Canmake Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Review: Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder #Matte Beige Ochre – Ideal Skin Color Match, Brighten & Gives Flawless Finishing

For the past 10 years, I have been using 2-way foundation powder. It was good enough for me that time but later on I find that the foundation slipped off by evening. By then you can see all the acne marks on my face oppss! Not a good sight I would say :D. Later on I was on Skin79 BB Cream for a brief while before I ditch it and went back to the trusty 2-way foundation. And of course after I started all this beauty craze I discovered that I kinda like liquid foundation and has been on it since :D. I have this cakey foundation issue which I’ll talk about that another time. Long story short, while I was testing out various base makeup to prevent cakey foundation…I took out this pretty Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder #Matte Beige Ochre from my stash to use. I never look back since 😀

Before I start this review, let me update you a bit on my current skin condition. I think my skin has reached it’s optimal stage whereas I no longer can layer too much skin care and I also apply lesser base makeup (liquid foundation & powder) nowadays. Acne marks on my face is also less visible so I no longer apply concealer too 🙂

I am currently rotating between a few finishing/compact powder and all that is too “moist” in a way. Fine powder yes but moist. I don’t like that sticky feeling on my face after finishing powder. My perception on finishing powder is slightly matte, powdery but smooth finishing. Loose powder gave me just that but if possible I would not want to use loose powder. It’s too troublesome and messy lol!

I sucks at pretty packaging. Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder is one of those that have really pretty and cute packaging. The case is quite huge and thick in my opinion but I certainly wouldn’t want Canmake to change the size of it because my fluffy face brush fits perfectly.

This finishing powder comes with a sponge. It is quite a good sponge but as usual, I decided not to use it. Normally I like to just keep it.

According to Canmake, Marshmallow Finish Powder is able to create the perfect sweet-looking face that is as soft and as light as a marshmallow. Thus came the name “marshmallow”. I personally prefer a matte finish as I have oily skin. So far I have yet to find a finishing powder that can give me that. Canmake said now I can to achieve a matte finish that also conceals pores and hides any unevenness in complexion with this powder.

There is only 2 shade available – [MO] Matte Ochre and [MB] Matte Beige Ochre.

[MO] Matte Ochre – A matte light ochre that will make your skin look brighter in an instant.
[MB] Matte Beige Ochre – An ochre shade that quickly and easily blends into your skin.

Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder is additive-free mineral formulation powder that is so gentle on the skin that you can even remove it with ordinary facial wash. However I would not recommend that. Always remember to double cleanse ya. Very important. This powder contain 72% mineral ingredient. Sounds wonderful right? Not only that. It is also surfactants, tar-based pigments, alcohol and fragrance free!!

Remember that I said that I dislike powder that is slightly moist? I have oily skin, I wouldn’t want to have my face oil up so fast after makeup. Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder fits my bill because it is finely milled, powdery because it contain shine-preventing powder that absorb sebum, preventing shininess, stickiness and also preventing make-up fading. I think this is a savior for oily skin user.

I have been using this finishing powder for a good few weeks now. I absolutely love it. It gave my skin a slight coverage. I never expect coverage from finishing powder but this compact just have it. Double love <3. I use Ecotools Powder Brush to apply the powder onto my face. The brush is so huge and fluffy but yet I have no problem dipping the brush onto the powder pan. Fits perfectly.

Just tap off the excess and brush on gently. I do a dab with small stroke movement so that I don’t drag the liquid foundation off. Or you can roll the brush onto the face :). I like that it conceal all the flaw and large pores on my face, thanks to it’s concealing powder. The powder is actually two different-sized types of spherical powder particles that create a light-scattering effect. What it does is that it makes it hard to notice areas of concern or flaw.

The powder swatch above may look a bit powdery and that create concern to some people but fret not, it is not powdery on the face at all. Just look at the bottom Before and After picture. My face still glow which means this is not 100% matte. Good thing with this is that my face still have that dimension instead of looking flat if completely matte. This is what I like about Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder.

The shade I’m using is [MB] Matte Beige Ochre. Just perfect for me 😀

Here is the simple makeup look that I did yesterday. Please ignore the mess at the background. I was in a rush to work so I didn’t have the time to setup white board as background lol 😀

I have nothing on beside Guerlain Correcting UV Base. No sunblock, no makeup base, no liquid foundation or BB cream and no Guerlain Meteorites Perles. Just Correcting UV Base and Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder #Matte Beige Ochre 🙂

My face do still oil up but it doesn’t cake up and ruin the whole makeup. The oil control property for this finishing powder is not bad, but not great which make sense as I have oily face. Eventhough so…it left my face with a hint of glow so my face has this dimensional look on it. It doesn’t feel anything at all on my face, as if I didn’t have any powder on 😀

Emollient agents

Have always wanted a non loose powder/meteorites finishing power coz they can be just so tedious to carry around!
And lastly, allows me to tell u how wonderful is ur current skin.. it is flawless! So beautiful!
The main cause is the guerlain? Or evelom?
    Super envy…

    • Indeed it is. Matches me perfectly and yes it should match you too :). Hey me too! Have always wanted something that resemble loose powder but not in loose powder form 🙂
Thank you Gin! I wouldn’t say it’s flawless now. Just better than previous 😀
Main cause is not Guerlain or Eve Lom but a combination. I’m on Neesya brightening for that whitening/brightening effect, Talika Photo-Beauty Therapy for anti-aging (day), SK-II Stempower (night) and Eve Lom TLC Cream for day.

        • I finished Guerlain already, not because I stop using. I ran out of Guerlain.
Lucky you :P. I only started using SK-II a few months ago. That’s like 10 years later than your age lol!!
Whitening Spots Specialist is suitable to be used day and night. If you want to save you can use it at night because our skin repairs itself at night when we sleep 🙂

    • This look nice but i wonder will suit my dry skin cos earlier i use orgins compact foundation not suitable cos a bit dry, i was advice not to use loose powder. Is this Canmake finishing powder hydrating?

      • Hi Wendy, I have not tried Origins one before. This one may be a bit matte on dry skin. I would suggest you to properly moisturize your face before powdering 🙂

  • I definitely need to dig this, mine is still sitting in the drawer untouched. Hope it will be kind to me too. The powder does make a difference and still look natural for you!

    • Dig in after you’ve finished other powder :). I started on this only after I finished Clarins. I apply lesser powder nowadays so it took a long time lol.

  • Wow, that’s quite a cocktail of skin care you are up to there, Fiona. I am a sucker for cute packaging and this Canmake powder is so cute; a bonus that you think it works very well too. I also like their little cream blushers.
I’ll add this to my shopping list – I prefer powder compacts to loose powder.
I think that good skin doesn’t require so many products so if your skin is getting better then it makes sense to go light on the makeup as it follows that there is less to repair and hide.

    • Hehe Jude :). This cocktail is the simplest at the moment. It used to be more complicated. I have their cream blusher too. Planning to review that soon.
You are right on good skin doesn’t require many product especially base. The better the skin is, the lesser product you will use to cover it 🙂

    • Hi Wendy, it should be okay if you moisturize your face before that 🙂
