Estée Lauder Make Up - Face Review: Make Up Review: Skin Care Skin Care - Sunblock/Sunscreen

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++: Superb sun protection, hydrating, non-oily and it makes a good makeup base as well

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++ came to me at the right time, just before my road trip up north to Penang. I couldn’t think of the most perfect time to test out this sunscreen other than a place as hot as Penang. I’m not sure about you but the Northern part of Malaysia has always been hotter than KL in my context.

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector
Even before the road trip, I’ve been using this Crescent White UV Protector everyday under my makeup. To be honest, I was expecting a heavy sunscreen judging from it’s creamy white consistency and that my face would be a total oil slick within the next few hours so I was really surprised to find out that I experience none of those. Tsk tsk tsk. Never judge a book by it’s cover, eh? 😀

Why? Let me tell you why. Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector may be a SPF 50/PA++++ product, however it is made as a fast-absorbing, lightweight UV protector AND it also creates a smooth base for makeup to glide on. Now, that explains pretty much all about this product.

I’m not so picky when it comes to sunscreen product. The only criteria I’m looking for is only as long as it doesn’t make my face into an oil slick. That’s about it. The product smells like “Estée Lauder” – luxury and pleasant 😀 The texture runs across light-creamy consistency. It is definitely not the type of sunscreen that dries down matte. It can be a tad bit oily at first after application but once your foundation and powder goes on top of it, all of the oiliness disappear. In fact, it is the oiliness hydrating factor from the sunscreen that helps to keep my ‘dry on the inside, oily on the outside’ skin properly hydrated and with that, excess sebum are kept at bay. What I also notice was that my foundation doesn’t slip throughout the day. As an impromptu makeup base, it performs exceptionally better than I expected!

For a sunscreen, this Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++ retailing for RM180 could be on the high side for most people. Having said that, you don’t need a lot per use due to it’s creamy consistency and that it provides a full cycle brightening, which is a plus point for someone that are into brightening like I do. I applied this product on top of Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Moisture Créme and it was funnily heavy and oily so if you do have really oily skin, use a lighter moisturizer. I only brought all brightening skincare along with me to Penang and the foundation matte everything down so it was all good for me 😀

Being the scary cat me, I also applied this sunscreen all over my body for moisture and sun protection before I left the hotel for the sun. It was not sticky at all even after hours later. I wanted to get myself tan a bit but seems like Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector has been doing a great job that I’m still the same shade as I was before leaving KL. Damn…lol.

  • Did you have a good trip to Penang Fiona? I have been following your Insta update on Penang. Thank you for bringing us around with you. The videos are funny :). It’s a good thing you brought EL UV Protector along with you to test. You are right. There could be no other better time to test the product out. Since you mentioned that it doesn’t make your skin oily, I’m going to get one.

  • Hi Fiona, thanks for bring up this review. I have never dare to try any Estee Lauder sunscreen after using the CyberWhite version. It’s just give me a shell of oily “mask” on my skin after apply it. Perhaps, I have to try this Crescent White version to get rid of my fear to Estee Lauder sunscreen =P

    • Hi Citrine, my pleasure to share! I was given the product to try without review obligation but I thought I should share what I think about it since I have oily skin and most people would be interested to know how does it fare with oily skin 🙂
I’ve read about the CyberWhite version. It kinda leaves a layer of something on the skin like the creme isn’t it? This new Crescent White range is improvised version and it’s totally different 😉
