If you are crazy about Daiso, there are a high chances you had already stumbled upon similar store like Miniso and Yubiso. I first came across Yubiso but was not impressed with what they had. Having said that, I absolutely love the selfie stick I bought from them a few months ago lol. Miniso on another hand caught my attention mainly due to the fact that they carry the “dupe” version of Real Techniques makeup brushes at an affordable price.

A few months ago, I casually stroll into Yubiso and saw an array of acrylic makeup organizers. It is more like thick plastic actually but let’s just say they are acrylic. I spent a good 15 minutes checking out the organizers with my eyes wide open. I think you already know that I have a soft spot for makeup organizers. I went home empty handed although I saw a few that I light because I was thinking to go back to Muji to pick up a few more of their 3-tier drawer unit. Between thick plastic RM25 with REAL acrylic RM37, I would pick the latter anytime! Especially when it is a Muji. Now that the sale at Muji ended some time ago, I head back to Yubiso. Sadly, one of the bigger drawer unit were sold out 🙁

Yubiso 2
Yubiso is a fashion designer company in Japan, with products made from Korea, Japan, China and even Malaysia. The store front said everything RM5 at first but let’s just face it. Not everything in Daiso is RM5 (RM5.30 now), whatmore Yubiso. Most of their stuff are at least RM10 and above. The acrylic makeup organizers on the other hand was not there when Yubiso first opened end of 2015. At least that is what I remembered lol. I only saw them a few months ago. The price ranges from RM15 to RM25. Pretty affordable.

Yubiso 3
What I like about their organizers are that some you many not find elsewhere like the square box with lid, a box with mirror, cotton round holder (which I nearly buy from Taobao) or even the cotton bud duo holder (which I also nearly buy from Taobao).

Yubiso 4

Yubiso 5

Yubiso 6
Top: Cotton balls holder | Bottom: Lipstick holder

Does the 3-drawer mini unit looked familiar? Yes it does. I have four of those on my table now. But they are from Mr DIY, which I bought for RM15.90 each (now RM17.90). Yubiso is selling them at RM25 each. It is the same thing actually 😀 . So if you can’t find it at Mr DIY, go Yubiso. It is a few ringgit higher but at least they are well stocked up.

Yubiso 7
This square box thingy is what I was talking about earlier. I am thinkin to get this one. At least they have a slot for cotton pad 😀

Yubiso 8
RM25 each. A well-made unit.

This box unit below comes with a mirror top. It is a box unit with compartment. The mirror top acts as a lid or as mirror when you flip open the lid. This one is not available at Sunway Pyramid store. I had to drive to IOI City Mall to take this photo.

Yubiso 9
This desktop organizer photo below also taken from IOI City Mall. Mr DIY carries them too – at RM17.90 if I am not mistaken. I bought a similar but larger unit before and it is so cheap!

Yubiso 10
Another desktop organizer but smaller. I personally would not get this as it is too small for me.

Yubiso 11
I like the cotton round holder very much. I saw them before at Home Living but now that the organizer section was cleared out, I am so happy to see them at Yubiso.

Yubiso 12
This one here is a lipstick holder. In the middle I believe you can stuck some makeup brushes in it. I have one from Mr DIY which I bought to keep just in case the price went up one day LOL. It did. I bought them at RM5.90 back then. It is now RM6.90. I believe Yubiso version is RM15? I cannot remember.

Yubiso 13

Yubiso 14
Last but not very least, this 2-tier drawer unit for RM25. It was sold out for quite some time but it was back in stock in July 2017 (yes, this is an updated paragraph) and I bought one to store some lipsticks.

When Muji came around, everyone went crazy over their acrylic especially the drawer box. Beauty enthusiasts all over the world raved about it and I’m sure you can find millions of review, blog, video and organization tips photos of it on the net. Me on the other hand was feeling meh over their acrylic box. I’m not liking the fact that it is clear and you can see everything from the outside. Plus I’m not keen with all the finger prints or makeup residue prints on these clear box.

As you know, I’m kinda into glassware at the moment (yes still) so naturally I’m attracted to clear makeup organizer. One day, one of my long time reader Tiffany Tai PM-ed me on Facebook saying ‘found something, I think you will like it’ together with Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit photo, I thought she was just telling me that Muji has makeup organizer. But when she told me there is a 30% sale for both of it, I wanted to dash to Muji right away.

Muji Acrylic Drawer Box
I couldn’t remember how big or wide the Muji Acrylic Drawer Box is so I didn’t set any target to purchase it immediately. When I saw the size, I was relieved that it is quite huge but the drawer height is not as deep as I think it would be. Just 2.5cm. I took my time browsing, comparing and gave it a deep thought if I could ever fit my eyeshadow palettes in it. That’s what I needed it for.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box retails for RM86.90, which rounds up to RM60.80 after 30% discount and the Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit retails for RM52.90, which rounds up to RM37 after 30% discount. I did however did a quick calculation at home to figure out if I should get the 5-tier or two of the 3-tier unit. It turns out that each tier is around RM12-ish for both type so I decided to buy the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box
Since many people commented that “I always go Sephora” whenever I share great deals I spotted at the store on Instagram, I have decided not to share so much great deals anymore. So you will see lesser from me from now on. But you know me. I just couldn’t keep anything good to myself especially this 30% OFF deal. Thus the reason why you’re reading this now.

Back to the Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box. There’s a few things I don’t like about it. First is the hole where you slid in a finger to pull the drawer out. I would prefer a proper dainty handle because dust somehow will sneak into the drawer unit through the hole. And I know I will get foundation prints all over the side. So, that’s what it is. What I DO LIKE about the Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box unit is that the quality is absolutely top notch. All the drawer slides out as smooth as butter. The outer wall is made from thicker acrylic while the drawer…not really.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Hole
I posted up on Instagram a few days ago on the sale and a quick review on what I think about it. I don’t know why accepting the fact that these Muji drawer unit are not for everyone seems to be hard on Muji fans. Bear in mind, I bought this unit to store my eyeshadow palettes so what I said or going to say will evolve around the purpose of my purchase. Not lipstick, not pencils, not brushes, not stationeries, not eyeshadow singles.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Space
For eyeshadow palettes, this will not be the best choice if you have lots of it and if they are all in odd sizes like mine. I was frustrated that I couldn’t fit all my eyeshadow palettes neatly without any gap. So I started to fit random products into the gap. The initial idea to fit nothing but eyeshadow palettes is now down the drain lol. It is also impossible to stack two thin palette because you will risk scratching the bottom of the upper drawer. Been there, done that.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Eyeshadow Palette

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Random Palettes
I totally get it when some people disagree with me that this doesn’t fit a lot of products. I do get it. I really do. As I said earlier, I bought it for a sole purpose and that is for eyeshadow palettes. I already knew that every other nitty-gritty things will fit a lot and neatly into the Muji acrylic drawer unit. I do know that. To prove that I really do know, I purposely fit some of my lip product in one of the drawer for picture sake. Yes these fits SO MUCH MORE and perfectly. I do get it seriously and I totally respect storage purpose of each individual. Just not my eyeshadow palettes. It’s just me.

Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box Perfect for Lip Products
I don’t know what has gotten into me. It must be that I didn’t shop much recently and my hands are itching to shop so my mind went back to the Muji acrylic sale. This time I had my eyes on the Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit because it’s only RM37 after discount and that I’m building my lipstick collection so I foresee I will need the 3-tier unit. I went back a few days ago and bought it.

Muji Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit
At the moment I have nothing to store yet so I moved both Urban Decay Vice 2 and Vice 3 from the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box to the lowest drawer. I’m still figuring out the best way to organize both drawer box units and I’ve yet to line each drawer so that they are scratch free 🙂 Until then, this is what my current Muji Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit has.

Muji Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit Big Palettes
Muji is currently having a 30% OFF markdown for Acrylic 5 Drawer Box & Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit only. I have check with the sales person at Muji Mid Valley and they said the markdown is until they run out of stock. According to them, the markdown is to make way for new designs. Also take note that not all Muji store are aware of the sale. Odd, I know. Tiffany bought her Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit from Sunway Pyramid store and I bought mine from Mid Valley store. Her friend later on went to the same Sunway Pyramid store to get the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box and she was told that the discount only valid for Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit. ShopGirl went to Pavilion store and they told her there are no discount on acrylic products. She then went to Avenue K store and the sales person made a call to Mid Valley branch to confirm on the sale. It makes me wonder what happened to the communication between the head office to the stores. Why are all the stores not communicated properly with regards to the in-store promotion that is suppose to run simultaneously. Although I had a good experience with Mid Valley store, nonetheless I was shocked that this happened to Muji. ShopGirl and I both was saying that this is like Sephora all over again. Some store say this, some store say that, some say cannot use 10% discount, some say can.

I left the unit unattended for a day and when I took it out from the paper bag 2 days later, I saw a huge discolouration patch on the top of the box and that patch is staring at me from the corner where I was sitting. I called up Muji enquiring about exchanging as the receipt stated no exchange is permitted for sale item. I was allowed for an exchange and the process was done without any issue. Ai yai yai…

So if you’ve always wanted a Muji acrylic unit but think it’s too expensive like I do, this is the right time to get one. The markdown doesn’t have a due date but it’s while stock lasts. I went to Muji a few days ago and all the Acrylic 5 Drawer Box is more or less sold out.

Muji stores is located at Pavilion, Mid Valley, Avenue K and Sunway Pyramid.

Price:
+ Acrylic 5 Drawer Box – RM86.90, RM60.80 after 30% OFF.
+ Acrylic 3 Drawer Unit – RM52.90, RM37 after 30% OFF.

I was in the dilemma if I should talk about this now or I should put it in my September Favourites. As you already know my monthly favourites will not have any item that I’ve mentioned before in the blog. After a whirlwind search on the perfect tray for my perfume collection, I thought this tray deserve it’s own standalone shoutout 😀 .

The idea came when Paris B of MyWomenStuff posted a question on her Instagram asking if we store perfumes in boxes or display the pretty bottles. I’ve always been the one who keep all perfume in it’s original box because I wouldn’t want to display it out and clean the dust off all the time. I keep all the perfume behind my vanity table’s sliding mirror compartment and I will only take one bottle out to use on a weekly basis. This organisation has been working out fine for me. Well, that was before I reshuffled all the furniture in my room and now my bed frame is blocking the sliding mirror making it a challenge for me to take my perfume out.

Fragrance Tray 1
Initially what I pictured in my mind would be a cake platter/stand/tray or whatever you call it. In my mind I’ve always wanted a white flat top cake stand within the RM30 budget. If searching for the white one is near impossible, I can do floral on white surface and if that too is impossible to find, I can make peace with clear stand. You are seeing this means I wasn’t able to find any of those and then I had my heart on this metal mirrored vanity tray while on the hunt for what I initially wanted.

I drove all the way to SSF Bandar Sri Damansara (because SSF Facebook admin said that’s the largest showroom) a few days ago to look for a particular white flat top ceramic cake stand that I found on Google but sadly that unit was discontinued. There was a few more other cake stand that I like however I wouldn’t want to splurge on RM100 tray for my perfume to sit on. While I was browsing, I saw this exquisite all-metal tray with a tiny legs (is it called legs?) on the bottom. The best part is, it came with a mirrored surface. This particular tray is exactly what I’ve been seeing on Google lately whenever I search for perfume storage ideas. It turns out that every other girls at oversea store their array of fragrances in such tray. I never expect to find such tray here in Malaysia, although I think this tray is sold here mainly as “hantaran” tray used in Malay weddings. The price for this tray is way cheaper (RM45.90, member price RM39.90) comparing to every other tray I’ve seen in SSF. I joined their membership program and paid only RM32.13 after 30% birthday month discount 😀 . After spending two hours roaming around looking for the right tray, I finally settle with this tray instead. I couldn’t stop thinking about the mirrored surface. The funny thing is, every other tray has a name for it. This one is named “Tray” only lol. I guess the store have no idea what it is.

I have about 25 perfumes at the moment if I’m not mistaken. This tray is huge! I need to move every brush holder and glass container aside to accommodate this tray. I managed to squeeze it in with a bit of the side sticking out of the table edge and making sure that the tiny legs at the bottom is far from falling off. As huge as the tray can be, I didn’t manage to put in all of my perfume bottles. I have to leave five bottles out of the tray. But I’m happy with the way it is now.

Fragrance Tray 2
Fragrance to me is something exquisite and the tray holding it must be equally exquisite as well. I couldn’t just get any tray for it. That explains why it took me some time to find the right one. I’m attracted to this metal mirrored tray mainly for it’s detailing on the side and the mirror surface on the bottom. Don’t it makes everything look more elegant? 🙂

Fragrance Tray 3
How do you store your fragrances? Do you leave it out on the table or drawer or do you keep all of it in their boxes? There is no right way or wrong way when it comes to displaying your beauty products. If i can choose, I would still prefer to keep everything in it’s box so that I have lesser things to clean lol 😀

I get to know about this DIY Cosmetic Box from my friend’s Facebook. His wife posted a photo of him installing the cosmetic box for her and the moment I saw it, I WANT IT. I don’t need it but I thought it’s cute. Isn’t it a cutie?

DIY Cosmetic Box 1
There are three colors to choose from – Pink, Red and Multicolor. I ordered the color Pink but it turns out like the Red from the seller’s Facebook page. Seller told me that this is the pink and the red would be red hot chilli pepper type of red. Anyhow the color is quite nice so no complain here.

Upon taking a glance at the installation guide, I nearly fainted. It does look complicated and it’s in Chinese. I don’t mind the Chinese wording but the diagram freaks me out. I took a deep breath and start laying out all the pieces to check if there is any shortage. I do the same with Ikea furniture as well. I wouldn’t want to install half way only to find out something is missing. When everything is intact, I start to install one section by one section, just like how the instruction guide told me to.

DIY Cosmetic Box 2
This vanity table beauty organizer doesn’t really comes with a name. It came in a plain brown box. Seller named it as DIY Cosmetic Box 🙂 . What I like about this unit is that it is quite huge and it comes with different sizes and depth section within the box which I find useful. Not only that. It comes with two drawer unit. Top one is shorter due to the brush holder compartment at the back of the box, while the bottom drawer is longer up till the back of the organizer. I also like this organizer for it’s unique shape on the edges. The drawer pull-out is kinda cute and not forgetting the die-cut babies on the background of the main board.

DIY Cosmetic Box 3
Installation maybe a little bit confusing at first but nonetheless it is easy to install once you get the hang of it. It is a plug and play type of organizer, something like my rotating makeup organizer. The only difference is that the whole unit is secured with white rubber bands. That’s right. Rubber bands. The downside is rubber bands tend to melt over time. What I don’t fancy is that the rubber band part is protruding out instead of in. Its understandable though. I treat it as a part of the design 😀

DIY Cosmetic Box 5
My unit does comes with a few chips here and there. I was a bit disappointed at first but again, its understandable. Scratches, chips or dents is unavoidable. Nothing is perfect, even if you pay 400 bucks for a Ikea drawer unit. There will be minor scratches.

DIY Cosmetic Box 6

DIY Cosmetic Box 7

DIY Cosmetic Box 8
Just an example on what you can store in the DIY Cosmetic Box. Oh noooo. It looks like my rotating can tamer that holds all my daily skincare products has a competitor now lol!

DIY Cosmetic Box 4
For RM45 including Poslaju shipping to West Malaysia is a good deal to me. I took a peep at the consignment note and wow! Shipping fee cost RM10. I love my new vanity table beauty organizer. Now, I need to find a space for it 😀

You can buy DIY Cosmetic Box at Hakuna Matata Facebook page.

Price: RM45 including Poslaju to West Malaysia. RM49 to East Malaysia.

Note: Although there is a few seller on Facebook selling the same item with different price, however those are not inclusive of PosLaju and I saw one with bad comments i.e. delayed shipping, faulty items and many more. Hakuna Matata price is reasonable. She replied to all my sms queries promptly and in well-manner. Service is excellent with super fast shipping.
