BH Cosmetics It's Judy Time Make Up - Eyes Review: Make Up

It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette: My first impression and swatches

It felt surreal when I had It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette on my hand and it still feel surreal until now. The co-creator of this eyeshadow palette with BH Cosmetics is none other than beauty guru, Judy from It’s Judy Time of YouTube. She also have a daily vlog channel It’s Judys Life, which I follow every single evening since roughly six months ago. Ever since then I’ve been eyeing on BH Cosmetics website on the palette as it was sold out within a few days after the launch. When the palette was restocked and I find out that they ship internationally, I wanted to get one but then the shipping fee believe it or not is double of the palette price if I opted for USPS Priority.

I found a local reseller that do pre-order from US and sometimes she would get one or two more extra for her ready stock sales but unfortunately there was no It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette in sight. Just end of last week I saw her latest ready stock list from Facebook. I confirmed with the seller on It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette and she indeed have ready stock so when she listed the palette into her website, I quickly snag one. I was in luck because it’s the only palette available (I think).

It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition collaboration palette between BH Cosmetics with Judy of It’s Judy Time. It is a limited edition palette and is currently selling for USD14.95, after 25% discount from it’s original price of USD19.95. There is also another YouTuber, That’s Heart that collaborated with BH Cosmetics and launched her palette That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette on the same day as Judy. This palette on the other hand has been on a huge discount or package sales for several time. I’ve been waiting for the same for It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette but to no avail. I guess it’s selling like hot cake eh?

Now back to this palette. It’s a 12-eyeshadows palette hand-picked by Judy personally consisting from neutral tone to blue and purple tone. In the palette you will also find a balance combination of matte to satin, shimmer shades. I have said before that I’m not into neutral. When Naked3 was launched, I was intrigued to get it due to the rose-hued neutrals. Then I did some research and find that Naked2 is much better in terms of shade and payoff. Even though so I can never deny the fact that I like colorful eyeshadow so I personally feel It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette suits me better 🙂

Each pan is approximately the size of our Malaysia new 10 cent coin size. Some review online said that it’s quite a small pan but to me the size is alright. I mean how many of you really finished a palette? Never. So I don’t mind. I only wish it’s cheaper after currency conversion to RM lol!

The palette is made from laminated hard cardboard that comes with magnetic closure. This type of packaging reminds me of Benefit. On the front is It’s Judy Time logo, while on the inside there’s a quote “Natural is beautiful but makeup is glam” which is sort of like Judy’s quote. There’s also a huge mirror included. Absolutely loving the gold font on black packaging.

Let’s take a closer look on the shades. I’m not good with explaining the shade so bear with me 😀

From left to right:
Top: Matte nude, matte muddy brown, satin shimmery brown
Bottom: Satin shimmery gold, satin shimmery copper, satin shimmery deep burgundy

Top: Matte medium brown, matte dark brown, satin deep brown
Bottom: Satin shimmery purple, satin light purplish blue, satin deep blue

There has been quite a mix review on this palette. Some said it’s pigmented, some said it’s sheer. On the pan it looks alright and looks pretty pigmented. I find some of the shades is a bit hard to swatch. There are a few that’s quite sheer upon swatch but I think it should be okay on the lid since we Asian have smaller hooded eye shape.

Here’s the swatch on my hand for top row. This row is mainly neutral colors. This is also the row that I find hard to swatch. Or maybe I’m too used to see colorful, bright eyeshadow eh?

From left to right:
– Matte Nude – This shade is quite sheer but I’ll mainly use it to highlight my brow bone so I’m not bothered.
– Matte Muddy Brown – This is a color that Judy used mainly as transition color on the crease or to blend. You can see from the pan that I swatch really hard but it’s hard to get the color on my hand.
– Satin Shimmery Brown – This one swatch alright but lots of flakes and fall out. The color transferred from the pan to my hand in a big lump! None the less it’s a beautiful brown.
– Matte Medium Brown – This color is soft and buttery to touch. Payoff is quite good and beautiful. Would look great for crease.
– Matte Dark Brown – This is a typical dark brown. It’s also easy to get the color on my hand. It goes on slightly patchy but once smooth out, it’s quite a pretty color I say.
– Satin Deep Brown – Another beautiful satin brown, probably a shade that I like more than the other brown.

Bottom row gets more interesting.

From left to right:
– Satin Shimmery Gold – A pretty shimmery gold color. It feels very soft to touch.
– Satin Shimmery Copper – Another beautiful shimmery medium brown that will suits almost everyone.
– Satin Shimmery Deep Burgundy – This shade is quite a special one. It appears like a deep dark brown but it has a burgundy sheen to it. The shade is very deep so I’ll probably use it for eyeliner.
– Satin Shimmery Purple – My favourite shade of all. A purple that is not too dark or too light. This shade would be a great combo with all the brown, especially if applied onto the middle eye lid.
– Satin Light Purplish Blue – This shade is a very sheer one despite looking like a medium purple on the pan. I have a hard time swatching this shade onto my hand.
– Satin Deep Blue – This deep blue have a reflective sheen to it. It’s a nice blue for days where you want a pop of color on the lid.

I feel that one will need a slight boost with eyeshadow primer, which I have no problem with since I must apply primer before eyeshadow. There is hit and miss with all of the 12-eyeshadow shades. Some shade is with better color payoff while some is hard to swatch. One thing I like about these eyeshadow is that although it goes on slightly patchy and with minimum fall out, once you smooth out the shadow then it’s a pretty shade afterall. I like the buttery smooth satin texture and finishing. These shadow is long lasting wear because it doesn’t budge a bit. I had a hard time trying to get it off my hand with wet tissue. So a proper bi-phase eye makeup remover will be needed.

So what do I think of the palette after swatching them? I love it despite started off with a little bump with the swatches. These eyeshadow goes on beautifully on the lid. It is so easy to apply, blends out evenly and the payoff on the lid is wayyyyy much better than the swatches. The quality is absolutely good, contrary to what everyone has been saying about the palette. I like the neutral shade selection because it’s so versatile unlike Naked palette whereas most of the shade is similar to each other 😛 . The main attraction of the palette is that each of the shade is different from one another therefore creating different looks using It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette will not be an issue. Thumbs up from me!

  • The colour of the eyeshadows are very soft. I like Satin Light Purplish Blue colour. Try in on your eyes next time.

    • Yes it is a trustable site. That is why I bought from them? 🙂 I see that most people buy from them. What you can do is to google if there’s a fake product available and read more info on it. Not everything have fake actually.

  • Thanks for the review! I love It’s Judy Time and her vlog channel too! Been a fan for many years. I wasn’t sure about her palette because I’ve never tried BH Cosmetics before until very recently and am overall very impressed with their large palettes. So I will probably end up getting the It’s Judy Time palette someday soon.

    • She’s amazing. Her videos is always very short and sweet and looked natural. I would have haul directly from BH Cosmetics if it’s not for the high shipping rate. It’s Judy Time palette swatched badly but look and feel amazing on the lid. I’m thinking to get That’s Heart palette but not so into her color combination though.
