Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow #Tenacious Teal & #Edgy Emerald – Probably The Best Vibrant Drugstore Cream Shadow In A Pot

I probably wouldn’t consider buying any cream shadow because I have oily lids and cream shadow crease on my lids like nobody business. When Maybelline released a mini series of Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow collection, I waited for every other beauty blogger to review it first before deciding. All reviews and feedback that I read said this cream shadow live up to it’s name – Color Tattoo 24 Hours and doesn’t crease at all so you bet I wanted these badly. I don’t do brown, earthy neutral tone so I was eyeing on blue and green. Then I had a problem. Tenacious Teal (the blue one) will not be available simultaneously with other color. It will only be released a month late.

Everyday after lunch I would walk to the only Guardian pharmacy at my office building and stuck my head in to peep if Tenacious Teal is available. Many times I was disappointed until one day. As usual I casually stuck my head into the left side of Guardian pharmacy main door as I was heading to Cold Storage. I thought I was delusional but I took another look and finally Tenacious Teal is in! Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow is retailing at RM19.90 each which is really a steal for a whopping 4g product. I grabbed Tenacious Teal (blue) and Edgy Emerald (green) and only paid RM15.92 each after 20% store discount!

I love colors especially my eyeshadow. Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow fits the bill. But fret not, not only they have vibrant blue, orange, green and purple but they also do pretty taupe or brown which is a hit among everyone I know.

I like that the cream shadow comes in a clear, heavy glass jar that you can look at the color before deciding. For the price we pay I say the glass jar is a plus point.

The name of the color is printed on the black cap instead of the bottom glass jar. There’s a lot of info on it so you might miss-look. Just got to look at it carefully 😀

Almost all tester at the display are all harden and dries up. There is no point to swatch it at the display actually. I didn’t bother to do any swatch as I already knew what I wanted so I just picked the duo up and pay straight. Unless its RM100 each pot of course! 😀

If you do swatch at the display, you might be thinking “oh, this cream shadow is so dry!” and decided not to get any. You are so going to regret it because Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow is not dry at all. It is creamy and easy to spread too to my surprise. Totally different from what I had imagine. However do take note that you can still smudge the edge as you want but once the cream shadow is set and dry, it is almost impossible to smudge it.

Look at the color! It is so gorgeous!

Here’s how I would wear it. I don’t do one-shadow look most of the time. I always prefer to do 2-tone shadow look which I have done a tutorial on it before at this post.

With Tenacious Teal, I would also use Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes #Big Blue on the inner corner.

If you feel that Tenacious Teal is too “blue” on you…you can always smudge it to sheer as soon as you applied it on. I didn’t do that because I want to capture the color for the photo 😀

As for Edgy Emerald, I have a fear of looking too green therefore I applied it on light handed. Here I am using Majolica Majorca Single Eyeshadow #BE286 on the inner corner of my eyes.

You can see the different between applying it light handed against heavy handed. If you prefer to have really vibrant color on, simply just dab on more. If you prefer to have just a hint of color, only dab the cream shadow on once and smudge with finger to sheer the color out.

Create Different Looks With Multiple Use of Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow

There is actually 3 very different ways to use Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow.

(1) As eyeshadow base – Some user that I know would prefer to apply a thin layer on as a base for powder shadow. The color of the cream shadow would actually enhance the color of the powder shadow as well as to provide longevity of eyeshadow throughout the whole day.

(2) As eyeshadow – This is a no brainer :). Most of us would use this as eyeshadow, afterall it is really a great one!

(3) As eyeliner – I do this sometimes when I’m lazy to do a black winged eyeliner look. I simply use an angled eyeliner brush and swipe a thin layer of this cream shadow as eyeliner. Once it is set, it stays on like a glue.

    • Yes Sarah. I bought beginning of May. Coincidently Guardians is having a storewide discount. I didn’t know this is on sales until I was paying for it. Quite worthy right? 🙂
Totally not into brown :P. I only bought 2 – blue and green. Will see if I want to get more 🙂

  • I love them, especially Teal! I prefer to use them as a liner these days, although as an eyeshadow they really don’t budge until I remove it at the end of the day. Definitely a good investment to get the whole collection, hehe <3
