When Muji came around, everyone went crazy over their acrylic especially the drawer box. Beauty enthusiasts all over the world raved about it and I’m sure you can find millions of review, blog, video and organization tips photos of it on the net. Me on the other hand was feeling meh over their acrylic box. I’m not liking the fact that it is clear and you can see everything from the outside. Plus I’m not keen with all the finger prints or makeup residue prints on these clear box.

As you know, I’m kinda into glassware at the moment (yes still) so naturally I’m attracted to clear makeup organizer. One day, one of my long time reader Tiffany Tai PM-ed me on Facebook saying ‘found something, I think you will like it’ together with Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit photo, I thought she was just telling me that Muji has makeup organizer. But when she told me there is a 30% sale for both of it, I wanted to dash to Muji right away.

Muji Acrylic Drawer Box
I couldn’t remember how big or wide the Muji Acrylic Drawer Box is so I didn’t set any target to purchase it immediately. When I saw the size, I was relieved that it is quite huge but the drawer height is not as deep as I think it would be. Just 2.5cm. I took my time browsing, comparing and gave it a deep thought if I could ever fit my eyeshadow palettes in it. That’s what I needed it for.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box retails for RM86.90, which rounds up to RM60.80 after 30% discount and the Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit retails for RM52.90, which rounds up to RM37 after 30% discount. I did however did a quick calculation at home to figure out if I should get the 5-tier or two of the 3-tier unit. It turns out that each tier is around RM12-ish for both type so I decided to buy the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box
Since many people commented that “I always go Sephora” whenever I share great deals I spotted at the store on Instagram, I have decided not to share so much great deals anymore. So you will see lesser from me from now on. But you know me. I just couldn’t keep anything good to myself especially this 30% OFF deal. Thus the reason why you’re reading this now.

Back to the Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box. There’s a few things I don’t like about it. First is the hole where you slid in a finger to pull the drawer out. I would prefer a proper dainty handle because dust somehow will sneak into the drawer unit through the hole. And I know I will get foundation prints all over the side. So, that’s what it is. What I DO LIKE about the Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box unit is that the quality is absolutely top notch. All the drawer slides out as smooth as butter. The outer wall is made from thicker acrylic while the drawer…not really.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Hole
I posted up on Instagram a few days ago on the sale and a quick review on what I think about it. I don’t know why accepting the fact that these Muji drawer unit are not for everyone seems to be hard on Muji fans. Bear in mind, I bought this unit to store my eyeshadow palettes so what I said or going to say will evolve around the purpose of my purchase. Not lipstick, not pencils, not brushes, not stationeries, not eyeshadow singles.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Space
For eyeshadow palettes, this will not be the best choice if you have lots of it and if they are all in odd sizes like mine. I was frustrated that I couldn’t fit all my eyeshadow palettes neatly without any gap. So I started to fit random products into the gap. The initial idea to fit nothing but eyeshadow palettes is now down the drain lol. It is also impossible to stack two thin palette because you will risk scratching the bottom of the upper drawer. Been there, done that.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Random Palettes
I totally get it when some people disagree with me that this doesn’t fit a lot of products. I do get it. I really do. As I said earlier, I bought it for a sole purpose and that is for eyeshadow palettes. I already knew that every other nitty-gritty things will fit a lot and neatly into the Muji acrylic drawer unit. I do know that. To prove that I really do know, I purposely fit some of my lip product in one of the drawer for picture sake. Yes these fits SO MUCH MORE and perfectly. I do get it seriously and I totally respect storage purpose of each individual. Just not my eyeshadow palettes. It’s just me.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Perfect for Lip Products
I don’t know what has gotten into me. It must be that I didn’t shop much recently and my hands are itching to shop so my mind went back to the Muji acrylic sale. This time I had my eyes on the Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit because it’s only RM37 after discount and that I’m building my lipstick collection so I foresee I will need the 3-tier unit. I went back a few days ago and bought it.

Muji Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit
At the moment I have nothing to store yet so I moved both Urban Decay Vice 2 and Vice 3 from the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box to the lowest drawer. I’m still figuring out the best way to organize both drawer box units and I’ve yet to line each drawer so that they are scratch free 🙂 Until then, this is what my current Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit has.

Muji Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit Big Palettes
Muji is currently having a 30% OFF markdown for Acrylic 5 Drawer Box & Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit only. I have check with the sales person at Muji Mid Valley and they said the markdown is until they run out of stock. According to them, the markdown is to make way for new designs. Also take note that not all Muji store are aware of the sale. Odd, I know. Tiffany bought her Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit from Sunway Pyramid store and I bought mine from Mid Valley store. Her friend later on went to the same Sunway Pyramid store to get the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and she was told that the discount only valid for Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit. ShopGirl went to Pavilion store and they told her there are no discount on acrylic products. She then went to Avenue K store and the sales person made a call to Mid Valley branch to confirm on the sale. It makes me wonder what happened to the communication between the head office to the stores. Why are all the stores not communicated properly with regards to the in-store promotion that is suppose to run simultaneously. Although I had a good experience with Mid Valley store, nonetheless I was shocked that this happened to Muji. ShopGirl and I both was saying that this is like Sephora all over again. Some store say this, some store say that, some say cannot use 10% discount, some say can.

I left the unit unattended for a day and when I took it out from the paper bag 2 days later, I saw a huge discolouration patch on the top of the box and that patch is staring at me from the corner where I was sitting. I called up Muji enquiring about exchanging as the receipt stated no exchange is permitted for sale item. I was allowed for an exchange and the process was done without any issue. Ai yai yai…

So if you’ve always wanted a Muji acrylic unit but think it’s too expensive like I do, this is the right time to get one. The markdown doesn’t have a due date but it’s while stock lasts. I went to Muji a few days ago and all the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box is more or less sold out.

Muji stores is located at Pavilion, Mid Valley, Avenue K and Sunway Pyramid.

Price:
+ Acrylic 5 Drawer Box – RM86.90, RM60.80 after 30% OFF.
+ Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit – RM52.90, RM37 after 30% OFF.

Sorry for the lack of update in the blog and Facebook recently. I am in the midst of buying a new car and selling off my current car all by myself which explains the mood swing, headache and chaos. It doesn’t help when JPJ changed all the buying and selling law again and again. All this is taking lots of my time. I hardly have time to sit down, what more photograph products and blog. Work on the other hand is not running as smoothly as I expected it to be. I have launched a new interactive automotive magazine app a few months ago and getting all the conventional car manufacturer to buy the totally new idea is really really tough. My bosses need to see profit right away and the reality is it won’t be that soon. I’m giving myself another two more months time and if all fails I will give in my resignation. Oh well. Life sucks at times. All this is so stressful and tough that I wanted to cry most of the time. I didn’t realized it’s that stress until I pull out one strand of white baby hair each day for the past few days. I don’t have any mood to even shop but this weekend I took time off from everything and drove out for a short shopping trip. Retail therapy is the best therapy of all time 🙂

Here’s what I came home with. I drove to two malls yesterday. Pavilion and KLCC.

Sunday Retail Therapy1

First stop is Pavilion. Etude House is having a massive sales and I have always wanted to get Etoinette Heart Blusher. The blusher is only at RM49.90 after discounted from usual retail price of RM159.90. Initially I only wanted one but somehow ended up with two. It’s too lovely to resist 🙂

Sunday Retail Therapy2
In less than half an hour I was out from Pavilion and drove to KLCC. I went to L’Occitane to redeem my birthday gift of RM20 cash voucher. I was lurking around La Collection de Grasse section and found perfumed soap. At first I only wanted to buy one but ended up with three, except vanilla. I’m not liking the smell of vanilla. In the end I bought all four as I saw the set that was already nicely packed. Then only I realized that those nicely packed ones are for display only. In real, customers will get just the soap itself. The SA was extremely kind and nice. He ask me if I want to wrap it. I said yes with the reason that it is a gift for other people lol. He gave me the set that was readily wrapped, put in a gift bag with a gift tag.

So the gift to myself is Jasmine & Bergamot Perfumed Soap, Magnolia & Mûre Perfumed Soap, Vanille & Narcisse Perfumed Soap and Thé Vert & Bigarade Perfumed Soap. Each bar of soap is retailing for RM37 each. I was given a 5% member discount from the total.

Sunday Retail Therapy3
While I was at Pavilion, I made a quick stop at Muji to buy the Peelable Cotton for RM10.90 per pack. This cotton is mainly for the use of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. I felt a bit waste if I discard the cotton pad after wiping. Peelable Cotton enable me to peel and placed on the face for 5 minutes before discarding. I’ve been doing that with normal cotton for quite some time now. It’s time to pamper myself more. And yes I do know I can get these from Daiso. I choose Muji because I’ve always wanted to get their cotton to try :).

Meanwhile I was at KLCC, I dropped by Clarins counter at Isetan to redeem my yearly birthday gift. This year there’s no funny pouches. Instead I was given a Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate With Essential Oils 100ml. Not sure if I should be happy or not. I’m happy that Clarins finally listen to their members on giving out product as birthday gift. But only one item? Sigh. I’m glad I don’t spend on them (yet) this year.

Sunday Retail Therapy4
Well, that’s all my haul for yesterday. Not a lot but definitely put a wide smile on my face. I’m thrilled that I managed to snag two Etoinette Heart Blusher. Although I only wanted one and the other one is purely impulsive haha! I prefer to buy things in pair especially limited edition item.

Hope you had a great Sunday too. I’ve posted one extremely good magazine GWP deal from Kinokuniya in my Facebook. Do check it out! You won’t regret it. Seriously.
