Make Up - Face Rachel K Review: Make Up

Brand Introduction + Review: Rachel K Mineral CC Cream Neutral & Original

I still remember when the beauty world was hooked and couldn’t stop talking about BB Cream the short name for Blemish Balm when it was first introduced by the Korean. The BB Cream revolution is pretty much still as hot as it is a few years ago. Then recently the beauty world is once again astonished when CC Cream surfaced. Once again we had all these questions in our head on what it is, who came up with it, what is it for, why CC Cream and many more.

There’s this particular brand that got everyone talking about. When I first found out about Rachel K CC Cream I was so happy that I had the rush to locate the origin and have it ship to Malaysia. I’m glad I was busy at that time because we now have Rachel K in Malaysia! Yay!

You must be wondering…who exactly is Rachel K? Me too but after reading online I thought you might be interested too. Here is a Rachel K success story.

Rachel Kum’s passion for all things creative and natural has been a lifelong commitment. From an early age, she was entranced by make-up for simply being fun in its ability to change the face with color. Growing up, her love of nature, beauty and especially cosmetics made this a focus of her personal expression. Before winning the Miss Singapore Universe title in 2009, Rachel’s road to her good skin and makeup did not come easy. Her own experience with skin and makeup and working with women whose careers depended on good complexion has allowed her to see how skin image not only threatens careers but can also destroy self confidence.

This has led her to devote two years to researching, testing and refining mineral makeup. As every woman knows good texture, even coverage and comfortable skin interaction are the chief ingredients in identifying a good brand of makeup, Rachel believes she has found the optimal product in her Rachel K cosmetics range.

The accolades come as no surprise as it took 2 years of groundbreaking research and testing in state-of-the-art cosmetic laboratories in USA, Korea and Japan, with a team of leading cosmetologists, dermatologists and make-up artists to produce this highly refined CC cream and its line of supporting products. Testament to its efficacy is the fact that the majority of the buzz around this cream has been generated not through a multi-million dollar campaign, but by word-of-mouth.

Rachel K CC Cream is essentially a much-improved and refined BB (Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm) cream that will do everything that is expected of a BB cream and the most important and intriguing difference in a CC cream is the delivery of the cosmetic properties. While BB cream is toted primarily as a golden product of the skincare industry in Asia, CC cream has been developed to retain all the skincare benefits of a BB cream as well as more effective ingredients and skin coverage.

This is where the “color control” comes in. Unlike BB cream, CC cream rocks a heavier, more cosmetic-like coverage that actually has a lighter texture. This results in a formula that is extremely easy to blend, yet offers a smooth and even-toned base that looks like a second (flawless) skin. The Rachel K CC cream has undergone a lot of testing and revealed some very impressive results. When compared to BB cream, test subjects agreed that Rachel K’s CC cream had a less oily texture, a better whitening/brightening effect, 3 times better coverage, absolutely no breakouts, longer-lasting moisture and hold, and 5 times better stability.

While most BB Cream in the market only offer just one shade for all skin tone, Rachel K CC Cream is thoughtful that they came out with 2 shades to cater to 2 different undertone. Original shade housed in a black tube is for pink undertone while Neutral shade which is in the pink tube is for yellow undertone.

Although catering to 2 different undertone, both tube is exactly the same in terms of the 10-in-1 benefit. The only difference is the tube color and packaging material (black is matte, pink is glossy) for easy recognition.

Everything is also the same in terms of benefit, application, ingredients and precaution.

Do you know that Rachel K CC Cream is made in Korea? Now you know 🙂

Rachek K3
Rachel K CC Cream tube comes with a gold screw cap. It’s well-made, not easily dented and broken for a clumsy girl like me.

The dispensing hole is small but not a problem in squeezing the CC Cream out to the back of my hand.

To give you a more clearer view and comparison of both shade, here is the swatch. Most Asian skin tone are yellow undertone. Myself, for example is yellow undertone so pink tone BB cream would give me a gray cast after a few hours of wearing. When I choose my CC Cream shade I reached for Neutral which suits my skin perfectly.

First up. Rachel K CC Cream in Neutral.

Rachek K6
As mentioned earlier…Neutral (pink tube) suits yellow undertone skin thus the color of the CC Cream is in beige, similar to what liquid foundation had to offer. Look how close the shade is to my own skin! If I left is longer on my face before setting with loose powder, the cream “disapper” and looked blended just like my own skin color.

Rachek K7
Rachel K recommend dotting the cream onto five areas on the face; forehead, nose, two cheeks and chin. Then instead of applying like normal…Rachel K said the CC Cream is best to blend with gentle patting motion. So girls just pat away!

P/S: I dotted more than needed so that it’s clearer on picture 🙂

And the Before and After Rachel K CC Cream Neutral. Isn’t the coverage excellent? What I notice about the cream is the super fine, smooth and soft texture. It almost felt like butter to me. I never encounter any BB Cream that gave me such texture. Once applied on the face it felt light as if I don’t have anything on my face. Amazing.

One thing I notice is that the cream will look slightly white soon after application but after 2-3 minutes the cream sets and disappear giving me a matte finishing. It is not oily like BB Cream and not drying at all.

Here is the complete look using Rachel K CC Cream in Neutral.

Throughout the day I had this dewy glow on my face and amazingly my face is less oiler than usual. I only need to blot once on the T-zone but other than that it’s all good. The CC Cream doesn’t slip off an stays put throughout the whole day. By the end of the day my face is still as flawless as when it’s freshly applied.

Rachek K10
Now let’s move to Rachel K CC Cream in Original. I won’t be elaborating in depth about the texture, finishing because it’s the same as Neutral which I’ve talked about above.

Rachek K11
Recently I had severe skin allergy and my tone turned to pink when it’s healing so I started using Original. I was surprised to see Original suits me too.

Original (black tube) are meant for pink undertone skin. Sometimes I get confused between both tube as I always mistaken pink tube for pink undertone! There are Asian who have pink undertone so this is perfect for them.

Rachek K12
Original CC Cream is more whitish / grayish comparing with Neutral CC Cream. So it was no surprise that it gave me a slight gray cast at the beginning. Once it sets in it will look more blended and disappear with my own skin tone into a flawless, matte but dewy finishing. Do note that the pinkish complexion underneath the gray cast is actually from my skin allergy.

Rachek K13
Despite all the gray cast on yellow undertone skin, Rachel K CC Cream Original looked flawless on me. Just like Rachel K CC Cream Neutral, the texture is amazingly smooth, soft and fine. It goes on smoothly on my face without much blending effort. All I need is just a small pea size of the cream and it’s sufficient to cover the whole face effortlessly. I had this rosy glow throughout the whole day without looking cakey and oily.

Rachek K14
You know what? I’m already a huge fan of Rachel K CC Cream. It’s the best product to replace BB Cream with it’s much-improved and refined formula for color control properties. It gave me excellent coverage just like liquid foundation without looking heavy and cakey.

Rachel K range is also affordable and easy to get. With the price tag that is kinder to the wallet I’d definitely repurchase this when I finish the current tube.

Original and Neutral looks good on my yellow tone but I still prefer Neutral as it’s meant for yellow undertone.

        • Yes cause I’m yellow undertone. Original gave me the red flush look because I had skin allergy before that. I’ve put a note in the review explaining the redness.

  • How is it like when compare to liquid foundie??eeepps this look good

    • I think BB / CC Cream can’t be compared with foundie but I can say that this one is medium coverage BUT buildable. The best part is no matter how much you layer on it still feels nothing on the skin. Whereas for foundie you’d feel it on the skin especially if you are trying to build the coverage.

You gotta try out the texture at Guardian babe! It’s smooth!

    • Could it be because you’re pink undertone? Then you should try Original hehe.
