Make Up - Eyes Review: Make Up Urban Decay

Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion #Original

Back in December 2011, I purchased a Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion 11ml in Original (hereinafter refer as UDPP) for RM55 from my favourite seller in eBay Malaysia. The only place to buy Urban Decay from retail is Sephora and it’s retailing at RM75 / USD20. Why didn’t I buy from Sephora you asked? Well if you knew your trusted authentic online seller is selling RM20 cheaper would you still get the retail one? In my case nope 🙂

This is it – THE most legendary primer in the beauty industry. Eyeshadow Primer Potion is coveted by makeup artists and makeup junkies alike because it guarantees more vibrant eyeshadow that lasts for 24+ hours and NEVER CREASES! Once you experience its powers (plus how smoothly it glides on – an added bonus) you’ll never want to live without it. Original formula dries down invisibly, while Eden, Sin and Greed are shades that can also be worn as shadows or highlighters!

Now this extraordinary elixir comes in an easy-to-squeeze tube so you can control how much you apply. You also get more primer in every tube – 11 ml instead of the original 10!

Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Polyethylene, Trihydroxystearin, Triethylhexanoin, Isopropyl Lanolate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Synthetic Beeswax, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben

Apply before your eyeshadow for more vibrant CREASE-FREE color that lasts for 24+ hours.
The tube that I had is the revamped version which is a easy-to-squeeze tube. I like this version more than the old tube with wand as I’ve read from various blog review that the old tube tend to waste lots of primer at the bottom. I guess the wand is not long enough to scoop everything out?

A little goes a long way. I only need a teeny weeny bit on each eye lid. At first I apply in a swiping motion but the primer dries out very fast that it create some streaks and it looks awful. Then I tried dabbing and the primer look transparent on my lid.

At first it doesn’t and I prefer Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer more. I always think that UDPP is over-rated and Etude one are far more better in what it claimed and it works far more better in terms of controlling the oil secretion on my eye lid, preventing creasing as well as prolonging eyeshadow. After spending more and more days using this primer, I started to like it bit by bit.

Below is a swatch done with and without UDPP. As you can see UDPP not only prevent creasing and prolonging your eyeshadow, it also enhance eyeshadow color which means you save time layering eyeshadow. The color of your eyeshadow will just popped up!

Without – 4 layers, With – 2 layers

1) Tend to streak if apply with swiping motion. Dabbing is alright.
2) A little goes a long way. A tube of 11ml could last quite some time.
3) Enhance eyeshadow color saving time on layering eyeshadow.
4) Pricey. Retailing at RM75 at Sephora.

Maybe?

  • Hi Nina,

Thanks for dropping by :). I’m honored to be complimented by a makeup artist!

I normally would do research before buying oversea brands by searching on local review instead of overseas. You are right, the whole humidity is a factor. What might work with oversea users might not work on us.

Here’s the eBay seller whom I purchased a few items from http://www.ebay.com.my/sch/jjj*2008/m.html?hash=item33732220ec&item=220974948588&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_207&_trksid=p4340.l2562

    Thanks dear.

  • Hahaha Nina. Mine is just a small portion only. I still have loads and loads of products yet to do review. Need to find some time to do that. Yikes.

You should try Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch before makeup. It covers up pores and wrinkles perfectly.

  • Have you ever thought about that this could be a fake / counterfeit product..
I never trust these online dealers, as 80% of the stuff is fake !

    • You are wrong. If you are cheated means you have no idea what is authentic. Its either you must have used the product before to differentiate yourself or you should do research beforehand. You will know what is fake vs authentic in terms of scent, texture, color and efficacy.

Regarding your question if I ever thought if this could be fake? First timer yes. Now NO because I have been purchasing from the same trustable seller again and again.

  • Hi, I love your review on this product. Can you share a picture of you wearing the Urban Decay Eye Primer on the eye before and after 8 hours wearing from morning till night maybe, if possible. I’m tempted whether should or should not buy it because it is kind of pricy compared to other primers. But I still want to buy a good product that is long-lasting and full satisfaction. Thank you very much in advanced~

    • Hi Shakirah, thanks but this review is dated back in 2012. I no longer have the product and I’ve never repurchased as it melts my eyeshadow on my oily eyelid. This means it doesn’t make my eyeshadow last on my lid. I’m currently using Zoeva which is way much better and cheaper.
