While I was at The Body Shop Piñita Colada collection and Polynesian Island Tiaré collection media preview back in June, I was also introduced to the new Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF50 PA++++. This is one sunscreen that everyone in The Body Shop was excited with. The name might confuse you a little as it was not named as sunscreen or a sunblock but a Multi-Protection Essence. Essence is the new sunscreen perhaps?
The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence is the brand’s first light-weight and highest SPF protection. It has a SPF50 PA++++ UVA and UVB protection as well as anti-oxidant protection and anti-dullness properties. The product comes in a watery milky consistency, as The Body Shop refers it to as milk-to-water essence. Because the consistency is so watery and it comes in a squeezy tube like this, it tend to flood up the inner rim of the cap. Not so sure if I like the tube to go with this type of consistency as I have to put my tube upside down, sticking it up somewhere in my arcylic drawer.
The scent however, I love! It smells so good and it reminds me of something else but I could not put my finger to it. This is one sunscreen I cannot stop using. I have been using so much that I tried to deter away from it but I always return. I really like the light-weight texture. It has a bit of cooling sensation to it and what I like the most is how fast the product disappear. After so many layers of skincare, I really do not want another sticky or oily sunscreen layer before my makeup and this one is perfect for my liking. I particularly like to use this whenever I go out for running as it does not leave a sticky residue on my face. Psst! I even slather it all over my arms LOL.
This Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence is said to have another benefit called anti-dullness. It is said that it has red algae extract and vitamin C to brighten skin for a more luminous complexion. Honestly, I do not see any difference on the luminous complexion claim. All I know is that my makeup sits beautifully on top of this sunscreen and that it does not make my face greasy throughout the day. That is what I am always looking for when it comes to a face sunscreen.
What about you? What is your preference when it comes to sunscreen?
