Hada Labo Review: Skin Care Skin Care - Firming Skin Care - Hydrating Skin Care - Toner Skin Care - Wrinkle / Fine Lines

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion: Anti-aging toner with intense hydration? Interesting!

Fans of Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming range would be delighted to know that Hada Labo recently improvised the whole anti-aging range by adding in exclusive cutting-edge technology known as the Insta-3D Moisture-Lock Technology into the formula. It is a combination of 4 types of Hyaluronic Acid  – 3D Hyaluronic Acid, Nano Hyaluronic Acid, Super Hyaluronic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid that linked together to form a 3D moisture net that works by deeply moisturizing the skin and wrapping the skin in order to lock-in moisture for continuous hydration.

I have here with me the Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion. Although I have no fine lines or any signs of aging at the moment, honestly at my age I would prefer this over Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion. People say, prevention is always better than cure 😀

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion
The whole Retinol Lifting + Firming range consists of five products namely Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion, Retinol Lifting + Firming Milk, Retinol Lifting + Firming Essence, Retinol Lifting + Firming Cream and Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask. Hada Labo products are known for it’s iconic moisturizing factor so what’s so special about the new upgraded range eh? The 3D Hyaluronic Acid that I’ve mentioned above is Hada Labo’s latest discovery to lock-in moisture for even longer time. As a result, skin stays soft, supple and smooth for a longer period.

No surprise with the bottle design. The lotion comes in a huge red bottle with a tight cap. I have to mention tight cap because this clumsy girl dropped the bottle several time and no spillage lol.

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion in this case bears the same step and function as a toner. It is to be used after cleansing by pouring the lotion onto palms and pat gently on the skin until it’s fully absorbed. It is pH balanced, alcohol-free, colorant-free, preservative-free, mineral oil-free and also fragrance-free. What it does is it refreshes and tone the skin texture at the same time with Retinol Vitamin A for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, Collagen for skin elasticity improvement (firms and lift the skin) and Super Hyaluronic Acid to lock-in moisture for intense hydration instantly. The lotion texture is not like any ordinary toner that you have on your dresser. I do find this to resemble “essence-in-lotion” type of product, afterall on the bottle it is written that regular usage prepares the skin to boost the results of other skincare products. It’s thicker, it’s in milky white and slightly tacky on the skin. I don’t have to squeeze the bottle to get the lotion out. The lotion will just drip out by itself from the nozzle so if you do plan to pick up a bottle, be aware of this. This is because like I said, the texture is thicker and tackier so one or two drop is enough for the whole face and neck. If you pour too much out you will have a hard time patting the lotion until fully absorbed.

The thing is, I don’t have any signs of aging so I cannot tell you if this really significantly smoothen fine lines and wrinkles. Due to it’s texture, I do find this lotion to be moisturizing for my oily skin and I always woke up the next morning to a softer and well-moisturized skin. I find that I don’t need to layer too much of other serum or essence when I have this lotion on after cleansing. It work just like Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion, only difference is this one targets more on aging skin. Usually I’m not a fan of thick lotion as I like to layer my skincare. Layering skincare is a routine that I find relaxing and soothing for me. But eversince I’m on Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion, I never expect myself to say this but I do enjoy the simplicity of my skincare routine. Lately it has been just cleanser > lotion > cream and I’m off to bed 😀

One bottle could last you for ages months. I’ve not even used up 1cm of the lotion even after using day and night for more than a month! Talking about value for money eh? 😀

  • Lovely clear photo as usual Fiona. Thanks for the review. I was contemplating to get the normal Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion or this one. I think my skin age will suits this anti-ageing version.

    • Thanks Diana 😀
I prefer this one as it’s less watery than Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion 😉

  • This lotion is quite expensive for a drugstore. Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion is too much for oily skin. This red bottle looks less oily. I’m intrigued^^

    • I’ve tried both. I prefer to apply Super Hyalurionic one AFTER mask. Face is bouncy thereafter. But it’s not suitable for me for day time. Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion is suitable for my oily skin even on day time. Just need to watch out for numbers of drop to be used 🙂

  • I have quite a big crush on Hada Labo products haha. I am using use their lotion, mild peeling lotion, sunscreen, BB cream (Holy Grail that saved my wallet from Dior), cleanser and cleansing oil! So far, their range of products has not failed me. Pricing wise, it goes easy on the wallet and there are occasional promotions at the local drug stores. I have tried the firming lotion and thought it was a decent product. While I cannot attest to seeing any visible firming results, I am thankful it did its job to leave my skin softer and no allergy at all. You have a set of super photos here! I love the floral background and the bottle has a newer design with slight clear cap cover as opposed to the previous opaque one. Lovely review and thanks for sharing the tips on how to prevent tacky application effect.

    • You are probably the biggest Hada Labo fan I ever known 😀 . I like that they have different affordable sets at drugstore. Plus the price is not a bank breaker too. I do agree with you on the firming effect. I don’t see it on me though. Probably because I don’t have dry skin type with fine lines and wrinkles. I feel that this will work much better on those skin type.
Thanks. I kinda forget about the floral sheet I have so I took it out 😛

  • Now I am intrigued, thanks to you and Jennifer here..LOL
I have always want to try the Hada Labo SHA, but didn’t have the gut to test it out. My skin type is combination and dehydrated, easily clogged pores. Fine lines is coming to be my next concern for my age (i’m 34).
Have to have this in my skincare list.
I am using new Hada Labo Sunscreen in moist.

    • SHA would be perfect for you! It doesn’t clog pores because it’s Hyaluronic Acid. But since fine lines is also your concern, the best alternative is this Retinol Lifting + Firming 🙂 . The sunscreen is the bomb diggity haha
