Avon Random Skin Analysis

Skin Analysis – How Accurate Are They?

I notice that recently when there’s a skin care launch there is definitely a skin analysis corner for the guests. Whilst everyone storm to that corner I usually avoid them. I wouldn’t want to know the real truth about my skin that I didn’t know. It’s quite like getting a full body check up ya know?

I had my first skin analysis with Lancôme during the launch of Blanc Expert Derm-CrystalTM. I was so ready to buy a bottle that day but it turns out I don’t need it! I found out that I don’t have pigmentation outside and inside. Yeah the skin analysis saved my wallet that day. My second skin analysis was with Kanebo during the Kanebo + Vanity Trove Sense of Beauty event. Although it was quite high tech but I find that it’s not as accurate as I think it is. For example the machine are placed on the oiliest area on my face i.e. T-zone and then I was told I am oily skin. Another example is to place the machine at the inner corner of my cheek where the largest pores are at and I was told I had large pores thus a certain product was introduced to me. Pretty obvious right?

A few days ago I went for Avon Anew A-F33 launch and there’s a skin analysis corner. I went for it cause it looked reliable and simple. I was pretty happy about it although it’s not as high tech as SK-II or Kanebo one. The machine was placed at numerous areas on my face covering every single bit of it. So I get a larger view and idea on how my skin is instead of just focusing on the bad side of my skin. Here’s my face chart.

SkinAnalysis1

I knew that I have congested skin. I always always mention it in my blog. So when I was told that I had congested skin I wasn’t surprised at all. Here comes the tricky part. My skin may look oily but I am also dehydrated. I knew that. This is what I called dry on the inside and oily on the outside. It’s normal for dehydrated skin. Another tricky thing that I told the lady who did my skin analysis is that I need to use moisturizer but I can’t over moisturize my skin otherwise I’d turn oily. She couldn’t agree more lol.

However the lady told me I have good looking skin and texture. I don’t have fine lines or wrinkles. We placed the machine every inch of my face but couldn’t find any. Except for a slight fine lines on my laugh line. That’s pretty normal. See how she marked it on my laugh line area?

So. To solve my congested skin issue I was told to continue using my scrubs and deep cleansing. Which I do every alternate days. Another tricky thing which I mentioned again to the lady. I cannot over-scrub my face. And I was told to use gel-type of moisturizer as cream would be too rich for me since I have combination to oily skin. I was also told to do more mask, which I am on every alternate day.

SkinAnalysis4
Although this skin analysis tells me everything that I already know, I’m quite happy that I went through with it. My skin condition changes so often that it’s good to keep updated once in a while just in case I need to change any skin care of mine. I also like the fact that the lady doesn’t focus only on the flaw of my skin and start asking me to get this product and that product. Instead she analyze the overall of my skin for comparison. It’s more authentic this way.

How often do you go for skin analysis? Will you jump to the opportunity if given so? I’m tempted to try SK-II Magic Ring machine 🙂

    • Most brand are offering skin analysis over the counter or you can try to go to those that are having concourse event at shopping mall. They usually give skin analysis too.

  • I went for a few before. All about the same. Good to have skin check but some like you said can be a bit more promotional to push their product ^^

    • Yeap. The analysis will be the same unless your skin had a drastic changes. The thing about skin analysis is you got to be a bit smart in outdo the sales girl haha.

        • Hahaha yes. It’s quite normal. I get that all the time. You just got to be firm at times. If you don’t need it or you already have a similar product targeted to your problem just tell the BA no.

  • I agree with you and Evelyn. Some only focus on the bad side and push their product sales. I stay away from skin analysis if can. Once is enough to know. Too much is just too much.
