Make Up - Face Mary Kay Review: Make Up

Review: Fashion, Color and Luminous Skin Come Together In An Entirely New Dimension with Mary Kay Sheer Dimensions Powder #Pearls

Many oily skin girl would dodge anything that can make them look oily. Not me. Despite having oily skin, I am a big fan of illuminating products and I do not hesitate to apply daily. Things that a girl will do to look pretty eh?

I have introduced a few illuminating finishing powder before. My love for these powder grew more and more especially when this Mary Kay Sheer Dimensions Powder #Pearls came through the mail.

Sheer Dimensions Powder provides a flawless, high-definition finish. I personally think that the word “dimension” within its name really does give the face that dimensional look. I’ll show you later.

A trial was conducted to 10 women. As a result 9 out of 10 women achieved the following:

  • 97% said it creates a soft-focus effect and is easy to apply
  • 94% agreed it provides all-over luminosity and a camera-ready complexion
  • 92% said it does not settle into fine lines, and skin looks fresh and radiant all day.

The powder is housed in a full plastic case. Rest assured it is quite well-made. The lid on top is transparent therefore you can see the beautiful pearly powder on the pan.

The science behind this is using breakthrough technology that are able to create new depth and forms in powder. Did you notice the surface of the powder is with a few different sizes of embossing? The three dimensional embossing is able to help you to achieve heights beyond traditional pressed powder’s technology. Sheer Dimensions Powder provides a light-diffusing effect. I couldn’t agree more.

There’s 3 main ingredients in Sheer Dimensions Powder – Spherical Powders, Optical Diffusers and Plant-Derived Ingredient. These 3 ingredients have it’s own function.

  • Spherical Powders – Doesn’t settle into any fine lines and wrinkles. It gives the formula a smooth, velvety texture that feels soft and weightless on the skin.
  • Optical Diffusers – Light is reflected for a more radiant and soft-focus effect.
  • Plant-Derived Ingredient — Also known for its benefits towards skin-softening and hydration.

The powder is absolutely pretty especially the sheen that it gave even from the pan. There is 4 different variant in Sheer Dimensions Powder range – Pearls, Ribbon, Lace and Chiffon. Of all 4 variant I think Pearls (which is this pink one) is easier to use and more suitable for fairer skin tone like mine. Mary Kay said you can’t make a “wrong” choice. So whether you want to look like you’re bathed in candlelight, are fresh from a brisk autumn walk or just returned from an island paradise, the buildable, easy to blend formula makes it easy to create the effect you want.

This illuminating powder should not be treated as overall face powder unlike Guerlain Meteorites as Sheer Dimensions Powder is more creamier, thick and more shimmering. So yes, you can’t really make a wrong choice with this.

The case is housed in a matte black box that opens up like a gift box. A rather special type of box packaging that compliments the simple powder case.

I knew that a normal swatch would freak everyone out. Most probably all of you will be thinking ZOMG I’d look so white/pink! Well, you won’t :). Of course a normal swatch would be more towards pink as you are aware. Once I sheer it out a bit it is no longer pink but more white. But that also doesn’t mean you’ll appear ghostly white. You don’t need to apply a lot when it comes to illuminating.

The application is simple. How I am doing it is a bit different from the instruction. I dip (not swirl) my brush lightly onto the pan, tap off the excess and apply onto the copy of cheekbones, forehead, temples, nose and chin. It can also be applied to apples of cheeks (which I don’t), shoulders and décolleté. If you swirl your brush on the pan, there is a big possibility that your brush is picking up way too much powder than needed.

The Before and After is amazing. On the day I just had my powder on it is so obvious that my face looked flat. The next day when I had Mary Kay Sheer Dimensions Powder #Pearls on, my face immediately brighten, glow and even looking “dimensional” with overdoing it. Other illuminating finishing powder will just give you that sheen or shimmers but this one is different. This is what I meant earlier by dimensional.

My face doesn’t seems to look oily too. I may look glowing but certainly not oily. Some illuminating powder trick my eye sight thinking my face actually oiled up. With this powder I didn’t experience that.
