Review: Skin Care SK-II Skin Care - Eye Care

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence-Eye: Plumps up the under eye instantly, reducing the appearance of fine lines

For the pas few months, I’ve been using a new eye cream. It was all good until I discover that it is not hydrating enough for my under eye. Fine lines were intensified and new fine lines emerged due to the dryness. I didn’t want to waste that eye cream as I’m was about to finish the tube so I continued using it. Just a few weeks ago, I excitedly took this SK-II Facial Treatment Essence-Eye out from my stash and I’m totally blown away with the product within the first week.

I always think eye cream is a tricky product to review, whether or not it is sponsored. What if I like it but it doesn’t do anything to my fine lines? What if it feels comfortable on my under eye and I saw positive result but the camera doesn’t pick it up? All that doesn’t matter if I decided not to review it but when something I like and it works, I want to tell everyone about it. That’s what happened with this SK-II Facial Treatment Essence-Eye.

By now you already know SK-II is known for their iconic Facial Treatment Essence or FTE or Miracle Water as some fondly called it. This new eye cream within the Pitera™ range combines the powerful Pitera™ with the new Eye Albus Complex to reduce the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, giving a crystal clear look around the eyes. I do have dark circles thanks to all the late nights however my main concern is fine lines. I have lots of that and I’m not happy with it as it makes me look haggard and old.

Let’s talk about the bottle. Oh my gosh. I’ve been using really expensive eye cream with really realllllllyyyyy crappy plastic packaging that shattered upon hitting the ground. No kidding. This Facial Treatment Essence-Eye here is absolutely top notch. Of course it is. If it’s not I’d turn into incredible hulk for the price I paid 😛 . The pump is so smooth that I can easily press it half way down to dispense lesser product. One thing I like about SK-II is, you paid the price and they give you high quality product and packaging.

Now the smell. Facial Treatment Essence itself contain over 90% Pitera™ in it therefore the smell is quite strong and sour. I can detect a hint of Pitera™ in the eye cream itself and I was surprised that it is quite pleasant and doesn’t smell strong. The eye cream finishes to a velvety satin with a hint of glow. I like that it doesn’t dries down to complete matte because that would be drying on my eyes. Overall, the texture is quite unique. I like it 🙂

SK-II is all about improving the five dimension of the skin. The same concept is used on this Facial Treatment Essence-Eye. It use Pitera™ goodness and add that with the new Eye Albus Complex to improve the five dimensions of skin around the eye area such as texture refinement, firmness power, radiance enhancement, less dark circles and less fine lines as well as visible signs of damage. This new innovation are said to brighten and rejuvenate tired skin around the eyes. Here’s what Facial Treatment Essence-Eye does to my under eyes.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence-Eye Before and After
As I said earlier, all the sudden I was suffering from dryness under eyes. So dry that more fine lines emerged and the current fine lines intensified and the line became longer 🙁 . Another issue I notice is that powder tend to crease badly on the area. I knew it had something to do with the eye cream I was using. I’m glad I took this out to use. This eye cream works by plumping up my dry skin on the under eye, reducing the appearance of fine lines. I experience lesser powder creasing on my under eye ever since I started using Facial Treatment Essence-Eye 😀

I will be putting this eye cream aside for a while because *excited* I will be going on SK-II Magnetic Eye Wand trial. This has always been in my wishlist ever since I saw it first hand at RAEview YouTube video. Will keep you posted on that in two more weeks 😉

  • Oh boy, I recently realised eye cream is NOT something you should be skimming off! Some weeks back, I switched to The Body Shop’s Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel. After a few days, I realised the area around my eyes were very sensitive to the touch and my under eyes started to bumpy-ish looking. So I immediately stopped using the eye gel and changed to some samples of Melvita’s Youthful Eye Contour Cream. Phew, luckily it worked really well and I think the area around my eyes are smoother than before. So lesson of the week for me, don’t simply buy eye cream just because it’s cheap!

    • That’s horrid! I never skip eye cream unless I was sick on bed. That’s the only time I skip everything (and bath lol). I have issues with my eyes so I do too take eye care seriously. Really regretted that I did not start young.
I’m so glad you managed to pin point that it’s the eye gel that has been giving you issue and stop using immediately. Phew!

  • Which would you recommend Fiona? FTE Eye or Stempower Eye Cream? Love your review btw. Appreciate that you include a before and after.

    • Either one is good. Stempower is more thicker in consistency so it will take a longer time to absorb. I’m using Magnetic Eye Wand to help with the absorption. If you just want to maintain. FTE Eye is enough.

  • Eye cream for the win! I like SK-II because like you said, you pay for the quality of packaging and also product. This one worked wonders for you as the line softened under your eyes! Yup, I have learnt that eye cream is definitely a worthwhile investment and I will gladly starve to buy it 🙂

    • I hope in the long run those lines will be reduced because it’s getting more serious haha. One thing good about spending on eye cream is that it takes a very long time to finish a tub or bottle 😀
