Just when we are still gaga-ing over Female Singapore April 2014 Issue X NARS The Collector’s Edition and we are talking about how Malaysia doesn’t have box set like Female Singapore, well whaddaya know. CLEO Malaysia released a limited edition box set with their June 2014 issue. It’s the CLEO June 2014 X The Body Shop 4-Step Smoky Eyes Smoky Plum Limited Edition Box Set.
Thanks to Mieza for spotting CLEO Malaysia Facebook page status update on Tuesday early morning, I would probably have missed it even though at that point of time I was sitting right in front of my notebook browsing Facebook with a cup of coffee on hand. Boy I’m not liking how news feed appears on our timeline nowadays.
I didn’t really plan to dash out of the house on the same day to get it. I was thinking maybe I could grab it the next day if I’m going Ikea. I spoke to mum briefly on it and she feels that I shouldn’t sit on the idea. In fact she was the one who has been chasing me to bath and get myself ready since 9.30am! I guess she’s more anxious than me LOL. While I was doing my makeup, I made some calls to a few bookstore to check on stock availability. It’s only 27th on the month so I’m expecting stock delays with some of the bookstore, if not all. My first choice would be Borders The Gardens. They have the normal edition but not the box set (yet). Then I made a call to Borders Tropicana City Mall. There was no one picking up the phone despite several attempt. Borders The Curve was rude on the phone and she put me on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up after tired of waiting. I really don’t want to drive anywhere further than Mid Valley so I check CLEO Malaysia Facebook page again and spotted MPH Mid Valley. The kind lady on the phone confirmed that the box set arrived and they still have most of the stocks.
Each set cost RM30. Regular magazine is RM6. I came home with just three set. One for Jenny, one for myself and another one for gifting. I like to get a spare for the “just in case”. There are only 25 sets at the magazine section. I saw one set on display and another set on display at the cashier counter.
So what’s great about this box set eh? It’s definitely not NARS but I don’t mind. CLEO partnered with The Body Shop this time and the partnership includes an insert of 4-Step Smoky Eyes 4-Colour Eye Palette in Smoky Plum together with a copy of June 2014 issue of CLEO magazine. I tried searching for other shades (just in case you girls asked) but too bad there’s only one shade available. I’m secretly beaming with a smile because Smoky Plum is a smokey shade that I would prefer over black/grey smokey or brown/dark brown smokey. This palette is very similar to one of my favourite MAC palette 😉
The Body Shop 4-Step Smoky Eyes 4-Colour Eye Palette in Smoky Plum is a BEAUTIFUL satin, earthy plum quad. I never expected that each shadow pan is this huge. The shades are lovely. It will not be too dramatic for work. The eyeshadow palette also comes with two mini brush – eyeshadow brush and angled eyeliner brush. It’s not the typical sponge tip applicator that you get from every other eyeshadow palette. The brushes are like the miniature version of their retail brushes. Even the holder is the same. The size and length of the brush is bigger and longer too. Bristles are soft so no complain there. Just in case you are wondering, each palette cost RM99 at The Body Shop. Although they are on 50% sales now, it is RM49.50 and still slightly expensive than CLEO’s. I’m glad to find that the manufacturing date is May 2013. It’s not something that is going to expired soon and simply thrown in the magazine to get rid of the stock.

The colours of the eyeshadow are beautiful. I would prefer the smoky plum compared to the brown one too! As for the price, it’s a total steal! 😀
I went MPH One Utama yesterday evening but it just arrived their store & was not to be sold yet. The Sales Girl did asked me to come back today to grab a copy.

Oh yea, smoky plum gives the lid some color rather than dark all the way hehe. I heard Borders Tropicana City Mall stock arrived yesterday. You can try that outlet as it’s the nearest to One Utama 😉
The colours are indeed beautiful, and I am delighted to see that the brushes are not the sponge tip applicator as well, hehe! Well, my friend Mazlina managed to get a set for me and for herself ^_^ I told her to call Pavi first, and she got it the next day after you, where the copies were still in boxes and not displayed yet. she felt really bangga she told me XDD
Oh yes. Awesome colors. I just used it today 🙂 . Brushes are quite good too. Everyone’s been hunting up and down for the magazine as most bookstore stock haven’t arrive yet on Tuesday when CLEO posted on Facebook. Phew. Everywhere now is well-stocked up 😀

I’m actually not a fan of plum shades but I see the brushes look the same as the ones in the Body Shop Mini Brush Kit which I purchased for RM70 a while ago. That kit had four brushes though. I’m still thinking about purchasing this…but it looks like I might give it a miss this time…I have a lot of products…although this would make a nice gift for a friend.

It goes on like a lighter version of deep brown or is it burgundy? I’m so bad in describing shades haha. If you know you won’t have a use of the palette, don’t need to buy it. I too gave a miss to a few other magazine giveaway simply because I knew I won’t be using it. RM30 is a good deal but if you don’t use it even RM10 is a waste 😉
Mum always ask me why buy two of everything. I’m saving it for gifting. You’ll never know which friend or niece birthday is coming lol

I bought mine at Times Bangsar Shopping Centre on Wednesday after I saw your Instagram. It is a lovely palette and I hope to put it to use soon. There are still many copies left at Times, BSC 🙂
Times BSC crowd is not as massive as other shopping mall. Usually when everywhere else is out of stock I will go BSC as they always have stock left. My friend said the same thing to me too just now 😀
I went to look for it at Popular/Harris Bookstore at 1Borneo on Saturday, but looks like it hasn’t arrived in Kota KInabalu yet – the May editions are still on display. Couldn’t go out yesterday – maybe today I’ll get lucky, heh? 😀
