iHerb Haul Black Friday 1
Last week was the EcoTools 20% OFF weekly promotion deal on iHerb and I have to get something. Picking what I want to buy and checking out this time around is so much faster and easier. No idea why. Probably because I have not been hauling anything from iHerb for the past few months. One thing for sure is that I am itching to get something from iHerb for quite some time. I also notice that their weekly promotion for beauty brands has slowed down for quite a bit. So when I stumbled upon one, it is shopping time.

I have been eyeing on 20% OFF promotion for ELF Cosmetics, EcoTools and Real Techniques for so many months. Although it is just EcoTools, I did include some ELF stuff into my shopping cart as it is really not that expensive to wait. Why wait? JUST GET IT lol! I have been getting so many questions on what type of shipping I would go for. I talked about this so many times. I am someone who cannot wait weeks for any parcel to arrive so I would pay for DHL Express. Shipping method is a personal preference. I cannot stress this enough. It is entirely up to you. If you can wait, take the cheaper one. If you cannot wait like me, take the DHL Express. Simple.

DHL Express rate now is RM53.33. The rate will drop to RM35.55 if your total purchase is RM177.76 and above. Do not ask me why the odd numbers. Ask iHerb! They set it, not me. So naturally I have to fill my cart to more than RM178 in order to pay for a lower shipping AND faster as well. As usual, here is the parcel status. Comparing to the first time I placed my order from iherb where my parcel went half the globe (sorta) before arriving Malaysia, this time around it only went to Singapore.

Total of my purchase was RM200.68. But because some of the items are bulky, I paid RM38.83 for shipping. Not too bad. It is still below RM40. The main purchase was EcoTools. I saw that they have makeup brush shampoo and I desperately needed some as Daiso everywhere in Malaysia ran out of stock for their sponge cleanser. And my Real Techniques one are finishing soon. That one is a crap so let’s pray these EcoTools Makeup Brush Shampoo (RM35.02) are better. I bought two because there are additional 5% if you purchase two and above. Why not 🙂

I also got the EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Cloth (RM30.63) as I never seen anything like that before and I was intrigued. I thought this would be good for spot cleaning. I have used it once. So far so good. Not too wet and so convenient.

Then, I included EcoTools Flat Eyeliner Brush (RM17.49) into my cart as I wanted another flat eyeliner brush to apply eyeshadow onto my bottom lashes. I go through phases with brushes and the current phase is using flat eyeliner for bottom lashes 😀 . I was thinking to get the one from H&M and it is much more expensive that EcoTools 😉

iHerb Haul Black Friday 2
Initially I wanted to wait for ELF Cosmetics weekly promotion but since I needed to fill my cart to more than RM178, I bought a few ELF products that I have been hearing nothing but good reviews. ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Clothes (RM13.15) was raved by beauty Youtuber such as Jkissa and more. And they are quite cheap comparing to those I can get from local drugstore. Again, if you buy more than two you would get extra 5% OFF. So I bought two. No surprise here 😀

I cannot recall which Youtuber talk about the ELF Contour Brush (RM13.15) and I have one from many many years ago when the brush handle are in white color back then. I love that brush so much and I have always been wanting to get more. I have too many brushes at home so I only bought one. I thought I could get more of it next time with the 20% OFF promotion. One is enough at the moment 🙂

iHerb Haul Black Friday 3
I am so happy when iHerb carries a little bit of Yes To range. I hope they carry more. Yes To facial wipes are the most raved wipes I have ever read. I do not really remove my makeup with wipes and this is only for the lazy days or for light makeup days so I bought just one to try. The one I wanted the most is Blueberries range but they do not have it. So I bought Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes (RM28.97). For someone who do not use wipes to remove makeup, I sure do haul quite a lot of wipes in this haul LOL.

iHerb Haul Black Friday 4
Now onto snacks. Once in a blue moon I like to include some snacks into my beauty haul. iHerb is also known for their snacks. I mean it. Even Shaaanxo bought this Garden of Eatin Blue Chips (RM23.53/453g) from iHerb. If Shaaanxo said it is good, it must be good. I needed to fill my cart to a certain amount and so I bought this blue chips. There are two sizes for this chips – 229g and 453g. Of course I took the big pack. What if it is REALLY GOOD and I needed more? Heck I am not paying so much shipping for chips! So big pack it is lol! I do not usually spend on junk food. This is my first time.

iHerb Haul Black Friday 5
This one is impulsive purchase. So cute, I cannot. I have heard so much about the cheddar cheese version. I bought the Annie’s Homegrown Bunny Grahams Friends Honey, Chocolate and Chocolate Chips (RM18.32) instead as chocolate is my favourite flavour. Plus inside it comes with three flavours. Who says adult cannot have this? It is really just a bite size snacks 😉 . It is organic as well.

A different tips post today. In today’s tips sharing I wanted to share with you a secret of mine when it comes to applying eyeshadow. Before I start…DISCLAIMER time. Please take note this is just an old method that I’ve been using for my own self which I think is useful to be share out. It may or may not be your liking so don’t judge me 😛

Back to topic. Have you ever wonder how to do that perfect extended eyeshadow? Now you don’t have to wonder anymore. Below is a step by step pictorial and guide on how I normally do my two tone extended eyeshadow. It’s a lil trick that I picked up some time ago and has been practicing it since then. This mistake proof secret is the reason that I’m willing to do my eyeshadow every morning 🙂

It’s also a good time to review this Estée Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow palette GWP that was given to me during one of my purchases a few months ago. I’m going to use only 3 colors from the palette as numbered below.

First thing first, apply your usual eyeshadow primer all over your eyelid. In my case I’m using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion #Original (UDPP). I normally apply slightly more on the crease cause even with UDPP, eyeshadow still smudge on me.

I used Ecotools Eyeshadow Brush and pick up #67 Lilac Whimsy (no. 1) from the palette and apply all over inner corner of my eyelid right until the 3/4 of the lid.

Take a tissue and fold it to a size you feel comfortable with. I’m using pop-up tissue which is slightly smaller than normal tissue.
Place the tissue inline with the tips of your nose, eye corner and eyebrow just like the picture below.

Take an angled eyeshadow brush and pick up #27 Purple Passion (no. 2) and fill the remaining 1/4 of the outer corner of the eyelid. Blend in near to the center with the color that you applied earlier on the inner corner. Use the tissue as a guide and you can of course apply “over” the tissue. That’s the purpose of placing a tissue there right?

Here’s how it looked like after applying the darker eyeshadow on the outer corner. Very unnatural but fret not.

Yes. The most important step is to BLEND. My Ecotools Blending Brush had gone kuku so I’m using highlighter brush to blend. The bristle is more similar to crease / blending brush. Make sure you use your proper blending brush ya.
Use the brush to pick up some loose powder. Not too much. Just a little will do and start blending those harsh line. Blend, blend , blend!

After blending, it is more natural right?
At this point of time I’d reapply the inner corner eyeshadow. Then I’d apply #30 Sugar Cuber (no. 3) under the brow as highlighter.

After this just continue with your usual eyeliner and mascara and you’re done!

What do you think about my lil secret? Is it useful for you as much as it is for me? If you are a professional you don’t need this. If you’re a newbie like me this method really save time.

A month ago I picked up EcoTools® 6 Piece Eye Brush Set from Shins Mid Valley. Coincidently they’re having a 20% discount on EcoTools®! Lucky me. Perfect timing as I wanted to change all my brushes to a new and better one. This brush set is retailing for RM70 and I only paid RM56 after 20% off.

The brush set comes with a hemp and cotton case with mirror. This is actually the 6th item by what EcoTools® meant with “6 piece eye brush set”. 1st to 5th item is the brust itself.

The brush itself is not too long or too short. Some people called it mini brush set but actually this is not as mini as it is. I always have problem with long brush. I tend to hit my stand mirror everytime I do my eye makeup haha! With this… it’s perfect for me. P/S: I tried to do my makeup as close as I can to the mirror so that I can prevent having wrinkle lines on my forehead lol!

At close state, the pouch is small and handy. Easy to put it in your handbag for on the go touch up.

Each of the brushes is imprinted with a name bearing the usage of it. I use the brushes exactly as the name suggest. It’s a no-brainer for me as I need not figure out what is that brush for!

Blend Brush. The biggest brush of all 5. I use this to blend the crease harsh line after I’m done with applying. Love this brush the most!

Crease Brush. Second largest brush of the set. I use this to apply darker eyeshadow to the outer corner and crease of my eyes. As the brush is thick and huge, I only get the hang of using it after a few times. Liking this everyday.

Highlight Brush. I like the fact that it’s fluffy but pointy at the top. Not to mention super soft too. After I’m done with inner and outer corner as well as blending out the harsh line, I’d use this brush to apply a medium tone color to the top of my crease line. Then using the same brush, I’d pick some highlight color (lighter shade of eye shadow) and applied it close under my brows.

Shade Brush. The second smallest brush in the set. At first I kept thinking what to do with this as I can’t figure out what “Shade” means for a brush. Then I knew it. I used this to apply eye shadow to the inner corner of my eyes. Although a bit small for that, I need more time to kept on going until the half of the lid. The brush is a bit dense. It tend to pick up more eye shadow but it’s okay as it’s small. I can easily spread the excess to the side.

Last but not least, Smudge Brush. Okay. Another not no-brainer name for a brush lol. But I have no problem with this as by the time I’m done using all 4 brushes…my makeup is done too. So what do I do with this cutie 5th brush? Ahhh I know. I’d just use this to line my lower eyelash with eye shadow! This works as perfect as it is. I always have trouble finding the right brush to line my lower eyelash with eye shadow but it seems like this brush solved that 🙂

A lot of trackback lately to my blog is on How to check if your Ecotools brush set is fake. It’s a rant post of me being conned to buy fake Ecotools and also I did a simple comparison on authentic vs fake. As you might or might not aware there’s lots of fake Ecotools brushes in the market especially through online store. So after that bad experience I only buy from Shins.

My first brush set is Ecotools by Alicia Silverstone. In my comparison of authentic vs fake post I did mention that the Ecotool logo must be something like “burnt on” and Ecotools by Alicia Silverstone is not. The handle is more smoother than normal Ecotools and the logo is printed on. But that doesn’t mean it’s fake. It just means that every series’ logo is printed differently. In this 6 Piece Eye Brush Set, you can see what I meant by the logo is “burnt on” type. As it is burnt on every color of the logo on every brush is different. Some darker and some lighter. You can easily feel the burnt on logo while printed one is the opposite.

Do check out my How to check if your Ecotools brush set is fake post to find out if your brush is authentic or fake 🙂
