Etude House Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher in PK001: Pretty packaging, unique concept and most importantly works like a charm

On September last year, I bought not one but two Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher for RM49.90 each as it was on sale from it’s original price of RM159.90. I didn’t want to buy it when it’s on RM159.90 because I think it’s quite pricey for Etude House. Furthermore I couldn’t find it anywhere as everyone went crazy over it. Boy am I glad I didn’t cave it to my impulsiveness otherwise I’d be kicking myself for paying full retail price for it 😀

Ever since I bought it, believe it or not it has been sitting in my drawer until last week when out of no where I thought of my Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher. I remember I wanted to take some photos of it before using (typical blogger) but somehow that slipped out of my mind. Before you girls come after me for reviewing what was supposed to be a Limited Edition item, hang on to your horses because I have a very good reason for it. I decided that I could still tell you about this because two months ago I spot it at Etude House Berjaya Times Square. Now, that sort of explained why you’re reading this. YOU CAN MIGHT STILL ABLE TO HUNT FOR THIS *grins*

The shade that I went for is PK001, which is a pinkish blusher. There is also another shade available at that time, OR201 which I believe is a coral shade blusher. If you know me well you’d know that I always go for pinkish blusher instead of coral. I’m just not a fan of coral *shrug*. Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher came packaged in a utterly cute box packaging (not in picture) but what’s on the inside is even more cuter.

The blusher is not just any ordinary pan blusher but instead this is a loose baked heart-shape blusher that come separately together with a pretty stand casing and a fluffy puff. It is very princess-like in every angle so if you’re not into girly girl, princessy stuff, you might want to look away :D. In order to use, I need to take out each heart-shape blusher one at a time and placed it inside the container. Initially I thought these heart-shape blusher is quite fragile so I make sure I do it with extra caution, well you know how clumsy I can get sometimes lol. But it turns out it’s not as fragile as I think it is.

I prefer to use a blush brush for my blusher as it’s easier to blend above my contouring so I’m not going to use the fluffy puff that was included. Real Techniques Blush Brush is my current go-to brush for applying blusher and I think the softness of the bristles would be perfect for such a delicate product.

I was disappointed on my first application of the blusher because there wasn’t any color on my cheek despite repeating the application again and again. I gave up trying thinking this is just a pretty blusher to look at, not as a blusher. I tried the next day and I still couldn’t get the color on. Finally I just swirl like crazy, ignoring the heart-shape blusher placement in the container and that’s when I saw a beautiful pinkish blusher payoff on my face. It is exactly as I imagined it to be and exactly like how the shade would be from the baked heart-shape blusher itself. I realised I was too concern on the fragile-ness of the blusher and the placement of each heart so my brush couldn’t pick up sufficient amount of powder. The trick here is to let your brush dance along with the heart-shape blusher. It turns out it wasn’t as fragile as it looked like.

For me, I prefer to have my blusher on top of my cheek bone, layering on top of my contouring and blending both together. I don’t apply onto the apples of my cheeks anymore like how I used to do during my younger days. Here is some tips in applying blusher. If you insist on applying onto the apples of your cheeks, make sure you don’t smile and apply slightly above the cheeks for the lifting effect. The reason is gravity. When you smile, the blusher may look like it’s on the cheek but once you stop smiling, the area where you’ve applied the blusher will drop slightly lower and that pulls your face feature down, which makes you look like you’re a few years older and it’s certainly odd to have blusher that low. I usually use my contour line as a guide and whenever I don’t contour, I make sure I swipe my blusher higher 🙂

Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher is not a matte blusher. It gives the skin a satin and soft shimmering shade. It’s the type of blusher that I would prefer over matte blusher. There is no shimmery bits at all just in case you’re wondering. Each package comes with 3-light peach, 3-light pink and 4-medium pink heart-shape blusher.

Hope those of you who is looking for this Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher will still be able to get it. There are some outlet that still carry the stock but the stock level is quite low with maybe just one shade available. Also, buy it when it’s on sale where it’s priced at RM49.90 if I’m not mistaken.

Good luck and have a great Monday! 🙂

Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher may or may not still be available at selected Etude House outlet nationwide.

  • The full prices of Etude House items can be quite shocking. I don’t think I could buy anything from EH unless it was on sale.
I was shocked that the EH BB air cushion thing was RM200 a set – at that price I may as swing around to Chanel.

    • I totally agree with you. I was shocked at the full price of this blusher too. That’s like premium counter brand blusher price! I was eyeing on an empty auto-pump bottle from Etude House and it was retailing for RM70+. Insane! I wouldn’t pay that much for an empty bottle. Too bad Daiso doesn’t have it. But I’ve gotten over it so it’s fine now.
BB Air Cushion RM200 for a set is way too expensive, even more expensive than the ever famous Laneige. Thank god my skin couldn’t take BB Cushion lol
