Body - Fragrance Fiorucci Review: Bath / Body

Is It An Ice Cream? No. Is It A Lollipop? No. It’s Icy Fantasy by Fiorucci!

When I first had the new Icy Fantasy by Fiorucci fragrance misted on my arm, I was worried that it might smell too sweet. I mean, look at the bottle. It had the sweetness all over the bottle. So I took a sniff of the fragrance and I was so close to sticking out my tongue and lick my arm! Not once, not twice but 4 times. All that during the short briefing of the fragrance. When I was asked how and what do I think of the smell…I said its sweet, but not the kind of sweet that gives you nauseas and headache…it’s more like the kind of sweet that makes you want to lick your arm lol!

Oh yeah. That was my first impression on Icy Fantasy.

Although I only know Fiorucci as an Italian fashion label, however this is not the first fragrance from Fiorucci. Icy Fantasy is more like new rules, new desires and new collaborations for the brand. Having said that I must talk about the brand and fragrance.

The Fiorucci history started long ago. It immediately imposed its unique style and developed concepts that first seemed completely unconceivable. Thanks to an endless abundance of ideas and a desire to create a magical atmosphere, the brand became a real point of reference. Even if it remained in the collective memory through decades, the brand needed to re- establish its unique mark in the news. It started in 2011 with the super model Naomi Campbell who created a capsule collection and then reached a peak with the unexpected participation of the Swedish brand Ikea to the concept stores development. From these clever alliances were born a wonderful denim line and innovative and surprising concept stores.

As a brand new start for Fiorucci, it is targeted to capture young consumer’s desires thus the creation of Ice Cream concept. It is obvious that this is an attractive and colorful collection using the imaginary of ice cream.

The glass bottle body is made from textured frosted glass. Through this glass you are able to see the beautiful color of the fragrance – cherry red. The cap as you can see is shaped as exact resemble of an ice cream cone. Word of caution. It is absolutely tempting especially if it had a layer of luminous metallic gold coating on it. But the cap doesn’t hold onto the bottle very tightly so one must be careful not to hold the bottle by it’s cap otherwise you’ll risk dropping your bottle.

The outer box packing on the other hand (1st picture) reveals the pop side of Fiorucci with glamourous red and pink mouth and pink round shapes prints all over the box. Don’t be confuse with the whole idea. It’s not identity split. What Fiorucci is trying to portray is a seductive and tempting ice cream that was caught in a surprising bottle! Okay, that’s catchy 🙂

Let’s talk about the scent. I know the fact that I wanted to lick the perfume off my arm trigger your curiosity of the scent 😛

It is a fruity floral fragrance. There are a few types of fragrance – floral, fruity, fruity floral or floral fruity. Not sure if the word “floral fruity” existed but I’m going to tell you why I said there’s 4 type.

Floral – Floral ingredient used as main scent without any other fruit ingredient.
Fruity – Fruit ingredient used as main scent without any other floral ingredient.
Fruity Floral – Fruit and floral ingredient is used, with fruit as the main and major ingredient.
Floral Fruity – Floral and fruit ingredient is used, with floral as the main and major ingredient.

As much as I want to say this is a fruity fragrance, it is not. The fragrance is also infused with Tea Rose and Violet as the middle note. This fragrance concoction were worked around red and juicy fruits such as strawberry and peach to give you that sweet touch. Raspberry Lollipop were added in to magnify the gourmand delicacy of the fragrance. The signature of the Icy Fantasy perfume recreates the gourmand universe of the fashion collection.

Fruity fragrance normally turns into double sweetness when mixed with my body chemistry. It gaves me headache and makes me nauseas. Certain fruity floral doesn’t makes me smell more sweet but sure does give me the same nauseas and headache. I’m happy to report after a full week of heavily misting Icy Fancy on me I didn’t smell double the sweet and I don’t have any headache at all. I still want to lick my wrist (I mist some on the wrist too) though lol! The scent lasted all day on me. Maybe because I misted about 4 times on myself? But anyhow it sure doesn’t suffocate people around me 🙂

I wanna show you the new cheeky advertising visual for Icy Fantasy.

To perfect this new synergy between the fashion collection and the Icy Fantasy fragrance, a dress was exceptionally designed by Fiorucci stylist department for the perfume advertising shooting and will be part of the 2013 fashion collection. The quintessence of this fantastic perfume is simply captured by a lively young lady sat down on majestic stairs from who emerges a sweet charm. Her malicious look is simply an invitation to fun and sweetness.

Icy Fantasy by Fiorucci is a good affordable decent fragrance to start with if you are new to it, especially if you are also into fruity floral scent. The sweetness of Icy Fantasy is toned down by the floral ingredient in it as well as Musk and Sandalwood. So you don’t feel nauseas and those non-fruity ingredient actually makes the scent acceptable, even for me…the floral scent fan.

    • You’ll like this fruity scent. The floral ingredient is more to town down the sweetness so you won’t feel overly strong :). This packaging is attractive! So cute.
