After GLAMGLOW released four Mud-to-Foam Cleansers back in April, I have been thinking to myself what’s next for GLAMGLOW. What else could the Hollywood’s backstage secret brand come out with? It did not occur to me that what’s missing within its range is a brightening treatment product. And that is exactly what GLAMGLOW launched earlier this month. GLAMGLOW FLASHMUD™ would be a joy to those who like brightening product, like me

I am a sucker for packaging. Usually it’s pretty cute packaging that always suck me into buying but in GLAMGLOW’s case, if I were to spend RM255 on ONE product, I would expect a darn good packaging. Some said the box is unnecessary. I guess it depends on each individual. I am not a bit bothered by the outer box. I only wish the box is metal or something so I can reuse for beauty storage. Oh and all GLAMGLOW products packaging are designed personally by it’s co-founder Glenn Dellimore

Now, FLASHMUD is a multi-targeted, multi-sensory brightening treatment product for a quick result fix. It promises brightening, radiance, luminosity, evening skin tone and color correcting. Okay, this is a little bit confusing to some people. Let me explain to you a bit. Luminous skin will project a radiance looking skin therefore the skin will looked brighten. So it’s actually the same in my opinion. Let’s just keep it simple and refer to brightening, aight?

The jar is the same 50g jar as YOUTHMUD and SUPERMUD, except for the color of course. It comes in a bright orange color jar to coincide with the orangey or citrusy scent found in the product. Each jar is sealed with a foil. Usually I would just peel the foil a bit to scoop the product out. I don’t toss the foil away. I never do with any other product at all. What you can do is to take a plastic separator from other skincare jar and place it in replacement with the foil. Voilà!

FLASHMUD is more runnier comparing to YOUTHMUD and SUPERMUD if I remember correctly. It has a beige colour to it and lots of Teaoxi White Birch Leaf visibly floating all inside the mud mask. It is made with WhiteEnergy, Flashlucent, Reflectrum and Teaoxi White Birch Leaf.

• WhiteEnergy – To help with uneven color and to create brighter, lighter, intense, and even skin tone.
• Flashlucent – For luminous and younger looking skin.
• Reflectrum – For lighter, brighter looking skin.
• Teaoxi White Birch Leaf – To improve color balanced skin tone.

As you know, I’m a fan of the green tea scent from any GLAMGLOW products. This FLASHMUD however has a strong and interesting orange scent to it. Smells quite nice and unique. My first time using product smelling like an orange

For first timer, it is recommended to use 3 days in a row, follow-up with 2-3 times per week as maintenance routine. If it’s too much for you to use 2-3 times per week, just cut it down accordingly. There is no right or wrong with skincare anyway. I do not guarantee if the result is the same ya

As FLASHMUD contain tiny exfoliating beads, apply onto clean, dry face in circular motion to pre-exfoliate for improved ingredient absorption. Then, leave the mud mask on for a minimun 20 minutes where the mask will turn semi-transparent. Lastly, rinse off with water. Remember to use a high SPF sunscreen daily. It’s not an option, it’s a must since this is a brightening treatment.

As soon as I had the mud mask on, it gives my skin a slight tingling, warm sensation. It does not sting at all like what I experienced with THIRSTYMUD. I can definitely smell the strong orange scent. The word “mud” can be a turn off for those with sensitive or dry skin as mud tend to leave the impression that it is drying. So far I have tried most GLAMGLOW mud mask range and none of them are drying. Not even SUPERMUD, which is known to help problematic skin. I don’t leave it on for 20 minutes as I prefer it to be on longer say 30 minutes? Do bear in mind you should only prolong the duration according to what your skin tells you. If it gets uncomfortable, rinse right away. However rest assured this mask is not uncomfortable at all.

Here is the result from Day 1 to Day 3 usage of FLASHMUD. The most obvious result for me personally is how smooth my face is and my face is actually less oilier during the day under makeup. Probably due to the exfoliation from the mask, makeup goes on so smoothly the next day. Foundation blends in like a dream.

It is hard to capture the brightness effect as the weather has been a bit wonky and hazey. This is the best I can do. Bear in mind this is only the result from first 3 days in a row usage, minus the 2-3 times per week maintenance routine

The good news is, you can request for a sachet sample of GLAMGLOW FLASHMUD or any GLAMGLOW products from Sephora. I was told that they are more generous with giving out sample for you to try at home. Good if you do not want to splurge RM255 before trying if it suits your skin or not.

Okay. I lied. I promised to talk about my #1 favourite GLAMGLOW mud-to-foam cleanser from the lot last week but I didn’t. Being as random as I can be at times, I decided to talk about the GLAMGLOW® THIRSTYCLEANSE™ first instead.

THIRSTYCLEANSE is a revolutionary cleanser, created with only one purpose in mind – to hydrate, restore moisture, replenish and calm skin. To me, this hydrating mud-to-foam cleanser is the express on-the-go version of ThirstyMud, my least favourite mud mask from GLAMGLOW. So by default this THIRSTYCLEANSE is also my least favourite cleanser among the four.

Whether this is my favourite or not, I must say I like how the pump system dispense out the right amount of product per pump. The pump is not those shallow type of pump where you don’t get the satisfaction of pressing the pump down but instead it goes down quite deep.

The scent of THIRSTYCLEANSE is definitely same as ThirstyMud. Colour wise, it is quite similar to ThirstyMud. I notice that the cleanser contain tiny brown dots which I also find from ThirstyMud. The texture somehow is not as liquidy as SUPERCLEANSE, which is odd because I would expect this hydrating cleanser made with coconut as one of it’s ingredient to be more liquidy. But it’s not.

THIRSTYCLEANSE are powered by the following amazing ingredients. It’s no wonder dry skin users love this so much!

• Rare Brazilian Yellow Clay – helps to remineralize skin and rinse away impurities.
• Pure Green Coconut Water – to boost and replenishes the skin for intense hydration immediately.
• Olive Milk – to replenish skin for smooth texture.
• South Pacific Plumeria Blossom Extract – to restore skin’s barrier function.
• Indian Gooseberry – to revitalize and restore skin’s natural clarity and translucency.
• TEAOXI®’s Olive Tea Powder – micronized to deliver natural linoleic acid to maintain moisture.

What I like about THIRSTYCLEANSE is that I only need one full pump each use. And the amount of a pump is enough for me to massage throughout the whole face without any tugging around. The cleanser melts a little bit as I massage into the skin, which is very soothing and relaxing. The fact that the cleanser is heavily scented with coconut scent gave a ‘tropical’ feel to it. I almost thought I’m relaxing somewhere at a beach or something . Scent wise, I would prefer the cleanser more than the mud mask. Probably because I don’t need to leave it on the face for too long thus I don’t feel nauseas.

The instruction from GLAMGLOW is to pump 2 to 3 pumps onto dry palm and massage over dry face. I personally don’t use 2 to 3 pumps as I do have oily skin on the surface therefore I find that one pump is already more than enough for me. Even with that, I have to be careful with it because it can be really hydrating that my skin could get too moisturize and become oily in no time. ThirstyMud gave me a stingy sensation on the face but THIRSTYCLEANSE don’t. There you go. Another plus point added in

THIRSTYCLEANSE as you can see from below photo, goes on transparent on the skin. It doesn’t look like I have anything on my face at all. I said earlier that this cleanser melts a little as I massage it into the skin but if you left it for even a few seconds, the cleanser could harden a bit. Usually this doesn’t happen when you are using it in the bathroom so I wouldn’t be worry about it. Just thought I could make a note on it since it happened to me when I was taking a few photos

Here comes the fun part. My favourite has got to be the moment when I add some water onto my hand, working out some foam and add a bit water onto my face and massage in circular motion to create foaming from the cleanser. Like magic, the cleanser which was dry earlier turned into this creamy, foamy consistency. It is definitely not as dry as SUPERCLEANSE and much more easier to lather as well.

I get it when people come to me and ask me which part I don’t like about this cleanser. Before I get into that, let’s talk about what I like. This cleanser are not all bad for me, don’t get me wrong. I surely enjoyed the soft, bouncy, smooth skin after using. The skin feel like baby skin and it’s great to feel that way especially when this comes from just a cleanser. For dry or very dry skin user, this cleanser would be perfect. It has everything your skin needs and provide all the hydrating and moisture replenishing that the skin needs as well. As my skin is dehydrated on the inside oily on the outside, I have to be extra careful with any type of hydrating product I put on my face. Anything that is too hydrating could give me an oil slick face or even breakout. As for the part where I don’t like about the cleanser is also because it’s too hydrating for me. My face become oily within 30 minutes after using the cleanser. It’s not necessary a bad thing though. I just happen to hate having an oily face

Now, I thought I’ll show you the difference between THIRSTYCLEANSE and THIRSTYMUD. Although THIRSTYCLEANSE is inspired from the mud mask, it smells the same, do the same but look and work differently. Colour and texture wise are also different. I would say THIRSTYCLEANSE is the best complement to the mud mask in every way. You can also choose to mix and match your cleanser with different mask to target different skin needs

Last year, I had the honour to attend the launch of GLAMGLOW and this year, I was once again given the honour to attend the GLAMGLOW GLAMTASTIC Party in celebration of GLAMGLOW’s 1st Anniversary in Malaysia and also for the launch of the World’s First Mud-to-Foam Cleansers, which was held end of April last month. I could not believe that GLAMGLOW has been in Malaysia for a year now. How time flies and it has been fantastic!

GLAMGLOW launched the World’s First Mud-to-Foam Cleanser range, which consists of four cleansers namely YOUTHCLEANSE, SUPERCLEANSE, THIRSTYCLEANSE and POWERCLEANSE just this January 2015 and two out of the four cleansers hit our local Sephora stores in April 2015. The two cleansers that are now available are SUPERCLEANSE and THIRSTYCLEANSE. I like all four of them but there are two that stands out to me the most. I finally bought SUPERCLEANSE at the recent Sephora Private Sale. The additional 20% discount makes it even more affordable

SUPERCLEANSE is a mud-to-foam cleanser for problem skin, just like the mud mask version – SUPERMUD. If you know how SUPERMUD works, this cleanser is supposed to be the cleanser version of it. Same in everything except that this is the cleanser version. It contain the same mud from SUPERMUD, which transforms into a gentle foaming lather when in contact with water to dissolve oil and makeup, getting rid of pore-clogging debris, impurities, excess oil, absorb excess sebum oils and create a mattifying layer on top of the skin for clearer complexion.

This baby is HUGE. I found out the ml content of the cleanser before the price. It comes in 150g bottle (except for POWERCLEANSER, which is 75g) for the price of RM149. That’s more or less about the same price I paid for counter brand cleanser. The overall packaging from the outer box to the bottle is absolutely top notch. Some say their excessive box material for all their mud mask is unnecessary but I’ve been a fan of their packaging. This time round, GLAMGLOW kept the packaging simple for their mud-to-foam cleansers. Probably because the bottle is tall so the outer box is made just as a cover up for the bottle. A ridiculously thick cardboard replica of the bottle cover up . Unnecessary? Maybe. Maybe not. The pump mechanic on the other hand doesn’t create any issue for me. It work just like how it was suppose to be and dispenses out sufficient amount per use.

The direction from GLAMGLOW is to pump 2 to 3 pumps of product per use. That’s too much. But it’s also a little bit confusing with the amount to use. Here’s why. I find that one full pump (as below photo) dispenses out A LOT of product. The thing about this cleanser is that you need to apply with dry fingers onto dry face, massage all over the face, wet the fingers and massage with circular motions to create foaming lather. One full pump amount makes it a bit tough to massage and smooth all over the face. However, when in contact with water, it creates a whole lots of foam and suddenly it’s more than enough product to massage all over the face.

This is how much two full pumps of product the bottle dispenses out. For the purpose of this review, I’ve decided to use two pumps just so you can see how the coverage of the product looks like on my face. Now, that’s a lot of cleanser even for a huge face like mine.

All GLAMGLOW Mud-to-Foam Cleansers are to be used with dry fingers and on dry face. I only required one full pump for the whole face. Yes it may be a little bit tough to spread and massage all over the face at the beginning but I’m used to it and I don’t find it to be an issue anymore. I love the scent of it. It is the exact same scent as SUPERMUD. It contain the following ingredients with a purpose of their own.

• K17 and Mediterranean Clays – to detoxify, refine skin texture as well as to balance skin.
• Bamboo Charcoal™ – to provide balanced detoxification and replenishment to the skin.
• Licorice Root Extract – to improve skin tone and calm irritated skin.
• Black Cumin Seed Extract – as an antimicrobial and antioxidant for the skin.
• TEAOXI® Eucalyptus Leaf Powder – delivering natural eucalyptus, natural linalook oil and powerful flavonoids to the skin through GLAMGLOW patented technology.

Next is to wet the fingers and massage in circular motion all over the face to turn the mud into foaming lather. As you can see, two full pumps are way too much. It lathers more than the photo below but because I did the demo in my room with limited access to flowing water, and the fact that I left it too long on the face to take a few shots so it kinda dries up a bit LOL. It doesn’t help when the courier guy called up and arrived at my front door at the same time. So yeah. I was in a mess when all this happened. Trust me, the foaming lather is way better on normal days, that is if the courier guy doesn’t knock on the door haha!

I would suggest using the cleanser in the shower. It makes adding water to the cleanser to create more foaming action to remove all the impurities from the face so much easier. As for the rinsing, I find that it works better when rinsed with warm water. Normal or cold water are OK but for me it doesn’t clean that well. Warm water melts everything away so much easier.

This cleanser suits all skin type, even if you don’t have problem skin. It helped to clean away impurities and dirt. Although you can use this SUPERCLEANSE to remove makeup AND cleanse at the same time, I wouldn’t recommend it with SUPERCLEANSE because it does comes with a hint of minty, tingling sensation to the skin. It may sting the eyes a bit.

Considering the fact that this bottle cost RM149 for a 150g bottle, I don’t find it to be very expensive as I only used a pump and I don’t use it everyday. I’m using this as treatment cleanser 2-3 times a week. So I get to stretch the usage longer and that makes it more affordable in the long run. What makes it even more worthy was that I only paid RM119.20 after Sephora Private Sale 20% discount . GLAMGLOW SUPERCLEANSE is my 2nd favourite cleanser among the four. I’ll talk about my #1 favourite from the lot next week . Just so you might be interested, YOUTHCLEANSE and POWERCLEANSE will be available in June 2015!

I finally came to the realisation that I do not have oily skin at all. In fact I have normal skin at the moment and probably dehydrated at times. For the last two months or so, I’ve been enjoying matte face while having makeup on. I would put on makeup in the morning, go out mingling the whole day and returned home in the evening with a slight shine on my T-zone. That continued until the first week of my new job and then by the second week, my face is so oily all day everyday and I’m frustrated. You see, my office is like a chiller. It is so cold that I’m wearing thick fleece jacket and my colleague wore winter jacket in the office. Now that’s really serious.

While I was desperately searching for a solution, GlamGlow sent me a jar of ThirstyMud™ Hydrating Treament, which is their first new product after YouthMud and SuperMud to try. I’ve been using this treatment for the past few weeks and I’m ready to tell you what I really think.

GlamGlow came up with the most creative box packaging ever. The brainchild behind GlamGlow creativity is none other than the brand’s Co-Founder, Glenn Dellimore. I’ve read a number of feedback saying the extravagant outer box is not necessary and that they would prefer if GlamGlow use the fund to “up” the size of the product. To be honest, I’ve no problem with the box at all. Well, a good and attractive packaging sells.

You’ll get everything you need and everything you want to know from the box. As soon as you open the top flap, you’d be greeted with the usual “Hello Sexy” greeting from GlamGlow. You’ll find a matching color product booklet as well. Then, a bright blue jar of ThirstyMud nestled securely in the middle of the box. This type of packaging is post-ready. You could just pick a jar up and send it out to your girlfriend as Christmas present there and then.

GlamGlow ThirstyMud™ is the first new product following the success of YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment and SuperMud Clearing Treatment. If I’m not mistaken, it was launched in the US in January 2014 and it took quite a few months to reach us here in Malaysia. ThirstyMud as the name suggests, is a mask treatment that delivers long, medium and short term super-hydration to the skin. It is made from a potent blend of hyaluronic, citric and linoleic acid as well as actives from real ground olive leaf. Despite looking different from the first two mud mask, ThirstyMud is still made with micronized clay. These clay traps and absorbs moisture in the skin. Thanks to the 12% active ingredients in the product, users will get instant results after using. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but all GlamGlow products are unisex and suitable for all skin types and all ages!

I really wasn’t expecting this at all. I’m a huge huge fan of YouthMud and SuperMud so I was expecting a mud-like mask for ThirstyMud. The first thing I notice upon removing the inner cap is how coconuty it smells. It contain coconut oil to deliver immediate conditioning to the skin. The texture of it is definitely more liquidy than YouthMud and SuperMud. I was a tiny bit sad that it’s not muddy. I love GlamGlow’s mud mask

This review almost didn’t make it out to the blog because it stings my face badly the first few times I used it. It still stings on the second and third time. I think the stinging stopped a week ago, which is my forth or fifth use? I couldn’t remember but it just stopped. The reason for the stinging that I could think of is probably due to my skin condition. It is certainly not in a good shape and the fact that I’m currently on all natural skin care so my skin couldn’t take ThirstyMud. It’s really odd because ThirstyMud is consider mild if I were to compare with YouthMud or SuperMud.

Let me tell you in advance that I’m not a fan of anything that smells or taste like coconut. Ah well, except for nasi lemak lol. That’s only it. Coconut scented skin care or coconut scented candle? I’ll pass. I bet you can already imagine my reaction when I first used ThirstyMud. I couldn’t help but to think oh god coconut, oh god it smells like coconut or oh god I hate coconut throughout the whole time I had the mask on. It’s a little bit drama for me but I survived it. I adapt quite good towards new things usually and I did. I used my trusty mask brush to apply the mask onto my face. The mask brush comes with scooper tool as well and it’s useful when I needed to double dip for more product.

The stinging starts as soon as I had the mask on. It’s almost as if the mask contain mint in it because it’s cooling and warming at the same time. But I suspect it’s the Ginger Root. As you can see the mask is not really heavy on the skin. Just a thin layer will do. I enhanced certain area of my face which is generally more dehydrated with slightly more product on.

ThirtyMud Hydrating Treatment helps to provide and retain skin moisture by delivering Long, Medium and Short Term Hydration:

The mask does not harden or stiffen the face at all and I still am able to participate in a normal verbal conversation and laugh like normal. Due to that, I usually leave the mask on for 20 minutes, wipe off with tissue, massage my face and rinse off with water. The stinging never stop up until rinsing and it actually gets even more “minty-er” during rinsing. My face feel extremely cool and soft after that and I can still feel a little bit of cooling sensation on my face. That lasted around 10 minutes or so. It kinda reminds me of BrightMud.

Now, do you remember the plant leafs in GlamGlow products? My favourite is still the Green Tea Leafs in YouthMud. ThirstyMud is not exceptional either. It is also infused with patented active Teaoxi® Ground Olive Leaf that works by delivering natural linoleic acid to help retain skin moisture. All the leafs are carefully ground and micronized for deep absorption into the skin. Unlike YouthMud or SuperMud, you can hardly see the leaf in ThirstyMud. That is because the leafs are ground to the finest. However you can still catch a glimpse of it from the above close-up jar photo.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of ThirstyMud after I’ve tried SuperMud and YouthMud before this. It was probably because I’m expecting a mud-like texture and the fact that I’m not a fan of anything coconut. Also because the mask stings my face like crazy on the first few usage. However, you know me. I don’t give up on beauty products that soon. I must say, after using 1/4 of the jar, I like it now. It changes my skin condition and brighten my face more than before. I don’t use this very often. Sometimes once a week or twice if I remember it. On the week where I used it twice, I had the best skin even under makeup. I notice that my makeup stays on better, less oilier and my face glows a bit too. I now know that I do see better result if I use more often. I’m most happy about the fact that the mask doesn’t sting my face anymore. Probably my face is less dehydrated and it started to get used to the product? When my skin is happy, I’m happy too . Now I gotta do something about those panda eyes
