Make Up - Face Paul & Joe Review: Make Up

Review: Loving My Pearl Blusher; Paul & Joe Face Color C

I have a confession. I’ve been guarding a blusher like an eagle as it’s too precious to be used. I bought a Paul & Joe Holiday 2010 set; Paul & Joe Face Color & Lip Gloss Set back in 2011 because of this meteorites-like blusher. The set is not cheap though. I paid RM109 for the whole set. The star product of the set is none other than this Face Color C.

You might already know that Paul & Joe had pulled out from Malaysia market since April 2012. I’m savoring every last bits of what’s left in my stash and this is my precious. Paul & Joe Face Color C comes with a puffy lollipop applicator but it was too cute to be used so I kept it aside.

I’m really confuse with Paul & Joe product name and code. Almost most blusher is named as Face Color or Face Color C including this one that I had.

The blusher in real is not as dusty as the one in below picture. I carried the blusher in my hand looking for a right spot to take picture before I realized I shouldn’t be swinging the product. Thus the dusty look.

There’s only 15g of products in this small pot. The can itself is well-made while the pearls are quite red. It is also slightly perfumed but not to worry as the scent went off a few second after application.

At first I was quite worried that it might be too red for me but soon found out it’s not.

There’s only 4 different color and size pearls. Pink (1), Red (2), Pearl White (3) and Beige (4). This small can contain quite a lot of pink and red with less pearl white and beige.

I tried to swatch each pearl for you but failed to capture the beautiful color. In real the swatch on my hand is much more pigmented and pretty.

I said earlier I was worried that the color might be too red for me but funny thing is once I swirl my brush in the pot the color payoff is more towards red coral with a slight golden sheen. I like the color very much! It’s different from any other blusher. I’m mostly attracted to the goldie sheen of the blusher.

I notice that I’ve been reaching over to this blusher more than any other blusher lately. I just love the beautiful glow that it gave me.

I’m using Ecotools skunk brush to apply this blusher onto the top of my cheek. Do you know that you’re not suppose to apply blusher on the apple of your cheek directly? Instead apply blusher on top of the apple of your cheek. Simple reason behind the explanation is that when you smile it looked nice just like the picture below but when you don’t smile it looked like as if your blusher is on your face below the cheek and it looked horrible. I’ve tried this theory and it works.

For this picture I purposely intensify the application and applied on larger area on my cheek so that my camera could capture the color.

Okay. I need to hunt for more meteorites blusher.

This is so far my favorite blusher simply because the color payoff is beautiful, gives me the glow, pigmented and natural looking. But the color stained my skunk brush and the color just won’t come off. Grrrrr!

Paul & Joe Face Color C is a part of Paul & Joe Face Color & Lip Gloss Holiday 2010 set. The brand had pulled out from Malaysia in April 2012.
Price: I bought RM109 for the whole set.

    • Yeap. They have pretty makeup.

I’ve dropped the blusher a few time so some of the pearls is broken in the case 😛

  • Oh cool. This is like blusher in pearl form 🙂 Thanks for the tip on applying blush. I have been applying the blush in an inconsistent manner, some days it looks nice and subtle, some days I look like I have a huge patch of red allergy on the apple of my cheeks! So yesterday I tried to apply slightly above the apple of my cheeks, just nice on the cheek bone and sweep upwards towards my ears (if this direction makes sense lol). I think the result looked better. The blush looked more focussed in one area rather than spread all over my cheek. I have not tried Paul & Joe because back then I was not applying any make up at all. But this one you have here looks great 🙂

    • Yes, that’s how you apply blusher. Upper apple of the check and swipe all the way to the ear.
