in a whopping 70 sheets. 70 sheets 10cm x 10cm is shockingly new to me. Look at the size!

The packaging is nothing to shout about. It’s in white which I appreciate as it look clean. But the size of the box is larger than normal blotting paper. After all it’s 10cm width and long.

The paper is black…and it’s powdered which explains the “matte finish” claim. Do guy need powder on their face? LOL. Anyway it is made from black type natural paper which has powerful oil absorbant. Comparing with normal oil blotting paper which measures at 5cm x 8cm, Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper measures at a staggering 10cm x 10cm. With normal blotting paper I’d need at least 2 sheet for the whole face. With this Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper I only need one sheet.

Here is a simple test I did with one sheet of Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper. I have oily T-zone so my nose is oilier than my face. But one sheet is sufficient for my whole face maybe because other area of my face is not oily. The best is after the paper lifted the oil off from my face the light powder on the powder is transfered to my face. So it’s like blotting + powder on at the same. Pretty cool.

I can say that the matte finish claim for this Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper is true. With this I only need to blot once a day. I never pull this out for the second time during the day. And it’s quite environmental friendly since it’s made from paper not those semi-rubbery paper.

Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper is available at major pharmacies / drugstores and supermarket nationwide. I got mine from Watsons.
Price: RM7.57 for a pack of 70 sheets

    • If you don’t have too much oil on the face then you can skip blotting. I hate blotting but sometimes just need to do it otherwise I can fry an egg with it haha
