BeauBox Beauty Box Review

BeauBox “Luxe Flora” January 2014 Edition Review

There are two things I never expect this week – January 2014 box from BeauBox and courier delivery on Thaipusam Day. The matter of fact, BeauBox “Luxe Flora” January 2014 Edition was sent out on the 9th January but somehow my parcel was stuck with the courier company again. But I was so busy lately that I lost track of this box until the courier company called me on Thaipusam Day morning.

It was surely good to see the cute pink BeauBox box again 🙂

First and foremost, I really like how BeauBox take all the necessary precaution step to protect the box from inside out, top to bottom and on the product. The overall box is bubble wrapped with a double-layer bubble wrapper. Double-layer means it’s thicker and more protective than the normal single layer bubble wrapper. Then on the inside when I open up the lid, I saw two pieces of bubble wrapper folded in half that was placed right on top of the product. Means there’s four layers of double-layer bubble wrapper there 😀 . I too found bubble wrapper on the bottom of the product. I must say that’s one excellent protection there. I’m already amazed even before I see the content.

I can smell a pleasant scent from the box. Initially I have no idea what was it but I found out later on. Will share with you below 😉

I found two cards right on top of the tissue wrappers. The small one is description on BeauBox’s new website URL, that is currently under construction and BeauBox’s new Facebook page URL while the big one is the monthly product description card.

Here’s the content for BeauBox “Luxe Flora” January 2014 Edition. All full size. The scent that I was telling you earlier came from the bottle on bottom right. It’s a makeup remover cleansing oil.

BeauBox promises a 4-5 full sized luxury beauty products. Last month I received four products but this month I received five full size products. One of it was bubble wrapped for extra protection. Gotta give extra extra points for being extra careful. Are you already liking what you see? Because I do!

Limited Edition The Stare Palette Naughty or Nice Eye Shadow Palette (RM149 / 12g)

If I can say one out of the many special criteria about BeauBox, that would be their exclusively created products. This limited edition The Stare Palette Naughty or Nice Eye Shadow Palette is one of the many exclusively created product just for BeauBox Cosmetics. Last month I received a The Stare Palette Eye Contouring Kit which is a natural shade eye shadow palette. This month BeauBox subscribers is once again pampered with a full size eye shadow palette and it’s my favourite as well. You know how much I love colorful eye shadow right? This one is right down my alley!

It comes in six vibrant colors inspired by Spring 2014 trends. Hallelujah to that! This palette includes a light highlighter, pigmented mocha shade as eye liner or brow filler, pink, blue and turquoise hue to create a mix and match look. Oh did I mention this palette is made in Taiwan?

BeauBox Luxe Flora 7
As much as I wanted to show you how gorgeous this palette is, I was devastated that the highlighter pan (Sand) was all crushed and there was eyeshadow everywhere – the box, palette shrink wrap, outside palette, inside palette and even on my product shooting paper board. I just don’t have the energy to clean this palette to show you the palette because cleaning this really takes a long time and time is what I’m lack of as I’m remodelling my room.

Honestly I don’t blame BeauBox for this shattered palette because they have done all necessary padding and protection. It must have been the courier company rough handling. It’s really such a waste because Sand really looks like my favourite Stila Kitten. I will definitely clean this use to use one day. But now looking at the mess, I have to put it aside first 🙁

BeauBox Luxe Flora 8
I’m so into the shades of the palette that I’m dying to show you girls so here’s the box lol.

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow (RM79 each / 2.8g)

I have no time to sob because I’m too excited with these Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow. There’s two included in the box. The shades name are no where to be found but one is burgundy while another one is black. It’s super smooth and highly pigmented. These crayon doubles as an eyeliner and as smudged eye shadow. There’s something about me and fat pencil. I just like them. Just so you might wanna know, these crayon pencil formulation is an exclusive combination of Italian-formulated waxes and pigments. So you can smudge, build the color quickly and easily. It is made from pure beeswax to minimize skin tugging during application.

Reverence Oil Phyto-Active Deep Cleansing Oil (RM149 / 30ml)

This cleansing oil was wrapped in a clear shrink wrapper but somehow the cap wasn’t close properly so there was a leakage in the box. That explains the bursting scent from the box 😀

This is a luxurious oil concoction of the most revered oils ever created. It’s meant to be used to remove makeup, melts away impurities and unclog pores without stripping the skin’s natural oil and pH balance. A few drops of these oil is all you need.

BeauBox Luxe Flora 12

Sexy Blender (RM49)

This came just in time. I’m getting back to applying foundation with a sponge so I’m definitely happy to get this one. I’m not going to elaborate much on this sponge as it’s quite a straight forward product and I’ve reviewed a similar one before.

What I Like

The ALL full size product box concept is something new, something fresh and something that is easily accepted by any beauty box regular. I like how BeauBox made their own product and include different varieties of product in the box. I am definitely amazed with the layers and layers of bubble wrapper protection because as we all know, these double-layer bubble wrapper does not come cheap. The packaging on the inside is well-done and neat. BeauBox indeed put a lot of effort and thoughts on it. The box design is also simple but yet nice and double up as a tissue box as well. I can even reuse it as gift box 😀

What I Don’t Like

Two things. The courier service and shattered palette. Both I don’t blame on BeauBox because it’s out of their jurisdiction. I have no idea why the courier company hold on to my parcel for a good full week and I suspect it’s the rough handling that contributed to the shattered palette. I have not highlight to BeauBox yet because I’m okay with it and not looking for a replacement. Oooo looks like I’m more lenient to beauty box now eh LOL. Honestly, I’m okay.

Conclusion

LOVE THE CONTENT! The products are good quality, exclusive, all in full size and useful. My favourite would be The Stare Palette Naughty or Nice Eye Shadow Palette and both of the Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow crayon pencil. IMHO paying RM129 for a box with 4-5 full size worth RM545 (in my case it’s RM505) is definitely worth it. Looking forward to see blush, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara or even eye brow pencil in future upcoming box.

  • Noo…!!! The palette’s shattered!!!!! If I were you, I pun sedih laa..

Could the rough handling be from before it was padded heavilly? The awesome peeps at Beaubox may not realise this when they padded the whole thing. They might not even realise the delivery then, was bad (one of those days kan)..

I’ve had a lot of palette’s delivered to me – padded. But not even one was shattered regardless of who the couriers are.

    • Takpe la Noni 🙂 . If I were a subscriber I will ask for replacement of course hehe. Hmmm ehhhh you could be right on the rough handling before packing though now that I think of it because the palette is covered with a cardboard so the awesome peeps at BeauBox might not realise it. I didn’t think of that cause I was too busy with spring cleaning. But it’s okay la. I have a lot of palette at home though lol.

  • 🙂

Things like these can give the awesome peeps at Beaubox a tainted reputation though, right? Their full-size concept is new & appealing too. I like it! I intend to get myself a Beaubox too one day. Not now cuz too much year-end spending oredi.. hehe.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, this might come as a disappointment to their subscribers.. things like shattered palettes, broken lippies, leaked tubes. Can easily might have faulted from their distribution / production centre.

    xx

    • It won’t because it’s not their fault anyway. Plus they will definitely give replacement to their subscribers if anyone encounter the same. So I’m not worried about taunted reputation for BeauBox. They have been great so far. Loyal fans will know that 😉

  • The items look pretty good, although the JPP products seem a bit meh (maybe it’s just me, lol). Also, the fact that Sand was shattered to that extent is pretty amazing (not in a good way since it’s such a waste) but it really does look like sand from the beach somehow managed to get into the palette LOL

    • I believe Sand is really soft and buttery type…like Stila Kitten. My Stila Kitten also shatted in such a way LOL. I’ll try to scoop Sand into a put haha. I like the shade.
The JPP looked meh but the pigmentation of the eyeliner is not bad. I haven’t used it yet. Will tell you after I’ve used it 😀

  • Oh no, can’t believe the eyeshadow shattered so badly. I think when the consistency is soft and powdery, it tends to break easier. Overall this looks like a really good beauty box subscription however, it seems rather pricey. I understand that if you buy each item individually in full-size it will cost more but for a subscription service, I’m not sure if there are many folks out there who would be willing to shell out so much each month.

    • Agree. Softer eyeshadow are more fragile. Subscription wise I agree too that it’s pricey considering other beauty box here ranging from RM39.90 to RM50 but there’s five full size that equals to RM20+ per item. That’s quite worthy, especially the palette 😀 . Well I believe there will be folks that are willing to splurge on these. Maybe not the college students. I personally would get it but not every month. Maybe once every few months? 😉

  • omg shattered palette!!! I would definitely wanna see how it actually look like. I always like full size products! I might subscribed it one day when I have some money! 🙂
It is really sad to see 2 items was not complete due to human error.

    • Maybe get February box since it’s Valentine’s Day 😀 . Just one item dear. The cleansing oil is just a bit missing. Still can use though. Palette I’m fine. I can use it after cleaning it 😉

  • my heart is crushed upon looking at the palette, kejamnya kalau courier campak2 parcel suka hati (T_T) but i really love how they curated the box. full sized products. maybe next time they can do some other improvements like not providing 2 items of the same function/target. i mean, rather than giving an eyeshadow palette and eyeshadow pencil, which are 2 same things, why not make it an eyeshadow palette and a lipstick or anything else. but then we cant really say much coz the process of getting brand partner is tedious, i remember your behind the scene of mivva box post.

    • Biasalah courier nie. Like Noni said earlier, maybe the palette is already shattered before the packing process. Yes I like how they curate the box too. Actually I thought the same too when I saw the Jelly Pong Pong eyeliner/eyeshadow pencil and the eyeshadow palette. But for me I’m okay because Jelly Pong Pong one are more suitable as eyeliner 😉 . My only grip when I think back is I get an eyeshadow palette from December box and another eyeshadow palette from January box. But then again not everyone own a lot of makeup products like us so I can’t complain much 🙂 . This month’s palette is a really beautiful palette. Awwwww 🙁

  • Indeed, it was heartbreaking and shattering to see the beautiful palette to be smashed and the mess is really quite a big chore to clean up. But the saving grace for the box is that they have an array of wonderful products. Like you, I am impressed with the packaging. It shows how much thoughts they put in to ensure that they can protect the beauty products. Alas…that’s life. Once in a while, something pretty like a palette or heart gets broken, but we can always rectify by putting in time and effort to salvage what’s left 🙂 Sorry I have been quite emo lately, too much on my plate. This post was a refreshing one after all the beauty box luck avalanche that came our way. As always, thank you for your honest opinion and I hope you get to use the beautiful palette soon.

    • I plan to clean the palette up and use it when I’m free. Room is still messy OMG. Cleaning is done half way. I’ve been quite emo too. Sigh.

Here’s an update news. BeauBox found out about my shattered palette and they sent me a new one. God bless the good people at BeauBox <3

      • Applaud!!! Awesome and kudos to the BeauBox team 🙂 Customer service is the key differentiator in the beauty box market. So good for the BeauBox team because they send out for review, read the review and follow up on any issue encountered. That is a great plus point.

Everyone is rushing for the spring cleaning to be done ASAP. On the plus side, there’s another palette to your collection for a variety of Chinese New Year look perhaps? 🙂 I haven’t bought a single CNY attire…So my friend teased me and say then there’s no good luck for me hehehe.

        • Yeap and like I said earlier subscriber who received the same shattered palette will definitely get a replacement. I just decided not to ask because it’s not a biggie for me 🙂 . This is definitely a spring-ready palette and for CNY too 😉

I went to KLCC this morning. Bought 4 Dorothy Perkins dress 🙂 . I think this year all my CNY dress is from Dorothy Perkins. Bought one earlier. Must at least get one or two pieces as good luck. Usually I must have everything new – from underwears to pyjamas!
