I have been enjoying my Laura Mercier Joie de Vivre products so much so that I have totally forgotten to tell you about it . I was thinking to review the lipstick first but suddenly yesterday I wanted to talk about the Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes. Then, as I was typing my review away, I decided to lump both products into one lol. Like a friend said – redirect the heart. And I redirected twice!

This beautiful Laura Mercier parcel arrived unexpectedly from KENS Apothecary. I’m always grateful to them for letting me try their products without any commitment. Joie de Vivre is Laura Mercier’s Spring 2017 color collection. The entire collection consists of one Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes, three Velour Lovers Lip Colour, three Lip Pencil, one Tightlight Cake Eyeliner, and one Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara. Joie de Vivre makeup collection evolves around the idea of bringing the natural color in your skin for a healthy and youthful glow.

Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes in Windflush

Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes is a multi-purpose baked powder that is said to be universally flattering. This, I find it to be true. Well, that was not what I think at first try but after using it for several times, I finally get it to work with my typical makeup do. At first glance, it looked like a baked bronzer. I would be jumping up and down if it was. However I am not disappointed at all. The warmth of Windflush, the shade for the Joie de Vivre collection is absolutely beautiful. I have to be careful with the contouring I do if I want to use this blush for the day. That is because the shade on my skin is close to bronzer. So if I am heavy handed with my bronzer as contour and then apply this as a blush, I may look like I have a big blob across my cheek. I like that I can use the warmth of Windflush to top up on my contour. It goes on the skin looking a little peachy but warm. I love this kind of shade especially as crease shade. Yes, I do use it as eyeshadow too. The powder is very light-weight so a heavy swirl of the brush is needed. I don’t see a lot of fallout, which is good as the powder is really baked.

The packaging of Joie de Vivre are kept simple and it has cute writing on it. The shiny surface do leave fingerprints all over it. You know how crazy I go when I see fingerprints but I always clean up all my makeup after each use so in the end it doesn’t bother me

This is how Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes in Windflush shade looks like on me. I didn’t do a hand swatch because it doesn’t show up on the back of my hand. As I said, the powder is very light-weight. You have to really get your brush on the pan to pick up more products. I like how the payoff looks natural as a blush. Almost blended in by itself with my contour shade.

I didn’t see this on KENS Apothecary website now. It may be sold out but if you are interested, do check it out at their stores to see if they still have it.

Joie de Vivre Velour Lovers Lip Colour (RM129 / 3.6g)

I kept both of the Joie de Vivre Velour Lovers Lip Colour for the longest time ever because I thought they are some creamy or glossy lipstick and if you know me well enough, you will know that I like matte lipstick. Until one day I had an itch to open a new lipstick to use and I had been thinking about these lipstick so I took the shade Joy to use. OH MY GOD. I literally had a shock of my life as these goes on matte! It’s kinda hard to get the color on my lips so I took the box to read. Duh Fiona!

It turns out these Velour Lovers Lip Colour are matte metallic lipstick! I had a lot of matte lipstick but not metallic. So I was kinda excited. As you know, metallic lip product is kinda in the trend now. It turns out Laura Mercier is up to the trend too.

These lipsticks are like a peekaboo. It looked dry from the bullet itself, it goes on the lip hard and dry thanks to the metallic in it but it is not drying at all. Like seriously not even a bit drying. I like that I don’t feel any lip product on my lips. It lasts on me the entire day, all through food and drinks. No touch up needed at all as the lipstick doesn’t wears off from the lips entirely. Whenever I had the shade Joy on me, everyone will ask me what lipstick I’m using. It’s really flattering.

It has a buildable pigmentation. When you apply a few times, it become a full on full coverage lipstick. I read from Laura Mercier website that this lipstick has mattifying powders with moisturizing mango butter combination that enables a matte finish that doesn’t dry the lips. My favourite colour? Joy of course! It has a purplish shade to it and you know I like purple

I find that both shade Joy and Happy are almost similar. I hardly could tell them apart on the lips! But the swatches are clear. Joy has pink tone, while Happy is a straight on red.

Laura Mercier Holiday Collection 2016 consists of three parts; makeup, body & bath and skincare. I think I missed the skincare set at the preview *oppss so today I will only focus on the makeup and body & bath, aight?

Before I bought Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (Oil Free), I can almost confirm and very sure that I will like it. Yeap! Even before I bought it no thanks to all the raving review online. I am so sure that I even dream of it. When I FINALLY bought it (at a really cheap price) I couldn’t wait any longer and used it immediately the next day. Heck! My world came crashing down over me.

You might not expect this coming right? Behold cause this review ain’t going to be a pleasant one.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (Oil Free) is said to have oil controlling ingredients to ensure long wear and flawless application. Foundation Primer is meant to be used after sunblock and before foundation. Besides keeping makeup fresh and stay longer all day long it also create a layer that acts as a protection to outside elements from penetrating into the skin.

A reader recently requested for a point form review. Nah here you go :). The summary of Foundation Primer (Oil Free).

• Specifically created for oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin types; oil free
• Contains high water content and addresses surface dehydration around active blemishes
• Oil controlling ingredients ensure long-wear and flawless application
• Vitamins A, C, and E act as antioxidants & protect the skin from harmful, aging effects of the environment
• Cooling Foundation Primer in the refrigerator is refreshing for the skin and reduces puffiness
• Non-comedogenic

The one I bought is not the full size but it’s the deluxe travel size which is more pocket-friendly. If only all other brands are selling their deluxe sizes. It would be great for someone who get tired of using the same thing again and again *points at self*

Either size… both comes with a screw top cap. I don’t have problem with this type of packaging as the primer is quite solid so it doesn’t overflow when I unscrew the cap off. I kind of like this shiny tube because it’s so small, cute and travel-friendly as well.

Here is the dollop of Foundation Primer and swatch on my hand.

Honestly and seriously. I really have no idea why everyone love this Foundation Primer so much. Thus the rave and hype. For oversea user I can understand. For Malaysia’s humid hot weather it’s not helping at all. I have oily skin to begin with. Getting the oil free version seems like the sane thing to do but noooo. My face is still as oily as ever. This have no oil control at all as opposed to what was claimed by Laura Mercier. Because of this my foundation especially on my nose area slipped off. So the long-wear and flawless application claim also doesn’t work on me. It took me so many try and it’s still the same.

The scent is a yuck! It’s awful! It smells plastic-ky which is similar to the rubbery plastic smell that you get from Barbie Doll. Thank goodness the scent went off after the primer sets on the face. Otherwise I’d be throwing up. I wonder why is it so smelly?

Laura Mercier application advice is to first create an even surface then massage a liberal amount of primer all over the face for a few minutes. Massaging the skin is stimulating and healthy for the skin. I’ve tried this method but no use. I’ve read that the recommended amount to use is just a pea size. Today I used a pea size for the whole of my face which is not enough and kinda dry but dry is always good for oily skin like mine. I was crossing my fingers and toes that this pea size amount will work wonders but it’s still the same except that the oil control was slightly better.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (Oil Free) is the one product from Laura Mercier that I was excited to try and purchase but gives me a major let down. I was expecting a lot from this after reading all the positive review from other blogs but was so disappointed that this doesn’t work for my skin. Read the fine print “my skin”. You may have oily skin and this may still works for you but unfortunately not on my skin. I suppose ladies with normal or dry skin would prefer this over anything else as it could have work much better on their skin type.

When I pick this up at the counter the BA took a look at me and asked me why would I want to get this. She said I need Secret Finish and not this. Now I understand why. I told her because it’s only RM38! And thank God it’s only RM38 that I paid.

Most of you would be kicking yourself right now.

Yesterday right after I returned to my office after lunch I saw Laura Mercier update appears on my Facebook newsfeed. Apparently they are having a 1-day International Women’s Day special for their iconic Foundation Primer deluxe size for just RM38. Okay, I sort of bang my head on my laptop the moment I read that. They should have posted it in the morning! And I have a meeting to rush to after lunch. After I calm down I gather my thought back and rethink. The promo is only for one day and it’s only applicable for first 38 customers which means they only have 38 units I presume? It’s not bad after all to post after lunch. There isn’t anyone commenting yet which means not many people knew about it SO…the chances of me getting one is quite high.

However the ml of the deluxe size is not stated. I quickly google for info and I found out that there’s 2 size possibilites – 30ml or 14.7ml. Since it’s worth RM85 I assume it’s going to be 30ml. 30ml is a mini!! I’d be darn happy if it’s 30ml.

Ohhh ya. Some of you are going to hate me for posting this. It’s 30ml y’all! I was given a choice of getting a regular or oil free version. So I got the oil free version for obvious reason. I tried my luck to get two but the BA doesn’t allow me to. I understand since it’s so limited. My friend went to Pavilion outlet and they allowed her to buy two. How unfair is that??

But anyway lots and lots of brands are coming up with special promotion for special occasion like this International Women’s Day. I’ve seen regular 10%, 20% discount, RM38 discount etc and so far this is the best promotion ever! Laura Mercier is so generous. Thank you for that. I’ve always wanted to try Laura Mercier Foundation Primer.
