Burberry Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base: A makeup base that I would not recommend for oily skin

I bought a bottle of Burberry Fresh Glow one year ago but I never get around to review it mainly because I can’t seems to put my thoughts on it. I generally like makeup base and I thought I will like this one from Burberry too. Makeup base rarely will go wrong. Unless you have an oily skin and you got yourself a luminous type, like this one which I’m going to talk about today.

Burberry Fresh Glow 1
Burberry Fresh Glow doesn’t come cheap. It is priced at RM165 for a bottle of 30ml. A little does goes a long way for this luminous fluid base so when you prolonged the life span, it does seems to be at a reasonable price.

I’m definitely a fan of Burberry Beauty. If you keep your eyes peeled at Isetan newsletter you could spot yourself some sweet deals from Burberry. The toughest part for me whenever I like the deal is to find things to buy. I was told that I had the same problem as every other Burberry Beauty fans. They want to get the deal offered but we literally ran out of things to buy. Most of their fans are quite well off so they don’t mind repurchasing the same thing over and over again or even things they don’t use. As for me, I cannot afford to ‘buy for the sake of buying’. I’m quite the smart shopper I say lol. I will definitely resist the temptation if I can’t seems to find something to buy that I would use. This bottle of Fresh Glow is something that I wanted to buy for so long but was holding on to it until a better promotion came along. When I finally get to it, I was thinking to buy two bottles because I don’t have anything else to buy. Plus I use makeup base everyday. I’m quite glad now that I did not get more than a bottle. I don’t quite like it. There, I said it!

Burberry fans is also a fan of the iconic tartan print. Almost 3/4 of the bottle is covered in a shiny surface, tartan print cap. Love the print but hate the shiny surface as it attract fingerprints like no body’s business. The whole bottle is made from squarish plastic. Eventhough so it feels heavy, definitely not those cheap type of packaging.

Burberry Fresh Glow 2
One thing about Burberry Beauty bottle is the “on” and “off” nozzle. It’s great for travelling although I don’t think the cap will fell off from the body but just in case it does, your every belonging in the luggage or pouch is safe from nasty accident. It’s gonna be ugly I tell you. All the shimmering fluid everywhere 😀

Burberry Fresh Glow 3
Enough of the rambling on my love for Burberry makeup. What exactly is this Burberry Fresh Glow eh? It does look like a skin care isn’t it? In a nutshell, this is a luminous type of makeup base. I read somewhere that the formula is able to give a spectrum of skin benefits and multiple effects to the skin from instant radiance up to moisture. The luminous effect in the base is due to the ultra-fine illuminators. The reason why it is in it because the base is designed to give the skin a natural type of luminosity and light diffusion. Remember I said about skin benefits? The anti-agers function help to restore skin elasticity. One of the ingredient – wild rose extracts is to increase hydration level, which most roses in any skin care or makeup do. Honestly I don’t see any anti-aging effect from using this. I wonder who does see the changes in the skin from using this except for a temporary luminous effect?

When I pump Fresh Glow out onto the back of my hand, I can already see a nudey and luminous color fluid on it. It does resemble a nail polish color I tell you. It looks almost harmless on it’s own, quite watery, easy to spread onto face and it goes on wet but dries down to matte. I have to work extra fast whenever I’m using this base. What I don’t like is that all the ultra-fine illuminator is left on my fingers and hands. It get to everywhere, which is something that I don’t like. On the face, it is totally different from what you’re seeing on my hand. Unfortunately I can’t seems to capture the effect on camera so you will just have to rely on what I said instead.

Burberry Fresh Glow 4
Fresh Glow can be used in multiple ways. I used it in two different ways but I mainly use it as makeup base before foundation. There is a reason why oily skin user is deter from using any makeup products that contain luminosity in it. This Burberry Fresh Glow included. It does enhance the shine on the face and accelerating sebum production in a way. Not something that I’m looking forward to. I always assume the foundation will cover the luminous shine away. It does but the face oils up so fast and when everything I had on sort of “blended” together with the sebum, it’s not pretty I tell you. My foundation and powder always cake up because it just couldn’t contain the sebum building up from bottom.

Another way that I’m using Fresh Glow is to dab onto my upper cheekbones as highlighter after foundation. It gives the skin a very subtle luminosity, which I like. If you’re not into makeup, you can still use this Fresh Glow on it’s own as a moisturising illumination. Most runway makeup artist prefer to mix this Fresh Glow with foundation for a radiance look but for me, this is not an option. I’ll look all shine up!

Here is the ingredient list.

Burberry Fresh Glow 5
Sad to say, this is the one product from Burberry Beauty that I will not repurchase. Not because it wasn’t good but it just doesn’t suit my oily skin. Burberry Fresh Glow will look and perform better on normal and dry skin. It does give the skin the necessary moisturisation, which my oily skin can’t take but other skin type will definitely appreciate it better. I still don’t see any anti-aging effect on my skin despite using it everyday for the first few months after I bought it.

    • Depends on individual dear. I cannot live without makeup base. I like those matte makeup base so that my face don’t oil up so fast. This Burberry one makes me look oilier 🙁

    • Oh hie Li Li. Good to see you here. You’re interested with Fresh Glow eh? I do know the current promotion for Burberry. I thought I sucks in explaining so here’s the perfect promo poster explaining it all http://www.street-love.net/2014/03/isetan-exclusive-beauty-treats-28th-march-30th-march-2014/

I personally feel that the RM350 GWP is not attractive. Past previous promotion is way better where you get certain miniature products. Usually they throw the mirror in RM480/RM550 purchase along with some other products.

      Happy shopping girl!
