L’Occitane Foundation Scented Candles

L’Occitane is running a fundraising campaign by selling the L’Occitane Aromachologie Relaxing Candle 25g. Proceeds raised ill go to the newly established division of the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) – Deafblind & Multi-Handicapped Unit. The funds will be used for the rehabilitation and education of children with visual impairment, empowering them with the knowledge and skills required to get ahead in life.

As I needed to collect my FB contest prize from One Utama outlet and I wanted to do my part for charity, I bought 5 pcs (in picture there’s only 4 as I’ve given 1 to Fennie on the same day) of the scented candles for my friends. After being put off at cashier counter, I later was told by one of the sales girl who was attending to a customer at the cashier counter (which is why I was told to wait for 10-15mins just to make payment) that they only accept cash for charity related products. While I was paying for the scented candle I asked if 100% of the sales will go to the foundation or certain percentage. The sales girl (different sales girl who’s more polite) replied only a certain percentage after deducting the cost will go to the foundation.

25g might sound very small but it’s quite OK considering the thick glass container that was used. The gift card attached is a good touch.

Clarins We Care 2011 Friends of the Earth Pencil Case

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha to all Muslim readers! Happy holiday!

Yes. It’s a long weekend for all of us in Malaysia. I was on leave since Friday thus I’m having 4 days off. Was planning to go KLCC in the morning to check out some magazines but diverted my plan to One Utama as I needed to register for U Mobile broadband to replace the stupidslowuselessexpensivelagging DiGi broadband. I thought I could chat with Fennie abit, do some eyeshadow swatches, check out the Christmas sets and buy some We Care 2011 pencil case but she’s on leave.

Anyway I make a purchase of half dozen of Clarins We Care 2011 Friends of the Earth Pencil Case as some friends wanted it as well. You might or might not aware that I’m also helping Clarins to sell the pencil case too (read here) so the bulk purchase will be in stages.

You’d rarely see my photo here so here’s one LOL!!! Just for the good cause :). My friend in FB just commented that I looked miserable hahaha. I tried not to smile too widely cause there’s a photo where I was happily smiling and someone said I looked different and ask me WHAT’S WRONG. Sigh. . . not smiling also cannot, smile also cannot.

Here’s me posing with the super cute Friends of the Earth pencil case.

Friends of the Earth pencil case measures at 17.5cm width across with 8.5cm height. The zipper pull comes with a cute red heart with “Clarins We Care” stamped on it. There’s a green cloth lining inside and piping is done as well. No worries on sloppy case as this is not. The case is made from recycling materials and imprinted with adorable animals motifs, aims to encourage children on importance of recycling and saving the environment which includes saving electricity and water, reducing the usage of consumable materials.

The eco message reflecting the 3 pillars imprinted on the pencil case set as a reminder for them on practicing the 3Rs lifestyle on a daily basis. Each animal representing one of the topical pillars; Tiger: Electricity, Orang utan: Consumable materials, Elephant: Water.

Make a change. Make a better world.

Let us come together and make a difference in the lives of these underprivileged children by supporting this charitable campaign.

Clarins We Care 2011: Clarins Gives The Underprivileged Children Hope For Future

Children are precious gifts and each of them deserve the best in parental care. However, not all children have this privilege. With no exception, these underprivileged children need adequate love and care. They are also the building blocks of a society and we must help them achieve their dreams for a meaningful tomorrow. Clarins always believes that education is the key fundamental element that will guarantee a brighter future for these underprivileged children.

A yearly affair, Clarins We Care aims to promote and provide these impoverished children a better upbringing in which they can attain their full potential to lead a meaningful life in the future. We believe this is through education. Every year, Clarins raise funds though by providing educational tools to the homes which in need.

Clarins is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and remains loyal to its founding value of its founder, Jacques Courtin- Clarins. From the very beginning, the Clarins Group has based its long term development on respect for Mankind and Nature. Clarins often emphasize on the importance of preserving the environment for our future generation. We believes by educating children on the importance on 3Rs (reuse, reduce, recycle), this will further enable the children to practice an environmental lifestyle starting at a young age.

Environmental education among children is very important. It plays a role in shaping lifelong attitudes, values, and patterns of behaviour toward natural environments. It enables children to develop a sense of respect and caring for the natural environment. Though positive interactions with the natural environment play an important part of healthy child development, and these interactions enhance learning and the quality of life over their lifetime.

“Educating the children is the best investment we can make for the future. By lending a helping hand to these children go a long way to improving the lives and giving them the necessary education to grow and prosper in our society”, said Mr. Tan Seong Teck, General Manager of Clarins Malaysia.

This year, Clarins We Care Charity has selected on the theme “Friends of the earth” whereby Clarins has created a pencil pouch which made from recycling materials and imprinted with adorable animals motifs, aims to encourage children on importance of recycling and saving the environment which includes saving electricity and water, reducing the usage of consumable materials.

The eco message reflecting the 3 pillars imprinted on the pencil case set as a reminder for them on practicing the 3Rs lifestyle on a daily basis. Each animal representing one of the topical pillars:

Tiger:                       Electricity,
Orang utan:               Consumable materials,
Elephant:                   Water.

Everything in the world is interdependent. The endangered animals in Malaysia featured on the pencil pouch set as a reminder for the children on the importance of protecting the environment whereby their small actions indirectly help to save the habitats of these endangered animals. Children can start practicing the 3Rs by learning to save electricity when it’s not in use, reduce the consumption of water by turning off the tap when not in use and reduce the usage of consumable materials for instance, reduce the usage of plastic bags. These are the small actions that should be taken into consideration and in the long run will save the environment.
Let us come together and make a difference in the lives of these underprivileged children by supporting this charitable campaign. The recyclable pencil pouch will be sold at RM 15 and available at all Clarins counters from 1 November to 31 December 2011. Proceeds received from the sale of the pencil case will be used to purchase educational tools such as computer, laptop, reference book, storybook, which will help in building these children to enhance their learning abilities.

Some info About Clarins We Care Project
Incepted 10 years ago, Clarins spearheads efforts to improve lives of less fortunate children through its yearly Clarins We Care Charity. As of today, Clarins has raised more than RM550,000 benefiting thousands of children from various deserving charitable organizations to gain a brighter and more beautiful futures.

What I’m doing to be a part of this meaningful project?
To help out Clarins Malaysia to make this project a success this year, I am going to volunteer to be your personal shopper! Everyone is getting busier day by day and most of us did our shopping online (especially myself!) and you are too busy to run over to shopping complex to make a purchase. A small group of people would either shy or reluctant to approach the counter and enquire about it. As you might not aware, Clarins does not offer online shopping nor shipping. Therefore I will be purchasing in bulk with my own money in advance in normal price and I will courier it to you (postage paid by buyer). Yeap. I do not buy in wholesale price nor do I profit any cent so please don’t ask for discount for the sake of charity! As mentioned above postage will be paid by buyer as I am just helping you to purchase it.

Disclaimer: Please bear in mind I am doing this to spread awareness and as a favor to those that prefer online shopping. Clarins does not paid me anything and I am not obligate to do charity for anyone else other than We Care 2011 project. It’s not necessary to purchase from me. You can always go to Clarins counter nationwide to make your purchase.

For those who are interested or if you have any enquiry on We Care 2011, please do not hesitate to contact me at feeyona.loh[at]gmail[dot]com.
