Review: Skin Aqua UV Silky Smooth Milk and UV Whitening Moisture Milk, The SPF50+ PA+++ Suncare That Provides A 3-in-1 UV Defense Protection

I started using sunblock really really late and till to date I’m still counting my blessing that I did not have any brown spots all these while. I do hoard things I like and sunblock is definitely one of it. There’s this thing between me and sunblock. I use it like skincare. I don’t skip sunblock unless I accidentally ter-apply makeup base, just like today oppss!

Did you know that most premature aging is caused by sun exposure? Which is why most people will tell you that sunblock is very important. Going out under the sun without any suncare protection each day will cause noticeable changes to the skin over the years, even for just a few minutes. Scary right? Did you notice that the weather nowadays are hotter than how it used to be a few years ago? That is because the ozone layer is depleting due to human doing and ozone hole was first spotted 25 years ago, and it’s getting bigger. UV rays can cause skin cancer and cataracts in humans and reproductive problems for fish, crabs, frogs including single-celled phytoplankton at the bottom of the ocean food chain.

How do we combat these UV rays? Simple. By using sunblock or sunscreen is definitely a prevention step. The No. #1 suncare brand in Malaysia – Sunplay introduces 2 new daily sunblock recently that provides 3-in 1 UV defense namely anti-UV, anti-aging and anti-dryness.

Do you know the different between Sunblock and Sunscreen?

Sunscreen is a common type of sun protectant, filters or screens the suns UV rays. It keep most rays out but also letting some rays in.
Sunblock on the other hand reflects the suns rays from the skin, blocking the rays from penetrating into the skin.

*New* Skin Aqua UV Silky Smooth Milk SPF50+ PA+++ & UV Whitening Moisture Milk SPF50+ PA+++

The new sunblock duo from Skin Aqua is fragrance free, color free and most importantly…mineral oil free. With this 3-free points on hand, it is suitable for everyone including those with sensitive skin. It is also manufactured as a water resistance sunblock that is also suitable to be used as makeup base.

So, what makes this new duo different from the rest? It’s the 3-in-1 UV Defence Protection that they have.

Anti-UV – High SPF50 PA+++ that provide longer hours of protection for UVA and UVB.
Anti-Aging – Contain Collagen and Amino Acid to improve skin elasticity and reduces appearance of fine lines for a youthful looking skin!
Anti-Dryness – Infused with Super Hyaluronic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid that provide superb moisture retention to different layers of the skin and capacity for long hours.

Skin Aqua UV Silky Smooth Milk SPF50+ PA+++ (RM35.90/40g)

As the name suggest, this sunblock has an ultra-light texture and gives the skin an ultra-smooth texture after that. It is said that this UV Silky Smooth Milk is formulated with oil absorbing powder that pretty much contribute to that light and silky smooth finishing. These oil absorbing powder is also great in providing a shine-free face.

Oily skin users will love this. Not forgetting combination skin users too 😀

Skin Aqua3
I was actually quite fascinated by the multi-benefit and function of this high protection sunblock. Not only I get a fairly high UV protection from all the harmful UV rays, my face is also properly hydrated despite the product containing oil absorbing powder. This sunblock is also recommended to be used as makeup base for those that are not so into layering skincare and makeup or even for those lay back aka lazy days. Trust me, I have lazy days too.

Skin Aqua4
There is nothing fancy schmancy about the bottle. All I can tell you is that it is durably made and quite convenient to use. The content doesn’t ooze out when the cap is removed as soon as I shake the bottle vigirously. I like it!

The product is made in Japan which explains the Japanese name and description on the bottle. Just remember…if you can’t understand what’s on the pink bottle, it means that’s the UV Silky Smooth Milk 😀

Skin Aqua5
Skin Aqua UV Silky Smooth Milk comes in milky white color and it’s quite runny compared with UV Whitening Moisture Milk, which I’ll show you later. I do suggest a little bottle shake before using. Just to mix everything up 🙂

The sunblock disappear as soon as I spread it out. You hardly can see anything, not even a slight hint of color. Double love!

It is exactly as claimed – ultra light and ultra smooth texture. What I REALLY like about this sunblock is the cooling sensation that it gave me. As soon as I spread the product with both palm, I can feel the coolingness on my palm and that coolingness was transferred to my face but just for a very brief second. The product seems to dissolve and disappear immediately as soon as I had it on my face, leaving me with a matte, velvety finishing. Triple love!

Does it help with oil control? For oily skin like mine, only for the first few hours. My face started to get oily by mid day, which is quite normal for me. I don’t treat this as some oil control product anyway because it is not! Bear in mind it is a sunblock 😀

Skin Aqua UV Whitening Moisture Milk SPF50+ PA+++ (RM35.90/40g)

The second new sunblock by Sunplay is the whitening version. This is different from UV Silky Smooth Milk as this is formulated with a natural skin whitening ingredients that help to brighten up complexion as well as to even out skin tone.

Skin Aqua8
The multi function and benefit of this UV Whitening Moisture Milk is as good as UV Silky Smooth Milk except for a teeny weeny different. You’ve guessed it, it’s the whitening function. Although this doesn’t contain oil absorbing powder and the fact that whitening related product can be drying on certain skin but sunblock can never be drying. This will definitely suits all skin type.

Skin Aqua9
The bottle is kept simple and the same as UV Silky Smooth Milk. The only different is that the name is in English and to make recognition easier, the bottle is of course kept pearl white 😀

I like that the bottle is slim on palm and the dispense nozzle is long. I would also suggest that the bottle to be shaken before use. There is no worries that the content will ooze out after that. Unless of course you shake vigirously and angrily 😀

Skin Aqua10
Skin Aqua UV Whitening Moisture Milk comes in a more heavier, white color texture that is more opaque. It is basically scentless, not even a slight smell. Even if you forgotten to shake the bottle the content will still be dispense out as it is without any separation.

The texture is more opaque therefore the white cast is still visible after I spread it out. I notice that this is quite normal when it comes to sunblock or any whitening related products like whitening makeup base. This sunblock is slightly more heavier texture comparing with UV Silky Smooth Milk. You might feel the hint of oiliness which soon disappear as soon as I spread it out. It doesn’t leave any oily layer on the face. Although it doesn’t contain oil absorbing powder like UV Silky Smooth Milk, somehow it dries down pretty quick and with a little velvety finishing. Comparing with other sunblock in the market, this is considered one of the lightest of all. My face oil up as normal which means this sunblock doesn’t speed up the oil secretion on my face. I’m quite surprise that I don’t feel the sunblock irk at all.

In terms of hydration, this is the one. It provide sufficient hydration but not too over for me as I have oily skin. I believe normal or dry skin users will definitely love this more.

Okay now, after all the talk on both product I’m sure some of you are still confuse and eager to know the different between both variant. I know how it can be confusing sometimes :D. Here is a side by side comparison in 3 different view – Dollop (left photo), Slight Spreaded (middle photo) and Blended (right photo).

Hope it is clearer now 😀

Dermatologists used the term “photoaging” to describe the type of aging caused by sun’s ray exposure. It doesn’t occur overnight but over a few good years. The skin will lose it’s natural ability to repair itself if we keep exposing to the sun repeated without any suncare protection. Repeated UV exposure breaks down collagen and also impairs the synthesis of new collage. That’s not all. The sun also attack elastin.

I always tell my friends that my skin bounce back much more slower than how it was when I was younger. That is due to repeated sun exposure that my skin is now weaken. When you do, your skin become loose, wrinkled and leathery earlier than expected. That my friend is called signs of aging.

Prevent signs of premature aging by implementing proper sun protection product into your daily beauty routine. Start young, not as late as I do 😀

    • Less than 2 years ago. When did you start yours?

      Reply
      • When I was 14 after I developed skin allergies after prolonged sun exposure in school >.<
I'm not sure if sunscreen is really that good, because even though I started young, I have fine lines under my eyes at 22 🙁

        • I don’t blame sunscreen for fine lines. It is not anti-aging products. So it’s not 100% meant to prevent fine lines. I have fine lines under my eyes when I was younger than 22. Removing eye makeup ungently can also cause fine lines. Rubbing your eyes too frequent can also cause fine lines. Dry skin can also cause fine lines. Just too many causes.

    • Nope. Sunscreen is equally important. Sunscreen will “screen” through all the UV rays, only letting in the good one. No la…you still start earlier than my 31 years old LOL

  • Hohoho high five girl! I also started using sunblock very late…what a terrible thing for me to do. I did not relize the importance of sunblock or the adverse effect of not using one diligently. Recently, based on the skin check and consultation from a few beauty counters, I noted that the result is almost similar – I have a lot of spots which has formed under my skin, hence I need to take extreme care or else I will be in deep trouble if the spots emerge to the surface. Oh well. Just need to take more care 🙂 I have not tried Skin Aqua, so far the Biore one is good in terms of oil control but too drying for me. Will try something new soon 😀

    • I was told by SK-II girls that it’s pretty normal to have spots under the skin. Everyone have it. The only different is the quantity. Some people have more, some just a bit. I’m also using the Biore one. I like drier sunblock because I have oily skin 🙂

      • Bingo. I dropped by SK-II the other day and I’ve 300+ invisible spots under my skin. Almost wanted to cry on the spot literally. Anyway I’m using sunblock diligently now. Hopefully I can redeem myself for the earlier negligence. The BA told me the product that I’m using is causing excessive dryness that makes my pore enlarged, hence very visible. Sob sob.

        • I notice that people with fair skin is prone to have hidden spots if not visible spots. Which product you are using that is causing you excessive dryness?

          Reply
  • I suspect it is Biore sunblock. Or it could be my cleanser. By the way my Estee Lauder cleanser which I have used for just about 6 months has disintegrated and sort of spoiled…This is the second tube that I went to exchange. First tube it was also the same thing, used about 6 months then the product turned soft and disintegrate into semi solid and oily layer. Sigh…mailed them but no response.

It could be my cleanser or moisturizer. Hmm, not sure. But I suspect it is the sunblock because it contains alcohol and when I was using Hada Labo sunblock it was ok and my skin was oily too. Biore controls the oil too well 🙂

    • I have the Biore one too but it doesn’t help much with oil control LOL.
