Korean Skincare Brand for Breakout Skin

Sometime in October, I had a bad breakout that lasted for a month. At that time I was desperate for a quick solution. As you already know, I’m not a big fan of Korean skincare because some of the are too hydrating on me hence giving me that oily complexion. But some, I love. You know who I turned to when I was doing my research on breakout skincare? The Korean brand of course! Koreans are known for their fair and flawless skin. I want that skin too so I started googling my way to find more info on which Korean skincare brand and products that are able to help with my breakout as well as to give me some of that flawless skin. I stumbled upon a few useful article at ProductNation Malaysia. They have varieties of useful articles on all the latest product reviews and roundups, featuring consumer favourites, on-trend reviews and many more in Malaysia. Beauty wise, ProductNation focuses more on Korean beauty trend, which is exactly right down my alley.

Here are what I learnt from my research and what works best for my skin.

Soothing Cleanser

Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam
There are a lot of cleanser specifically meant for acne/oily skin but one of the article in ProductNation mentioned about “soothing” combination skin. The Green Tea line from Innisfree is one of my favourite line so I will recommend this Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam. Besides the green tea extracts, it also has amino acids and minerals to keep the skin supple, smooth and sooth skin irritation. Plus it smells amazing too!

Skin Freshener

Mamonde Rose Water Toner
This may sound a little cheezy because Mamonde sent me a bottle of the Rose Water Toner a few months ago but the fact is, the Mamonde Rose Water Toner is one of the best toner available in the market, if not in the Korean brand range. For someone who love everything rose, this toner has 90.89% of real rose water extracted from Bulgaria’s Damask roses. Now, where do you get a toner a pure as this! It doesn’t contain mineral oil and all the bad synthetic pigments making this toner absolutely safe to use even for the most sensitive skin.

Soft Face Scrub

Skin Food Black Sugar Mask
Do I even need to say more about this Skin Food Black Sugar Mask? I bought 11 tubs of this and it is the only scrub I used to date. And that it was under one of the product recommendation at ProductNation makes me feel good about my product choice lol. I like this because the sugar will melts off as you are rubbing it on your face therefore it is not painful or harmful to the skin. The skin turned to super smooth, soft and supple after rinsing. I cannot tell you enough how much I love this.

Da Bomb Cream

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb
Over the recent months, I have been extremely intrigued with the brand Belif. I didn’t even know they’re a Korean brand! I’ve heard so much about Belif especially The True Cream – Aqua Bomb. I heard that this one is quite a seller and sort of blossomed into a must-have product. It is a gel moisturizer and has the ability to provide intense moisturization minus the sticky feeling. That is why this product are highly raved everywhere. Besides this cream, there are tons of other more products from Belif that I’ve heard of. Must try to clear out my medium-sized Sephora at home before splurging at Belif 🙂

Must-Have Sleeping Mask

Laneige Waterful Sharing Campaign 2017 Lavender
If you don’t have at least a tub of the cult Laneige Water Sleeping Mask at home, where have you been! I absolutely LOVE the original blue version and when Laneige launched the Lavender scented Water Sleeping Mask, it sent everyone out running to purchase it. That was because it is a limited edition launch here in Malaysia. I’m going to sound cheezy again because I am using the exact Lavender one at the moment and I’m not surprised ProductNation also recommended it as one of the top 10 Korean skincare products for combination skin.

Pimple Clear Pads

Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pads
This one is really a no-brainer product to have which I think everyone who constantly has breakout should own at home. The Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pads are already pre-soaked in betaine salicylate and willow bark water. It has dual function as a toner and chemical exfoliant. All done after cleansing without irritating the skin. It is said to be super effective in clearing up pimples and cystic acne on the face, chest and even back acne as well. I say this is one bomb product to own. Super convenient too!

Never Skip Whitening

Laneige White Dew Original Ampoule Essence
I spoke about the importance of using a whitening product to help lighten the acne marks even before it turned to a mark so many times here in the blog so how could I missed out the Laneige White Dew Original Ampoule Essence. White Dew range is a new range launched not too long again. Always incorporate minimum one whitening product in your skincare routine. It can be a serum, essence or cream. Whichever that is convenient for you and suits your routine. This one particular is a highly concentrated ampoule essence. Not only it can help with improving uneven skin tone, it also said to give a glowing skin. I just recently took out the cream version to use and I didn’t have anything bad to say about it.

One Last Important Product – Clay Mask!

Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask
In my recent Breakout Skincare Post, I talk about using mud mask aka clay mask as a must-have weekly treatment ritual. It is important to use something to suck out all the gunks from the inside. The Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask one is not a bad one except that it can be pretty dry. Having said that, I like how the mask contains 6020 mg of Jeju volcanic clay which is effective in removing impurities. It also comes in a mousse version which in my opinion is more convenient. Both works the same and dries down completely. It does have a volcanic ashy scent to it that makes the whole treatment feels like as if you are scooping real volvanic ashes and apply it on your face 😀

There you have it! Korean skincare products for breakout skin recommendation based on my search for the best skincare in Malaysia. Bear in mind these are just some of the products that I find suits my skin and preference. There are tons and tons more products that are also suitable for breakout skin so please do your research thoroughly. You will be amazed with what you can find through Google.

7 Secrets of a Glowing and Healthy Skin
It’s quite easy to maintain the natural shine of your skin if you know how to moisten it and what products to use for it. During summer and winter months, your skin requires a special care. You need to choose skin care products paying attention to the properties of its ingredients. Since many men name “beauty” one of the main reasons to date a girl from Ukraine, we asked these gorgeous women how they take care of their skin and here is what they recommend buying during your next beauty shopping.

1. Lip balm with oil

Your lips are the only part of the body that isn’t hydrated naturally. It means that you can’t do without additional products if you want soft and moisturized lips. Lip balms containing such natural ingredients as beeswax and coconut oil have the perfect moisturizing properties that prevent and heal dry, chapped lips. If you use a lipstick on a daily basis, apply lip balm as a base in order to protect lips from changes in temperature and harmful ingredients contained in the lipstick.

2. Natural hydration

Hydration is the key to beautiful winter skin. Drink enough water, cut down on caffeine and soda you usually drink during the day. Natural hydration can be achieved not only by consuming water but also by using beauty products based on water or natural oils. If you want to have soft and glowing skin, use premakeup moisturizers. Make sure they contain only natural ingredients. You can also use essential oils as a cheaper alternative to moisturizing face creams. A few drops of mandarin or almond oil will make your skin look fresh, toned, and hydrated. Don’t forget to use the sunscreen every time you leave your house, even in winter.

3. Matting without powder or foundation

Powder and foundation can cause dryness of the skin, especially during those seasons when your skin needs hydration. That is why you should refuse these products. There is a healthy way to mattify your skin using blotting paper. It rids your skin of excess sebum or oil, cleans and refreshes your face, and prevents spots.

4. Quality oils

There are different organic oils for different skin types. Each of them has its own consistence, so all you need to do is to choose the one that is right for you. Jojoba oil is the best choice for a hypersensitive skin since it is hypoallergenic. Seed and flower oils are also good for face care. Natural face oils not only moisturize the skin but also repair dry skin and combat acne scars.

5. Lip scrubs

Lips need exfoliation the same as face skin. You can buy a lip exfoliating scrub or make a DIY scrub of sugar. Use a kids toothbrush to apply the scrub or just rub sugar into your lips with your fingers. Remember lip scrub should be very gentle since lip skin is very delicate and easy to damage.

6. Aroma bath

Using essential oils in a bath is a great way not only to relax but also to improve your skin. Each essential oils has its own properties and if properly combined, their effect can reach the deep levels of skin. Use lavender, chamomile, and almond oils to remove irritation and soothe the skin and ylang-ylang, patchouli, and mandarin oils to refresh and tone up your skin.

7. Facial exfoliator

Using a scrub twice a week or even every day has a lot of advantages. First of all, when you apply it rubbing your skin thus massaging and stimulating blood flow. As a result your skin gets resilient and toned up. Secondly, it removes the old layer of dead skin and makes your skin cells “breathe” getting enough oxygen. You can make a facial scrub at home using a spoon of sugar and coconut or lemongrass oil.

A few ways to keep your skin young and healthy 4
Most of us start worrying about our skin only when we notice the first wrinkles. That’s why, to avoid skin aging, or at least delay it, you need to think about this problem in advance. Is it bad if the first wrinkles on your face begin appearing a few years later, and the skin will remain younger for a little longer? I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Hundreds of fashion magazines and websites give us a whole bunch of tips. And some of them are quite useful. I’d like to share a couple of them too. Each advice works great for both men and women. So, how to keep your skin healthy and clean longer? Here are a few ways to do so.

More water

You should take a small bottle of water with you wherever you go. Keeping the right water balance in your body is important, but try not to drink much an hour before going to bed. Otherwise, you may wake up with a swelling in the morning.

Don’t wash your face with hard soap

It dries your skin and slowly draws moisture from it. You may not feel anything now, but you’ll notice the result in a few years, but it will be too late. It’s better to use liquid soap for washing the face. If your skin is delicate, you should try foam. And one more thing – don’t wipe your face with a cloth towel. Paper napkins will work much better. With them, you can remove moisture from the skin, barely touching it.

Two or three times a week you can wipe your face with an ice cube; it refreshes the skin. This tip has one more advantage: you get a little energy boost.

Use creams regularly

Washing the face, toning the skin, and applying cream usually doesn’t take more than five minutes, but many of us are too lazy to do it every day, especially in the evening, after a hard working day. But after washing and applying face cream, you’ll feel fresh and full of energy, even if five minutes ago you were so tired that you couldn’t even speak.

A few ways to keep your skin young and healthy 2
Down with bad habits

Somebody may not know this yet, but smoking negatively affects the skin, so if you smoke, try to at least reduce the amount cigarettes smoked every day to a minimum. Besides, it’s much more pleasant to smoke one cigarette a day but with a cup of coffee, sitting on a balcony or in a café and reading a book than smoke a cigarette after a cigarette without getting any pleasure from it.

Lots of fruits

You need to eat five different types of fruit to keep all those little wrinkles under your eyes at bay. Daily consumption of fruits will improve the overall condition of your skin. Fruits can’t be replaced by any vitamins, even if you take tons of them.

Have enough sleep

Nothing affects our skin as badly as lack of sleep. It literally kills everything that keeps it healthy and young. You should sleep for at least seven hours a day. And more importantly, you need to sleep at night, as between 3 am and 5 am, our body restores itself.

If you don’t get enough sleep at night, soon, apart from depression and fatigue, caused by the almost complete absence of serotonin and circles under the eyes, you’ll also get a gray shade of face and enlarged pores. After that, collagen collapse will follow. And the last process is irreversible; the only thing that can help in this case is regular and costly subcutaneous collagen injections.

A few ways to keep your skin young and healthy 3
Nourishing face masks

Those who have oily skin should make nourishing masks two or three times a month. For normal skin, doing it once a week would be enough. But if you have dry skin, you need to make masks a couple of times a week. There are lots of great ready-made masks. You can also try a cucumber mask for narrowing pores, a kefir mask for whitening skin, or a strawberry mask to make your face look fresh. Such nourishing masks are extremely popular in Eastern Europe. Just look at those Slavic ladies, no wonder many girls envy and wish they have a good skin as Russian girl.

Watch what you eat

Stay away from anything spicy, salty, and sweet. Remove all canned and fast food from your diet. It’s also great to minimize (or completely give up) anything that contains yeast.

Apart from fast food, fried potatoes, and canned fish, the worst enemy of your skin is cheese. So cheese and other dairy products should also be avoided.

What else can you say about the diet? Avoid Coca-Cola and stuff like that. I know that for many of you, it may be difficult, but after a couple of weeks without soda, you’ll get rid of small annoying pimples on the forehead and temples. As a result, you won’t need a foundation and concealer anymore, and your friends will be asking you how you manage to keep your skin so healthy and fresh.

Professional help

Now, let’s talk about cosmetologists. How often do you need to visit them and do you need to? You shouldn’t give up visiting a cosmetologist. As for how often you need to do it, it depends on your skin. Those who don’t have serious skin problems can do a deep cleaning about once every six months, but nutritious masks and massage need to be done every two months.

In any case, if you’re visiting a cosmetologist, keep doing it. Just be sure to find a good specialist who will not only provide you with high-quality services but also give some advice on facial care.

How To Remove Cream Mask Effectively 1
I love cream masks. More than sheet mask, yes. If I can put on a mask for the day, I would go for cream mask anytime. Some think cream mask is troublesome and sloppy but I think the otherwise. I think sheet mask is sloppy lol. You get both your hands wet and sticky pulling the sheet mask out of the packaging, you get sticky essence dripping down your arm and neck *eeewww*. It is just too much. I think the reason why many people turned to sheet mask rather than cream mask is because they can just peel the sheet mask off and leave the remaining essence on, while for cream mask you need to wash them off. It does not make any difference to me as I would still wash my face regardless which type of mask I use. I just don’t like sticky face. Personal preference 😉

Let’s talk about cream mask and how to remove cream mask effectively. The thing about cream mask that make everyone cringes is the need to wash them off and that it takes hella long to wash them off. Yeap! This one I have to admit is kinda annoying – having to stand at the sink splashing your face with water again and again. Some people I know do what the Western do; they use a face cloth. I have tried this method and I don’t like it. Sorry. Personal preference again. Since my skin has changed from oily to dehydrated/dry now, I remove most of my cream mask using facial toner. Yes you heard me right. Toner. Not micellar cleansing water but a toner.

How To Remove Cream Mask Effectively 2
Removing cream mask these days has been so much easier and effective thanks to Hada Labo Kiwamizu Lotion. Its highly hydrating watery consistency is able to restore moisture to my skin without the sticky residue. It removes cream mask so easily with just one or maximum two cotton square. What I really like about using the Kiwamizu Lotion is that it comes in a mist bottle. All I have to do is to mist like crazy onto my face, literally flooding the entire face with the lotion. The wetter the better!

How To Remove Cream Mask Effectively 3
Then take a cotton square and wipe all of the cream mask off. You know I like to apply my skincare thick so this method and product pretty much take everything off in a jiffy. If you do not have a misting toner like this one, just use a normal toner.

Why toner? Toner brings back the moisture to the face while removing the mask. They are typically more hydrating so I find toner fits the job. Micellar cleansing water as they name said it all is a cleansing product. I do not feel comfortable leaving cleansing product on the face no matter how convincing the brand is with their “no rinsing required” claim. I still feel you need to wash off cleansing water from your face no matter what. It is a cleansing product! Toner is different. It is a skincare. The Kiwamizu Lotion especially soothes my skin so much better and sometimes I do not even feel like rinsing off the residue after that. But I still do. I just don’t need to rush to the sink or waste more water 😀

How To Remove Cream Mask Effectively 4

Now tell me, which type of mask if you favourite? Sheet mask or cream mask? And if you are too into cream mask, how do you remove them? Any trick besides the normal rinsing?

Hope you enjoyed this little tip on removing cream mask the easiest and most effective way 😀
