Batiste Dry Shampoo #Blush: A quick and easy fix for greasy scalp

When everyone was buying and ordering Bioderma from oversea, I decided to sit around and wait for the brand to be brought in to Malaysia. I always believe somebody or some company would be following the hype. So when Batiste Dry Shampoo was a “hot” product, I did the same. I sit and wait. Guess what? A few months down the road and a company brought the brand in!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush
I’m so glad I waited because the cheapest I’ve seen from online store is around RM35 per can and I bought it straight from Aeon Big Alamanda Putrajaya for just RM24.90. Good things come to those who wait eh? There are a few supermarket that carry Batiste Dry Shampoo. You can get it from Village Grocer, Jaya Grocer, Presto Grocer (the few I know) and if all the location is out of your reach like my case, just go to Aeon Big. I went to a standalone Aeon Big but they don’t carry Batiste so I figure I might get it easier from an Aeon Big located in a mall. So I drove to Aeon Big Alamanda Putrajaya and found it.

There are eight scents available to choose from. I saw all seven scents except for the scent Tropical. I must have missed it. But anyway seven scents is more than enough 😀 . Out of the seven scents, I went for Blush. Blush is a floral and flirty scent. You know me an floral scented stuff. We are inseparable.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush Scent
Nothing to shout about on the can. It is a typical aerosol can similar to hair spray. One thing to note is that the powder substance will accumulate on the spray nozzle as time goes by.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is designed as a quick and convenient way to get soft, clean and fresh smelling hair minus the shampoo gel and water. This is great to be used in between hair wash because you know some people don’t wash their hair everyday. That’s not all why Batiste is well-loved all around. With the formula it has, it can revitalize greasy, dull and lifeless hair, fix fly-away hair by thickening it and adds texture and volume for styling.

If you’re a newbie to Batiste Dry Shampoo, there is a small trick on making it to work. I remember I used it wrongly for the first time and my hair is greasier than before. After lots of trial, I finally got it right. Basically you just need to section your hair, SHAKE THE CAN VIGOROUSLY before spraying (very important), hold the can a hand away and spray on the roots along the section line. But I wanted my hair to look just like I had a hair wash so I’d spray on top of the head slightly as well. Now, massage through with your fingers. The trick here is to shake the can like a mad woman before using. If you did not mix the content well, you will get an even more greasier hair. Bear in mind the content contain powdery substance, which I assume is to absorb all the oil and add volume to the hair so massage until all the powder is gone. You will end up with a pair of powdery hand thereafter.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush How To Use
Here is the Before and After 😀 . Hair feels clean, flowy, easy to style and smells good too. One thing I regretted is not getting the Original scent first. Blush smells pretty strong. I can smell it even after a few hours. I normally used it in the morning before I left for work. My scalp can get a little bit greasy eventhough I’ve washed my hair the night before so Batiste Dry Shampoo solved my oily scalp problem. It is something that has been bothering me for a very long time.

  • ooh!! My favourite dry shampoo (Bcoz its ridiculously cheap when i make my friend buy it from the UK as compared to the ones in Sephora) Thanks for the update that its in town!! Pricier as compared to UK prices though. Its 5 pounds for the 400g can, so it comes out to be about the price of the regular size here. Still a good price as compared to the Sephora.

    • Sephora one is Percy & Reed right? The brand itself is expensive. Batiste is so much better. Good for my wallet too haha!
Everything that was brought in to Malaysia will be higher than origin country. But still cheaper comparing to online/IG seller 😀

    • I have fine hair which is hard to style. Batiste makes the styling so much easier. It’s definitely more than a dry shampoo 😀

  • Seriously, nothing beats a good old soap and suds shampoo session for the hair but when out of water and during a zombie apocalypse, this will save the day.
I spent much of my last Aussie trip hauling varieties of dry shampoo back but it’s good news that it is now available here. No more lugging this bulky stuff back again so I can make more room for good candy instead. The other thing I always make sure I haul back from Oz is quality Baklava which I can’t get here at all.
So grateful that this country is finally joining the first world, one beauty product at a time…only wish we would get things cheaper given that we earn much less in comparison.

    • P.S. Love your usage tips as well. It really does take some technique to get it to work.

      • Thanks 🙂 . I know what you mean. Before using it, I’ve been reading a bunch of reviews. Some of it said it makes their hair greasy. It does if you don’t shake the can like a mad mad woman 😀

    • Agreed! I only used this in the morning. Hair is somewhat greasy the next morning probably due to sleeping with slightly damp hair occasionally haha. Oh Baklava. I don’t think you have it here too. This country is finally getting there bit by bit. I couldn’t be happier!

  • Thanks for this review 🙂 I love the mad woman description ahaha. The before and after effect is so AMAZING! This is love 🙂 I have review about dry shampoo but did not put more thoughts into it because it was not sold here and I am still a shampoo and water type of person. But your photos made my jaw drop! Just amazing!!! Thanks for sharing this goodie and the locations as well as tips. You are the best!

    • Hahahaha me always are like a mad woman lol. Me too. I would prefer to shampoo my hair every evening. Some people only wash their hair like twice or thrice a week and they use dry shampoo on the gap. I also read that it doesn’t work more than 2 days because it’s too much on the scalp i.e. congested.

  • I just bought this dry shampoo from Watson in Singapore. But instead of buying the 200ml, i bought few bottles of 50ml because girl loves to stuff her handbag hahah Thanks for the tips btw! Will definitely try this tomorrow

    • How I wish we have 50ml here. In fact I wanted the 50ml one to put in my handbag 🙂 . But I’m already half way down the 200ml. So 50ml will not last long haha 🙂

  • Bought 2 botols; cherry(love this packaging <3 ) and XXL volumn at Bangsar Vilage grocer last 2 week. Newbie on dry shampoo. I have a oily scalp and still wash my hair daily. Only apply this whenever I feel my hair is greasy and flat! Love it and tq for the detail guideline. 🙂

    • Same here. Wash my hair daily but scalp is oily the next day. This has been my must-have quick fix before dashing out of the door 😀
I’m looking forward to try other scent. I think I’ve used up half of the can haha.
Glad to hear the guideline helps! 🙂

  • Yes, this is a very good product. But Batiste now also comes in “Color” variant. Since all of their fragrances having white-ish base powder, it will somehow leaves a whiter spots on your hair. “Color” variant of Batiste provides few tones Black to Brown to Blonde (depending what color your hair is) so that the spot / marks left on our hair is the same color of the hair itself, which is good

    • Oh yes Ray. I saw the “Color” variant. I think I saw blonde version. Didn’t pay attention for black haha. Thank you so much for the much needed info. I’ve been leaving a huge white spot on my car head rest lol

      Reply
      • hehee….white disadvantage is that yes but black will have its disadvantage too. Black or brown color variant will follow your hair color but this time around it leaves a blackish / brownish stain in between your finger nails, which quite messy also as we need to massage our hair after spraying it (before combing) Maybe to counter this, need to use gloves lol!

So normal Batiste leaves some whitish spots on hair (if you didn’t massage & comb evenly) while color variant Batiste leaves stain in between our finger nails… which one would you prefer?? hmmm

        Reply
        • Hehe that’s true. I don’t mind the white powder that much. Usually I’d massage like a mad woman before washing my hand 😀

  • Woah!!! Where can I get this in Melaka?? I guess I only can get it online right? Was searching for dry shampoo for quite some time but I just don’t know which is good one. Tried 1 last time from the beauty box name Shaire London and feel its quite good.
I use to wash it everyday but now I just want to sleep more than everything. hahaha… Too tiring to care about my hair because I need to blow dry my hair everytime after washing it and working from 7am to 10pm just make me care less about my hair anymore… I wanna try this la. At least my hair don’t feel itchy or smell if i don’t wash it.

    • Hey I saw in lazada for RM29.90!! 😀

      • Cheaper than other online! 🙂

    • Any Aeon Big (formerly known as Carrefour) at Melaka? Otherwise there’s a lot of IG or online seller selling this. I didn’t try Shaire London. I heard it’s smelly and greasy. I’m more comfortable with aerosol spray type 🙂
I cannot sleep if I don’t wash my hair or brush my teeth hehe. But if you don’t have oily scalp like me, you can alternate hair wash 🙂 . Dry shampoo will be your best friend.

      • No Aeon Big in Melaka!! How pathetic. hahahaha… yea I can’t sleep without washing my hair but I try to tolerate as much as I can. Sometimes I feel like there are things moving in my scalp if I don’t wash my hair. But no choice cause I might reach home at 11pm and after bath and blow dry maybe around 1am and I need to get up at 6am. So… I try to wash a bit later the day before so it can last longer without the oilyness. Shaire London is OK. Smell weird but not really smelly. It makes my hair a bit smooth as well. But I also use it like you taught here, need to massage the scalp then it will be fine.

        Reply
        • It definitely smells weird 😀 😀 Order online would be fine as well or you can get your sis/mum to buy then courier to you hehe
