Lifestyle Sunday: Itchy Legs Ran Spirit of WIPRO Run 2016

Spirit of WIPRO Run
Last weekend upon returning from my Singapore trip, I headed straight to Spirit of WIPRO Run the next wee early morning to do a quick 8km run. Despite being completely tired and zombie-fied from the lack of sleep, however the itchy legs said they wanted to run. And run I did.

Spirit of WIPRO Run is an annual charity event held concurrently around the world where thousands of WIPRO employess, families, friends, customers, suppliers and partners run together on the same day at a different location. For Malaysia, this year marks its 6th year with the theme “Powered by Ambition”. I learnt that WIPRO employees and their family members participated for free whereas friends, vendors, business partners and suppliers only need to contribute RM10 each in order to participate. RM10! Now that is the cheapest running event fee I have ever heard. And with this RM10, they each get a race pack consisting of a t-shirt, cap and a few products from WIPRO.

As this is a charity event for WIPRO, this year sponsored children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Triniti Selangor are also invited to join the event. Not many people know that the company has been sponsoring all the children’s tuition fees for the past two year under the company’s corporate quote Wipro Cares.

The participation received doubled from previous years, amounting more than 4,300 participants showing up at Lake Garden. I have experience with parking issue with the lake before so I woke up extra early say 4am, left my house at 5am in order to reach before 6am to get myself a nearer parking space. The run broke down to two categories – Men and Women Open 8km and 3km Fun Run. However finisher medal are only for 8km runners and top 3 runners from every category received a special medal each.
