Budget - Make Up Budget Buy Daiso Review: Make Up

Daiso Eye Brow Pencil: It was out of stock a year ago and recently back on shelf!

So the story is, I was very much into trying out different Daiso Eye Brow Pencil and this particular eye brow pencil caught my eye due to the catchy packaging and it is the one eye brow pencil that doesn’t look as cheapo as the rest. I bought it, used it the next morning, love it so much that I wanted to tell you about it. I even went back to get a spare. Two weeks later right before penning down my review, I went to Daiso to double check if it’s still available. You know, just in case it was taken out of shelf then it wouldn’t be nice to talk about something that was out of stock. Turns out my sixth sense was right after all. It was out of stock everywhere (the few Daiso I went to).

To be frank, I never stop searching for this eye brow pencil. It has been a year and I still have hope that one day it will reappear on the shelf again. Just last week I went to Daiso to repurchase some Anna Sui inspired brush holder, so I casually walked over to the eye brow pencil section and I couldn’t believe what I just saw. The long out of stock eye brow pencil is now well-stocked up on shelf!

Since I wasn’t willing to spend near to RM40 for an Empro from Watsons, this Daiso one would be the perfect alternative 😀 . I am not particular about eye brow pencil brand, price or whatsoever because I go through eye brow pencil like no body’s business. So I’m constantly on the lookout for interesting eye brow pencil to try. Oh gawd, this reminds me to get Shu Uemura H9.

First thing first, most Daiso products doesn’t have a name. Everything is straight to the point and everything is stamped with Daiso Japan logo and printed “Produced for Daiso Japan” on the back. I’m naming this Daiso Eye Brow Pencil and there could be a dozen more eye brow pencil from Daiso with the same name. Just recognise the product by it’s packaging, aight?

This particular Daiso Eye Brow Pencil comes in two shades – Light Brown that comes with pink packaging and Dark Brown that comes with purple packaging like the below. Usually dark grey would suits my black-ish hair color but since they don’t have it, I’ll have to settle with Dark Brown instead. One of the reason why I like this one is because it come packaged in such way that I’m able to see what I’m purchasing. The two caps is placed separately on each end so that buyer is able to tell those were caps for the ends, a transparent cap on the eye brow pencil end and spoolie displayed on the other end.

No doubt there’s dozens of eye brow pencil being sold in Daiso but most of them are pencil (the type where you need to sharpen) or rounded lead automatic pencil. I was drawn to this also mainly because of the triangular lead shape. If you’ve used a triangular eye brow pencil before you will be reluctant to switch back to others. That is why I had a hard time when this is out of stock.

The spoolie is big, fat and dense LOL. It’s better to have a spoolie on one end than nothing at all 🙂

Daiso Eye Brow Pencil 4
Oh and let me warn you the pencil design is the simplest you’ve ever seen. Just the way I like it. Even though so, you need not to open the cap randomly to find for the pencil end because the one with spoolie is labeled with a word “Brush” with an arrow pointing to it. How thoughtful 😉

A triangular eye brow pencil is useful for me because I can get three different types of line I want. A fine line for the eye brow tip, a medium line using the wider side for areas where I want to intensify and using the flat surface to fill in color on larger area either lightly or hard handed.

P/S: Sorry, in real it’s not so red. It’s more like a dark grey shade than the brown below. It’s my camera setting 😛

What I like about this Daiso Eye Brow pencil is the waxy texture. As you all know I have oily skin. Crayon or pencil type of eye brow pencil usually melts and sit on my skin. And if I accidentally rubbed it off, I am left with no eye brow. This eye brow pencil stays put until I remove it with eye makeup remover. I also like it for it’s shade. It went on less red / brown on me, almost like a dark grey with a hint of brown.

I think the formula has changed too. I notice that if I twist the lead too long, it will break easily. The waxy texture is also more intense because I find it a tad bit hard to apply on. I’m not too sure yet if it’s the texture or if it’s because I swipe on powder foundation underneath. The powder could be too thick for the eye brow pencil to go on effortlessly. It took me some time to get the color on, no thanks to the powder foundation. If it’s a loose powder or normal powder then there will not be any issue at all. Anyhow I love this pencil to bits!

Remember, eye brow is suppose to be sisters not twins. It’s okay if you can’t get both shape identical. They’re not suppose to be identical 😀

Daiso Eye Brow Pencil is available at all Daiso outlet.
Price: RM5. In fact everything at Daiso is RM5! 🙂

  • I have used this before and reviewed! Now you reminded me to grab them again. This is one of the best picks for brow pencil. There is another which is in full silver is quite good too but the brown has more red undertone to it.

    • I think I remember your review. I wanted to review but found out it’s out of stock so I back out. Then I saw your review and I’m even more sadder because I quite like it. Can’t do brown undertone due to my hair color hehe. I’m also liking the ZA Eye Brows. They have grey that’s close to light black. Quite nice too.

      • Now, I want to look for them again! I think I want to give grey a try too, will see how it goes if I could find it. Speaking of ZA, that is the last one I have used and manage to use it till it’s gone!

        • Buy for spare! I’m going Pavilion Daiso in a while to help Datin Cynthia to buy. ZA one is quite good so it’s not surprising that you managed to finish it 😀

  • I think I should check them out. Never dared to purchase cosmetics from Daiso because it’s only RM5 as we won’t know what ingredients they used. Btw, you looked so much fairer. What did you use? 🙂

    • It’s a quick powder I swipe on to take photo. No preparation done prior thus looking fair.
I’ve gone through a few eye brow pencil from Daiso. So far my brows are still intact lol

  • I haven’t started drawing my eyebrows yet as they’re naturally thick. Not that bushy thick but it’s “there” XD now I feel like practising to draw and fill it in. I have heard tonnes of good reviews on this Daiso eyebrow pencil, maybe one day I’ll get it 🙂

    • I envy you! My brow stop growing 10 years ago. So what ever was gone is long gone haha. I cannot go out with just powdering my face without drawing on eye brow. It used to be the hardest to draw on. Now it’s a daily norm for me 😀
As for yours, you just need to trim it neat. Maybe an eye brow mascara is all you need.

  • Looks similar to the Lioele one I used but six time the price!

    • There’s a handful of eye brow pencil in triangular shape 🙂 . I only knew Empro. Liole is now in Muse by Watsons. Gonna check Lioele one out 😀

    • Haha thanks! I like my right eye brow but the left one is like the evil sister. I couldn’t get the similar arch and shape 😛

  • I am amazed with the end product. I can see how good it is. Nobody will know it is from Daiso. We can’t say cheap things aren’t good right.

    • I know right? No one will know 😀 . I find cheap gem sometimes. Waxy is good for oily skin. It stays put without budging.

      • I gonna buy one and try! haha. Cause I seldom use eyebrow pencil. It will be a waste if I buy Empro and use a few times and let it sit in my make up tray most of the time.

        • Eeee lucky you! After I apply foundation, I looked like I have no eyebrow at all 😛
I’m not gonna support Empro since they messed up Essence with crappy customer service.

  • Wow., the effect really looks nice on you. I have always like triangular shaped eyebrow pencils. I have Shu Umera Hard 9 and also the Empro one. They are expensive of course but to me, having well-shaped eye brows are a must as they frame your face. My problem is that because my hair is black (just like yours) I need to use the shade in grey. I still think that the eyebrow pencil that suits me best is the Hard 9 one in Stone Grey. Not sure how this brown will look on me but it is worth a try since it is only RM5. Thanks for the review Fiona, your post is always so insightful 🙂

    • I’ve always wanted Shu Uemura H9 because of the way they sharpen until it’s flat and pointy. Not keen on Empro. I think it’s overpriced 😛
Grey is the best for black hair girl like ours. Black pencil is out. Grey is in! This Dark Brown came off looking like dark grey. It’s not that brown.

  • Oh no, I think you started a stampede for this product, Fiona! I’m off to find it too 🙂
So exciting to find a new (and cheap but good!) product. Daiso is such a treasure chest. I recently picked up a teapot and strainer there that I love. You would not believe how hard it is to find a good teapot lol

    • Thank goodness it’s stampede for Daiso haha! Warehouse sales is the best place to stock up on eye brow pencil. First thing I ask for is eye brow pencil 😀 . Actually before I met you this afternoon, I just went to Daiso to get another two eye brow pencil for my friend.
I found a super huge, thick, sturdy, clear makeup bag with some cute skin care bottles design on the front. And it’s only RM5! Lots of funky household stuff too.

  • I used Empro before. Currently using Kate triangle eyebrow pencil. Saw your post about triangle eyebrow pencil. I never thought Daiso has this type of eyebrow pencil and with this quality. I’m gonna get to try this. I went to 3 outlets but can’t find it. May I know which outlet is available? 🙁

    • I have the Kate one bought from recent sales in Isetan KLCC. It’s still unused 😀

By the way, will you put your Kate into Blog Sale? ^^ I’m interested 😀

          • Haha I see. It’s okay. Anyway, Kate’s triangle eyebrow pencil is good too. It has another end which is eyebrow smudge tip. I love Kate but the price is a bit high (Selling RM52 at Watsons).

          • Yeap. I bought it also because of the tip. I bought it at RM26 only 😉

          • Half the price….. T . T

          • Yeap. It’s cosmetic clearance 🙂

  • Omg, I been searching for this one too.. may I ask whuch location u find it? Thxx

    • Mid Valley, as per reply to one of the comment 🙂 . Most Daiso I went have this. Try bigger Daiso. You’ll most probably have better luck there.

        • Try Mid Valley. It’s bigger store there. I go there at least once a week and everytime I’m there it’s full in stock. But I can’t promise you anything. Just in case you went and its out of stock. You know how store is.
