L'Oréal Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation: One great mattifying foundation but clings onto wrinkles and dry patches

How many of you could not stop buying foundation? Raise your hand! I am one of them but I try to control. So far I have succeeded and has been doing a good job in an attempt to finish up my current foundation stash. Having said that, I do have the tendency to buy makeup products that are not available in Malaysia. Among the things I want is two foundation, one from L’Oreal and one from Maybelline. The one I really really want is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
I was lucky to stumbled upon an Instagram seller that has the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation ready stock. It is almost impossible to find seller that will stock up ready stocks so after debating with my own devil in the mind for a few hours, I bought it. I have heard that finding the right shade for this foundation is a bit tricky as there are 12 shades in total. This foundation is only available oversea so the shades are more or less customized to their skin colours and I’m an Asian! I must admit I was terrified. I usually go for the lightest shade but this time, the lightest shade is too pinkish for me so I went for 103 Natural Buff, which is the 3rd lightest shade my seller has.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation offers up to 24 hours matte but not flat coverage. It has a light consistency with demi-matte finish. When it said “light consistency”, that means this foundation is not a full coverage foundation. I have been reading tons of review on this foundation saying it’s crazy matte on them despite the demi-matte claim. Understandably other countries tend to be colder than Malaysia thus the full matte on them. Because of all the reviews, I was expecting this foundation to be REALLY matte on me 😀

On me, this foundation is not full coverage on first try. I was using a brush. It is also quite streaky when used with a brush. It sets as soon as you have your brush glides on your skin. I was surprised as I have never used anything like that before. It is crazy matte on me immediately after application. Because of this, my forehead wrinkles became very visible mid-way through my makeup routine and those nasty lines does not disappear even after 12 hours! I was frustrated. No matter how I brush them away, my forehead wrinkles just stay creasing all day. I was thinking that a stippling brush would be a great brush to use with the foundation so I bought a Real Techniques Stippling Brush and I love it. It really does gives an airbrush finishing as claimed by Real Techniques. Then I remember Desi Perkins was saying that she prefer to use a beauty blender with this foundation as it’s too drying on her so I tried the method and guess what? I love this foundation even more with a beauty blended. It takes away the matteness a bit during application so it does not settles into dry patches or wrinkles as much as using a brush.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation Before and After
103 Natural Buff is a teeny bit too dark on me so I always have to apply the foundation further down my neck, which I do not really like as it stains my necklace and dress. If I don’t, I will look 1-2 tone darker. I did not find this foundation to oxidize on me during the mid day. As for the mattifying effect, it was alright. Not as matte as I thought it would be. My nose still turns oily an hour after makeup but the rest of the face region stays matte. By the end of the day my inner cheeks, forehead and chin are oily as usual.

I cannot make up my mind if I like this foundation or not. I find this to be pretty similar to Bourjois Air Mat foundation except that Air Mat is more dewy and yellowish than Infallible Pro-Matte. After using both foundation alternately for the consecutive 2 weeks, I prefer L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation more 🙂 . Oh and I must tell you about the scent. It does have a woody scent to it but it does not bothers me that much 🙂

    • Hi Timalata, yes. They do have some reputation when it comes to selling products from the US. Another seller I suggest you could look into is doodletoodle.
