Highlighters
Everytime a brand released a new highlighter, you went crazy and swear THIS IS your highlighter and IT IS THE ONLY highlighter you need. You hunt for it, you bought it and then, another brand also released a new highlighter, you find yourself repeating the same reaction or process. And another brand, and another. The story goes on. “I only need this highlighter in my life”. How often have you said that or heard your friend said that? Too often 🙂 . “I only need this highlighter in my life” – NOT!

As much as I still go gaga or ooohhhs and ahhhhs over new highlighter releases, I don’t find myself wanting to purchase them. It’s getting stale. I find that everybody in the whole wide world is forever never ending releasing a new highlighter. It’s getting too repetition that I got bored and stopped buying highlighters. Let’s be honest here. Highlighter never finishes! I piled them up on my face every day and I don’t see that I’ll hit pan anytime soon. Let me show you my small little highlighter in my collection, which are my favourite and why I don’t purchase anymore highlighters.

Ultimate favourite, the one I regretted not buying a few more

I have heard Zoella talking about the Estée Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush so many times that I regretted not getting it while I still can.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee Blush
2 years ago, I went to Estée Lauder Staff Sale and I saw this! There she was, sitting beautifully on the table with no one near it. Everyone probably thinking it is too shimmery to be used as a blush but I knew this is not a blush type of blush but a darn pretty highlighter. I giggled my way to the table and grabbed one without blinking. Not even a split second. I had an urge to grabbed another one but I thought I wouldn’t use this as much as that time I wasn’t into all the contouring and highlighting routine. It was my one and only highlighter and I have used it so much so that it has a small dent to it. It’s a waste that Estée Lauder no longer make them anymore as they are the most absolute gorgeous highlighter ever. I was hoping that I will see this at the next warehouse sale but nope, these never make an appearance anymore. It was made in 2013 so Estée Lauder wouldn’t sell this at 2016 staff sale. No way I am throwing this away. There is something about a pink highlighter that goes on so beautifully on the skin. I never quite get this effect from other highlighter except from this. It’s the only highlighter that shows up on photos for me.

The one that shocked me and caught on camera

I tried this Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes one day on camera and my shocking reaction was caught on point on camera.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips
Not only this Shimmer Strips has a cute lace box packaging, albeit a bit bulky but I like lace so yeah. It is said for the face and eyes. So far I used it as highlighter as that’s what I learnt from international Youtubers. Plus I have a separate eye palette within the range for my eyes so I don’t use this for the eyes. Some people has been using the warm bronzey bottom as their bronzer but I find it to be too shimmery. As a topper yes, not as the main bronzer alone. I like to use the top two rows, run my brush on them several times and voilá. The highlighter is so blinding that it lasts the entire day. If you have darker skin, just swirl everything together. Another thing I notice is how fine the shimmers are. There aren’t much powder kick back to it. Although I have been using this like crazy, I still don’t see a dent. How is that even possible! I am so totally recommending this if you need a good highlighter that is absolutely affordable.

Waitlisted, bought and disappointed, the one that is cheap but does nothing

I wanted to complain about the ELF Illuminating Palette so much but it is so cheap, like RM26.84 cheap that I shut my mouth lol.

ELF Illuminating Palette
I own a ELF Contour Palette and it was not too bad so when iHerb has the Blush Palette and Illuminating Palette, I bought immediately. However the Illuminating Palette was sold out within the next minute that I was put on waitlist. I immediately check out when it was back in stock.

It was a disappointing palette to be honest. It has no pigmentation AT ALL. The only shade that is more shimmery is the 1st shade on the top left. The rest is more of a matte shade with no pigmentation at all. I don’t reach out for this palette at all nowadays as this palette require plenty of time piling up. And the end result is not wow even though so 🙁

Does better than how it look

I decided to lump these two Essence Prismatic Rainbow Glow Highlighter and Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight together because my thoughts on them are pretty similar.

Essence Prismatic Rainbow and Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight
Essence Prismatic Rainbow Glow Highlighter is an exciting purchase this year. It is so cheap and it’s pretty interesting to see a rainbow highlighter turned into a golden highlight. It is beautiful on the skin, with super fine shimmers and almost no powder kick back. The highlight is subtle but definitely there type of highlighter. As it is a golden-ish type of highlight, I can’t see clearly in my dark room and I always end up piling them. What amazed me was that, no matter how much I used, it is not blinding or looking too overly done. It is still beautifully highlighting and yet not overly done type of highlighter.

Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight on another hand requires a little bit of getting used to at first when it is new. At the beginning I ended up with a patchy highlight strip on the top of my cheeks and that freak me out. Later on I found a way around; and that is to tap on the back of my hand to even out the liquid highlight before dabbing it on my cheek bone. It is so gorgeous! I was blown away everytime I whipped this out to use. The end result looks like as I was using an expensive highlighter but actually this cost just $5.99 each. I’m glad I bought 2!

The most outrageous expensive highlighter I use

Ahhhh Guerlain Coque D’Or Perfumed Shimmer Powder Body & Hair. I fell in love with this mainly for its packaging. Do I have any use for perfumed powder? Not at all 😀

Guerlain Coque D'Or Perfumed Shimmer Powder
These days no one goes out with shimmery hair or skin unless you are in a photo shoot or fashion show. I missed the previous one so I told myself I have to get this. And I did. Then I ended up not knowing what to do with it. It cost me nearly RM400. I told myself it’s too expensive as vanity table decoration lol. So I ended up using it on my cheek bone as highlighter! It works but the misting has to be really precise and on point. If not and you need to spread it out with your fingers, you will find all the shimmers stick to your fingers instead of the face. It’s a waste of money I tell you lol. During my earlier highlighting days, I used to use this a lot but I can never get a precise mist. It always ended up on my cheeks rather than on my cheekbone. It also has fly away shimmers that tend to get on every other part of the face. It’s outrageous, it’s expensive and I’m using it as highlighter. Oh well 😛

Now, confession time. Which one of you cannot stop buying highlighter? I think I have problem to stop purchasing contour or bronzing product but highlighter? I don’t need a lot. So far I have been doing pretty good.

Soooo. I’ve totally missed October and November 2014 favourites. I went back to working life and I didn’t expect to be home that late and the need to work on weekend as well. For the past one month, I’ve totally missed all the usual blogging schedule. I’d be lying to you if I tell you I didn’t panic. I did. I tried adjusting my life back to blogging but I really couldn’t find the time. There was so much to do and catch up on weekend. I didn’t even have the time to take photo for the blog. It is a tough time for me so please bear with me for a little while more. I want to thank each and every one of you for the never ending support and love. You girls rocks! <3

Since I missed October and November 2014 favourites, I thought it only make sense for me to post up December 2014 Favourites sooner than expected otherwise I’d miss it again. This month is all about the eyeliner pencils. It really is. Until I started to dig out my other favourites to balance out the eyeliner pencil overload LOL.

December 2014 Favourites 1

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette (Large)
I’ve been wanting a mixing palette for quite some time. The one I wanted is MAKE UP FOR EVER but I always thought it’s expensive. I knew Inglot have it too but I don’t want Inglot’s lol. I think of this day and night and even dreamt of it (see, I think too much) and so one day I emailed the lady at MUFE to ask for the price. To my surprise, she told me the small one cost RM20 while the large one cost RM25. I bought the large flat steel palette and I think I will be going back for the small one. Actually the large one is just perfect. I have a room to hold the palette, to swirl my foundation brush on a section, another section for eyebrow gel and so on. I’m just itching to get the small one as collection 🙂 . I’ve been using this everyday since I got it. I never use the back of my hand for foundation or for any makeup product anymore.

December 2014 Favourites 2
Small Glass Container
You see this coming didn’t you? 🙂 . This container is also something that I’ve wanted since the first day I step into SSF. The price tag? RM79.90! It’s crazy expensive although I think member price is RM69.90? I can’t remember. It is still expensive. I’m glad I hold on to not purchasing it because this container was on sale for RM39.90 (members only) from 10th Oct until 2nd Nov 2014. I couldn’t make up my mind if I want to purchase it and finally I drove to SSF Puchong on the last day and grab one. I’m glad I did because it is so pretty. I used this to keep all my cosmetic cotton bud because the larger container that you see on the back is too heavy to be lifted up everyday. I might risk dropping the lid and broke it hehe. The container is so shiny that my camera just couldn’t focus on it. Sigh.

December 2014 Favourites 3
Guerlain Météorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder
Despite owning four Guerlain Meteorites product at the moment, I don’t use it very often now as I’m constantly rushing out the door and this step is not so important. However when I’m feeling luxury, I’d reach out for this pressed version instead. I saved a lot of time swirling the brush into the can because this pressed powder doesn’t require much effort in getting the product onto the brush. Wulong is actually more shimmery than the rest I own so a quick dusting is all I need. I also happen to like this more. For some reason I see a better result as to compare with others.

December 2014 Favourites 4
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes, Stila Smudge Stick & Wet n’ Wild Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner
It’s all about eyeliner pencils for me this month. I don’t have the luxury to do liquid eyeliner so pencil is a quicker solution for me. I have a Stila Smudge Stick but I sort of messed up the twist mechanic and wasted the whole lead so I have to get new one. I bought a set of Stila Flawless Gems Smudge Stick Trio and a set of MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Duo Set that comes with two 25L Matte Brown. I absolutely love all of it! I never imagine myself liking eyeliner pencils this much until I bought five at one go. When Wet n’ Wild is made available in SaSa IOI City Mall, I went to take a look and bought the Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner in 655 Charcoal. I thought the shade is like the ZA Ever Brows and it turns out too dark for my brow so I’m using it mainly as eyeliner and to line my upper waterline as well as in between lashes.

December 2014 Favourites 5
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
Yeap. I finally gave in to the much talked about Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. I was waiting for Net-a-Porter to re-offer free express shipping and finally it came back on Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale. This blush palette was retailing for USD68.13 but I paid USD61.94. Probably due to the sale event. After convertion, the palette cost RM215. Ouch! The palette is quite small. Each blush pan is even more smaller than expected. However I do admit it’s way worthy to get this than the single that’s retailing for USD45. What’s funny about this palette is that I always always always over applied it. I do my makeup in a dark room at 6am in the morning so I can’t really see anything and kept on applying. What I’m amazed is, eventhough I over applied the blush, I still look good and glowy. It also gave me a cheek line. What’s not to love right?

December 2014 Favourites 6
MAKE UP FOR EVER 124 Powder Kabuki
I have had this kabuki for a few months now and it’s sitting in my drawer since then. This kabuki is specially designed to work hand-in-hand with MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Powder. I finally bought a full size MUFE HD Powder from Zalora’s 12.12 Online Fever sale so I happily took the kabuki out, gave it a good bath and used it with the powder. It’s AMAZING. So soft, doesn’t remove the foundation that was on my face and it doesn’t need a lot of product to work on. Why do I took this long to use it eh?

December 2014 Favourites 7

That’s my December 2014 favourites! Oh well it actually contain a bit of October and November as well. I do have more products that I’ve been enjoying but I plan to review them so I didn’t include them here in the favourites. November and December is also the busiest month for us beautyholics as most of the holiday collection and value set is out. What have you been loving recently? I’m trying very hard to forbid myself for buying too much. It is really hard. I managed to deter from buying a few as of now. I can’t guarantee I can stay this way for long haha 😀

Once in a while Sephora will organize beauty workshop for their members especially when any of the brand’s principal is in town. I couldn’t make it for Guerlain’s consumer event held on Saturday at Mandarin Oriental but I managed to RSVP two spots for Guerlain’s Special Christmas Event at Sephora KLCC last Sunday. Supposedly my friend were to go with me but she ended up in Pavilion and not KLCC. It’s no wonder she kept telling me she couldn’t find Sephora regardless my directions to her. It turns out we are not even talking about the same mall!

It was a quick beauty workshop with José Luis. It wasn’t a hands on event like the previous Make Up For Ever and Tarte workshop. I would prefer something that is not hands on so this one is perfect. José did five different look on five attendees and then we started exploring the collection. What I’m going to feature here is extracted from Guerlain website AND it’s all available at Sephora Malaysia stores 😀 . Yes, ALL OF IT. I don’t have the price so do go over to Sephora personally.

Guerlain L'oiseau De Feu Golden Leaf Top Coat Effect

I was eyeing on the meteorites (what else) to add into my collection eventhough I knew that the shade is too warm and shimmery for my skin tone and also the palette is just beautiful. I get paranoid if I don’t use / finishes my current palette so I’ve decided to skip the palette. I like the lipstick but not looking forward to add more red to my collection. Skipped that too. I only purchased COQUE D’OR Perfumed Shimmer Powder Body & Hair. It was an unexpected purchase. I was the first to arrive and I get to chat with Adrian (Guerlain Trainer) and he showed me how beautiful the shimmer powder is. I’ve always wanted a shimmer powder especially the one from last year collection. It was sold out by the time I get to the counter. I was half sold there and then. When José used it for his fifth look demo, I’m 100% sold. I used my Sephora 10% discount so I got the shimmer powder for slightly cheaper price.

Did any of the item from the collection intrigued you? I know a lot of people will either fall for the lipstick or meteorites. If you’re new to Guerlain, it’s always good to start with meteorites first!

I feel so bummed out that I wasn’t able to post up Little Black Box review as I wasn’t happy with the individual product photo. I suppose I’m too used to take beauty product photo that I’m clueless on fashion accessories? I am not kidding when I said that. It’s depressing lol. There’s no backup plan at all. I usually have a clear mind set and mentality well-prepared on what to blog for which particular day. For the first time I didn’t know what to blog about! Not knowing what to talk about for the day drives me cray cray 🙁

Just when I was about to shut my laptop and call it a night, I’ve decided to look through both my camera’s memory card and search if there is anything that I have taken photo but have not blog about. Then I found these! My long overdue Guerlain Meteorites Perles collection :D. Get ready for some eye candy peeps!

Guerlain Meteorites Perles
I’m a late bloomer when it comes to Guerlain Meteorites Perles. Why not, right? I mean just look at the price tag. It’s no wonder I don’t mind being a late bloomer at all. It took me quite a long time to finally get my heads around the product and the price.

My first Guerlain Meteorites Perles is actually from the permanent line. I was told Teint Rose is kinda normal and Teint Beige will give me that needed glow. So I settled with Teint Beige, right until a reader told me that the beige in Teint Beige can make yellow skin tones look more washed out and sallow so Teint Rose will suits me better. Then it hit me. She was right. The illuminating that I was getting from Teint Beige doesn’t suits me at all! I was lucky that a reader who will remain anonymous for now is looking to buy Meteorites Perles and so I sold her mine 😀

At that time when I own Teint Beige, I also bought Guerlain By Emilio Pucci Meteorites Perles just a month after my first purchase.

Guerlain By Emilio Pucci Meteorites Perles (RM189)

This is my daily staple most of the day as it’s at my reach and the rest is in the drawer :D. After continuous use daily for quite some time, I can see that the pearls is getting about a quarter smaller now. One thing that I don’t like is that all the blue pearls is softer than the rest of the pearls so it is now all crushed into powder in the can from all the swirling. This give me a teeny weeny problem because I may look too blue at times and sometimes my face look too brighten up from the blue pearls. Either way it doesn’t look too good.

Review: http://www.street-love.net/2012/09/review-taking-your-blues-away-with-guerlain-by-emilio-pucci-meteorites-perles-dazur-illuminating-powder-powder-brush.html

Guerlain Emilio Pucci Meteorites Perles

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Paradis (RM203)

I returned to Guerlain counter when Meteorites Perles Du Paradis was released. I’m a sucker for pretty packing regardless metal can or paper cardboard I tell ya. This one is unique. Guerlain ditch their iconic metal can and went back to paper cardboard, which many detest. I didn’t own any so I don’t mind having one for collection. But seriously the price is a bit expensive for a cardboard packaging. It does however comes with a cute puff and the paper jar is larger in width and taller in height. Not only that. The pearls are bigger too! But of course lesser pearl count. I have now contain all the pearls in a clear plastic in the jar because all the swirling causes the pearls to stain the inner white wall of the cardboard jar. These pearls gave me warm and pinkish complexion if I were to be heavy-handed. It’s also the one that I reached the most beside the Emilio Pucci version 😀

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Paradis

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Dragon (RM181)

I hated Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Dragon the first time I saw it because it’s just too whitish and shimmering for me. Reviews online also said that this is too shimmery. After a few months I secretly bought it through a friend for a fraction of the price. So yes, the cheaper price is the only reason why I bought it :D. I do agree that this version is a tad bit shimmery but you know what? I kinda like the effect on me. I would say this is something in between the Emilio Pucci Meteorites Perles and Meteorites Perles Du Paradis. Sounds perfect right? In fact this is also the one I use the least probably because I have this stuff on the most inner part of the drawer. This reminds me to take it out for more love :D. I really regretted for not buying two because it’s really cheap! Urrgghh!

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Dragon

Guerlain Meteorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder (RM489)

If you like the loose Meteorites Perles, most probably you will like the pressed powder version as well. Guerlain Meteorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder is also from the same collection as Meteorites Perles Du Dragon. The price is absolutely insanely expensive (not sure if there’s such word) but yeah, it’s really pricey. I too bought this from a friend for a much more cheaper price. I have thought of getting two but no reason to do so since it’s refillable. I like this mainly because of the sleek black casing. The pressed pearls on the compact is also quite similar to the loose one. I have yet to break into this so can’t really comment much on the effect other than the gorgeous packaging.

I told myself that I’m not a Guerlain Meteorites Perles Limited Edition collector if I don’t own one of this pressed powder version 😀

Guerlain Meteorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder
The only recent Limited Edition Meteorites Perles that I couldn’t bring myself to purchase is the Crazy Paris Meteorites Perles. I like the motives on the top of the lid but not crazy with what’s on the surrounding of the can. So I’m doing my wallet a favour and saving up for the 2014 new packaging for Meteorites Perles permanent line. I’ve always wanted to get Teint Rose 😀

Hope you enjoyed reading this impromptu blog post about my very small Guerlain Meteorites Perles Collection. Honestly if I were to buy more, I wouldn’t know what to do with all of them and how to finish it lol. I’m alright for now.
