Clarins Make Up - Remover Review: Make Up

Review: Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water, Makeup Remover for the Lazy Days

I was thinking hard a few days ago on what Clarins review to write. I know I still owe a Double Serum review but I haven’t even started using it. Oppss, my bad! That day was a weekend and I went out with the family to various car showroom to test some cars. So I had foundation, powder, blusher and lipstick on. By the time I reached home I was feeling lazy to remove everything off properly with cleansing oil or milk so I whipped this bottle of Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser out considering I don’t have anything waterproof on.

Clarins came out with 2 variant of this one-step cleanser. The green one – Water Purify One-Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water is meant for combination or oily skin while the orange one – Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser with Peach Essential Water is for normal or dry skin. As I have combination to oily skin I was recommended Water Purify One-Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water.

The one that I bought is still in old packaging. Clarins Malaysia only brought in the new packaging right after I bought it. Not the first time! Urrgghhh!

As you can see it really resemble water. Basically this is cleansing water. It’s clear but in green color which I assume is the mint. Eventhough so I can’t detect any mint scent nor any minty sensation from the cleanser.

Clarins claimed that you’d feel fresh from cleansing with water minus the water. If that makes any sense LOL. It is said that it’s suitable for light makeup. If you have heavy makeup on I don’t suggest you using this no matter how tired or lazy you are. I bet you already know that.

Here’s the ingredient list if you’re interested.

The bottle is exactly the same as their previous toner bottle. The dispense hole is quite huge but absolutely no fuss in pouring to cotton pad.

I was told to pour just a 20 cent size onto cotton pad for the whole face. Now. You and I know that doesn’t cut it. No matter how light is the makeup that I had on my face, 20 cents doesn’t remove everything! No way! Just so you know Avene have a similar cleanser too and I was told to use just 20 cent size of cleanser as well. No matter how I tried, it just doesn’t remove everything. Maybe just my forehead but definitely not enough for the whole face. My advice is to repeat the process when necessary.

The scent however is quite nice. If you like how fragrant Clarins product is then you’ll like the scent of this. Me on the other hand is a fan of Clarins’ fragrant. It does indeed smell fresh and do feel fresh after using. Although it’s in water form it’s quite sticky for a water which makes sense due to the ingredients in it.

With light makeup on, I normally would need 3-4 cotton pad. That only remove the makeup on the surface. What I notice is that first cotton pad is more dirtier and it gets lighter and lighter. I stop at 3rd cotton pad because you don’t get a very clean cleansing no matter how many times you repeat. As usual double cleansing is needed. Sometimes I’d use a 4th cotton pad just to wipe off the residue and to make sure I properly remove the foundation off.

If you are wondering why double cleansing is still needed, well…this is only meant to be use for a quick removing when you need to refresh your makeup. As rinsing is not needed you can immediately redo your makeup. Quite useful when you need to have a makeover after work to a party. As for me I use it when I had light makeup on.

If you ask me if this cleanser is necessary, I’d say NO. You don’t really need this as you can easily and properly remove makeup thoroughly using cleansing milk if you don’t feel like using cleansing oil. To be frank I only bought this for fun. Most of the time this bottle is stuck deep in a whole stash of my skin care that I can’t remember I own this. Yes this bottle of cleanser is neglected.

If you are looking to try various removers then you can try this one from Clarins. So far I’ve tried all Clarins cleansers and removers. This one is at the bottom of my repurchase list.

Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water is available at all Clarins counter nationwide.

  • Cleansing water? No thanks hehe. You are right. I don’t think so it is necessary to have it. I don’t “refresh” my makeup anyway. Thanks for reviewing this. At least I know now that cleansing water are not necessary to have.

    • I know right? So sad that cleansing water is not meant to remove makeup on daily basis. Otherwise it’d be really so convenient 🙂

  • The BA told me that cleansing water is meant for traveling purpose because of the time, most people would like to travel light. I’ve tried Clarins cleansing water before, and the scent is ok. Other brands have cleansing water too but they don’t name it cleansing water. They have another name for it.

    • I don’t agree with the BA though. How can you travel light with the same bottle size eh? Plus most people that makeup will still do makeup when they travel. This one don’t remove thoroughly. I know other brand have other name for cleansing water. I’ve used before.

  • Love the greenish colour of the cleanser! hehe
The price is expensive. I prefer cleansing wipes if that’s the case.

You’re right too. Quick cleansing using cleansing wipes. It’s faster LOL

    • Oh don’t want. They call and ask for info which I’m not comfortable with LOL.

  • yep, they ask! skin consultation through the line LOLLL

    Reply
    • That’s why I’m not comfortable. I mean I’m just applying for sample ONLINE. Why should I even talk on consultation ON THE PHONE? This goes against my “online sampling” policy.

  • Have u tried micelles water? The one from caudalie is really effective at removing makeup and its not even thick liquid. Saved me heaps of time!!!

    • Yes I have EL. But only Avene. It is more lighter than this Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser 🙂

I wanted to try Caudalie! Let me finish some of the stash before I venture to Caudalie haha.

  • I actually use this when I wake up in the morning so I don’t have to go through the cleansing ritual with my foaming cleanser.

    • Oh. Isn’t it easier to just wash with foaming cleanser? :). I find this troublesome i.e. using the cotton pad and a bit sticky.
