BH Cosmetics Make Up - Eyes Make Up - Face Review: Make Up That's Heart

That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette: My first impression and swatches

When Judy of It’s Judy Time launched her co-created It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette with BH Cosmetics end of 2013, she launched it together with another YouTuber ThatsHeart with her co-created That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette. Both of the palette have been in my wish list for so many months. I managed to get It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette in April 2014 and I finally gotten my hands on That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette just a few weeks ago. Andddddd of course nothing in my life comes without any drama. This highly anticipated palette comes with a drama as you all know.

Some of you emailed me for a review on the palette. You know who you are and thank you for the request 🙂 . Initially I didn’t want to tear off the shrink wrap packaging of all my BH Cosmetics palette because I still have a pending case with ABX. They took forever to respond to my email(s) and so I’ve decided to just went ahead with this first impression and swatches review.

If you’ve been watching Heart’s YouTube channel, you would have know that the design of her palette is really representing her style. The huge pink heart with lace bother on the front cover matches with her YouTube handle name. I am personally a fan of anything with a heart design. When I told my friends that I’m buying That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette, their reaction was “oh that is so you” 😀 . Yes, I am a sucker for cute, pretty packaging, anything pink, anything lace, anything with heart and anything that is girly.

Unlike It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette, That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette on the other hand is a perfect square palette. It’s quite big if I were to compare with Judy’s palette but there is a good reason for the size.

Everything you need to know about the palette is printed on the back

It was a complete cuteness overload for me the first time I opened the palette. Remember the heart shape on the front of the palette, well on the inside there is a same heart shape size mirror. I absolutely love it! That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette, as the name said it all, is an eyeshadow, blush AND a bronzer with highlighter palette. Basically it’s everything you need to complete the whole look. Now you know why is the palette is in a perfect square size eh? It is to accommodate eight soft pops of color to neutrals eyeshadow pan, a bronzer/highlighter pan and a blush pan.

That's Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette Inside

I used to be into colorful, vibrant eyeshadows. I still am. Just that my love for colorful eyeshadows is now half divided to neutral shades thanks to It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette. I knew right away that I would enjoy using That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette because it is a combination of colors and neutral shades. To have a bronzer, highlighter and blush in the same palette is just perfect. It makes my life easier by not needing to think which blush to use or the need to search for a separate bronzer palette.

That's Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette Shades
I would say the top four eyeshadow shades is more of a tropical shades instead of just “blue”. You will know what I meant once you’ve used it. The bottom four neutral eyeshadow shades is pretty much an everyday wear. Do take note that most of the eyeshadow colors are in satin. That means it’s not matte and it does have a sheen to it.

I ran my finger twice on each of the eyeshadow for the swatch with the exception of the 3rd shade on top row (dark purple but my camera decided it’s blue instead) and the 4th shade on bottom row (dark brown) where I needed to ran my finger on the pan thrice in order to get the color to show up on my hand. As you can see from the swatch, most of it is quite shimmery, except for the two shades that I ran my finger thrice. That two is more matte. The shimmery white “bone” shade is extremely shimmery. I’m not sure if you want to use it to highlight the brow bone because it’s way too shimmery for me. However it’s perfect for tear duct highlighting.

That's Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette Eyeshadow Swatches
Comparing with It’s Judy Time Eyeshadow Palette, I find that all the eyeshadow in this palette is easier to swatch. I had a hard time getting the colors on my hand for Judy’s palette but it goes on the eye lid beautifully and effortlessly. All the eyeshadows in That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette on the other hand is buttery soft to touch, swatch easily and it goes on the lid as beautifully as well.

I would say my most favourite of all are these three – bronzer, highlighter and blush. The bronzer is amazing for contour. It is super pigmented, very dark and it doesn’t goes on my skin muddy looking. I like how the bronzer gives me a prominent contour line on the cheekbone and it lasted on me. Most bronzer disappear after a few hours but this one doesn’t do that to me. The highlight on the other hand is suitable for the brow bone. It is less chunky shimmer in it than the 1st eyeshadow on the top. The only downside of this bronzer/highlight pan is that my angled brush doesn’t fit on the half pan so most probably I’d dirty the palette in no time. As for the blush, it is actually a barbie pink shade but my camera pick up as normal pink lol. This one is super pigmented as well so be light handed with it.

Here is the ingredients list for the eyeshadow, bronzer, highlighter and blush.

That's Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette Ingredient List
What makes this palette great is the combination eyeshadow shade selection to create different look for different occasion. I like that it has everything from eyeshadows to bronzer, highlighter and blush. The overall design of the palette is one of the reason why I bought it too. I have the palette as decoration on my vanity table because it’s just too pretty to be tuck away in a drawer. However, the square size of the palette makes it not easy to store or travel with. But that is the least of my concern 😀

Now the question is, where to buy it? There is a few platform selling this palette. The most direct method is to get it from BH Cosmetics website. They are constantly having sales and now this palette is going for USD6.95! The downside is shipping. USPS First Class will cost you USD21.95 while USPS Priority will cost USD39.95. It’s ridiculously expensive! There is also quite a handful of Instagram seller collecting pre-orders. It takes about a month or so to reach you so that’s not too bad comparing to Mysale. At least you do not need to go through all the worries and heart attacks.

Oh and it’s cruelty-free too 😀

That’s Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette is a limited edition palette available for purchase at BH Cosmetics website (US).

  • So pretty! I’m sorry that one of the palette was stolen. It is such a nice palette to have. It’s unfortunate that we can’t get BH Cosmetics in Malaysia^^

    • That sucks. I bought extra this time just in case it’s nice and I wanted to keep one. I’m pissed my extra was stolen! Grrrr.
I bet if someone bring in BH Cosmetics, the price will not be as affordable as it is in the states.

  • I really love the design and concept but I just find that BH Cosmetics makeup is so inconsistent 🙁

    • Hi Vicky, why is it inconsistent for you? As for me, BH Cosmetics is actually far better than any other drugstore brand for the price. It is alright for me in terms of pigmentation and quality 🙂
