Makeup setting spray. Hmmm. I never have any good experience nor have I encounter any that is good. After the last makeup setting spray that claimed to have oil control properties but failed, I don’t go hunt for others anymore. I thought even the highly raved Urban Decay De-Slick failed on me, what else would work right? Now, that was before I tried MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex.
This new Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex was globally launched just this Thursday 15th May 😀 . A few days ago I also talked briefly about the NEW Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex that is replacing the existing Mist & Fix. If you are already a Mist & Fix user and fan, fret not. The formula remains the same and it still function the same, except that MAKE UP FOR EVER infused it with extra moisturizing benefits. Mist & Fix O2 Skin Complex functions by sealing all the makeup and improves the holding powder, while providing moisture to the skin. This makeup setting spray is alcohol-free with a total flawless holding power and gives the skin a glowing complexion while giving the skin a moisturized feel to it.
What’s funny is that I went to MAKE UP FOR EVER “I Love AQUA” workshop last month thinking that I’m going to get to know all about the AQUA line. As soon as I reached, I told Angeline the makeup artist at MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Boutique Level 2 Sephora Starhill that I wanted to buy a bottle of Mist & Fix so imagine how surprised I am to find out that there’s going to be a new Mist & Fix. And I was even more surprised to know that I will be given a bottle 🙂 . I’m absolutely a new fan girl.
One the day where I was eagerly to use my Mist & Fix, I ran into a slight issue with the spray nozzle. I couldn’t get the nozzle to spray anything out and the content was oozing from the side of the pump on top. After trying and trying numerous methods for 15 minutes, I gave up. I put the bottle back and one minute later I took it out for one last try. This time I unscrew the nozzle from the bottle and check the spray again. I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I even push the tiny hose into the spray top tightly and the spray nozzle still fails on me. Then I took a tissue paper, remove the hose, blew some air into the tiny hose and put it back to place. The next thing I know, the spray nozzle functions well till to date 😀 *proud*
While I was at MAKE UP FOR EVER last month, I also bought a bottle of All Mat. It works fine but not as well as I expected it to be. I’m not going into detail on that but I will be reviewing All Mat soon I hope. Whenever I have several new product to try, it’s like an experiment. You never know which works, which not and what goes well with what product. With just All Mat on, my face still oils up but lesser than usual. But when I mist this MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex at the end, I have a matte face for a good five hours before my skin turns dewy.
Most makeup setting spray or even face mist claimed to not melt makeup after misting. I find the claim to be the total opposite on me. Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray (Oil Control) or even Avéne Thermal Spring Water melts my makeup as soon as the water landed on my face. It doesn’t help when the mist is not as fine as it should be. I was a bit sceptical with Mist & Fix as well. Can’t blame me though. Bad past experience. Imagine my ohhh and wowww look when Mist & Fix mist out the finest and the most misty makeup setting spray that I’ve ever seen. It is recommended to hold the bottle an arm away from the face but heck, you know I always do the total opposite as instructed. I wanted to test out how well my makeup stands if I were to soak my face with Mist & Fix. And I think it’s a waste if my face only catches half of the mist LOL.
The thing about taking Before and After face shot by myself is all about trials and errors. The below Before is after 3 to 4 tries perhaps? MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex doesn’t even melt my makeup a bit.
I do love it’s quick drying formula. It dries down in no time, provided you don’t soak your face like how I did above 😀 . What I really really reallllllyyyy like about Mist & Fix doesnt just stop at the fact that the mist doesn’t melt my makeup. Instead, I notice that the product smooths out my makeup whenever I mist it on before I left everything to set. I usually don’t have the time to wait so that explains. When it dries up, my makeup is somewhat flawless and look much more natural than before.
I never expect Mist & Fix to reduce oil secretion on my face but it did. My face stays matte for the first five hours. Usually it’s one hour and it starts to oil up. After the five hours mark, then it started to look a bit dewy which I’m fine with. And there wasn’t any makeup meltdown for the rest of the day. I reached home from work by 8.30pm and my makeup still looks fine and good, with a bit of shine. Not bad for a total of 12 hours.
Here is the ingredient list. It does contain a bit of fragrance. That explains the soothing scent. Not to worry on it though. You will smell it when you’re misting but as soon as the mist landed on your face, you won’t smell it anymore 🙂
Besides using MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix With O2 Skin Complex as makeup setting spray, I’m also using it to dampen my brush to intensify any eyeshadow application or when I wanted to pick up more eyeshadow product as eyeliner. Not only the product intensified the color of the eyeshadow, it also seal the eyeshadow into place. I believe this will work so well with pigments. This is a multi-task product that really benefited me in so many ways. I will definitely not hesitate to repurchase it. As I said it earlier, I’m already a fan 🙂
