Review: Sampar Glamour Shot – The Transparent Foundation for the Weekend

How many of you give your skin a break from skin care and makeup? I DO! *raise hand*

As you know I like to layer my skin care day and night and I decided to give my skin a break from all the skin care on weekend. The same goes to makeup. On weekend I mainly do my quick shopping so no makeup is needed. Believe this or not…I’ve been practicing this “break” ever since I started with Clarins. And to answer some of your question; no it’s not weird at all. I found out I’m not the only one. A blogger from Singapore did the same too! *high 5 girl!*

The question is. How about the days on weekend that I actually need to meet someone or when I need to do my beauty rounding at KLCC but not willing to put on makeup? I’ve found the foundation that is not only transparent but covers my pores, fine lines, broken capillaries and some of the redness. Sounds promising? Let me introduce you to Sampar Glamour Shot.

As I only receive a small sample of this, I need to be extra careful in the application on first and second use to get the result. There’s no room for error so I’m feeling a bit stress LOL.

Here’s a snap shot on the technology called the Urban Advance behind this transparent foundation which was developed by Sampar founder; Patrick Sounigo.

I don’t really agree with the Usage Direction for Glamour Shot. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to apply before foundation as Glamour Shot matte the surface of your skin! Then it says that you can apply this over liquid foundation. Once again it’s wrong. Glamour Shot is referred as “transparent foundation” therefore I think no liquid foundation is needed after Glamour Shot. Sorry Sampar!

The texture of Glamour Shot is similar to essence. It’s not runny or thick. Similar to Glamour Shot Eyes, I can’t stand the scent. This has stronger chemical scent than Glamour Shot Eyes. But luckily the scent went away a few second after application. Lucky for me 🙂

Once you spread Glamour Shot evenly on your face, it immediately turned matte which is soft to touch. Too bad I was unable to capture the picture properly as below. Otherwise you’d be amazed with what it did to my hand. All the lines is gone! Well not gone but covered. The only thing that is visible on my hand is the freckles. The only thing is visible is the brightness the product gave. Just look at the With and Without carefully and you’d notice the different.

Here comes the exciting Before and After comparison picture.

As Glamour Shot is known as “transparent foundation”, I’d expect no coverage of this. But I was amazed with the After result. It covers EVERYTHING on my face. Pores, fine lines, covered a bit of broken capillaries and covered slight redness on my face…you name it. It also brighten my face just a bit making it less dull. The most amazing part is that it covered slightly on the eczema patch on the inner of my brow so it’s not as red as before. Nothing could cover that previously. Even my laugh line is less visible!

Below is the ingredient list.

HQA microlens, new generation soft focus, reduces the appearance of pores, smoothes and mattifies the skin.
Oat extract provides an optimal and immediate lifting effect.
Encapsulated hyaluronic acid improves skin density and fills in wrinkles for a long-term effect.
Urban Advance Complex, a powerful alliance of 3 active ingredients (shea butter serum, mint endorphin and probiotic sugar), acts as an anti-oxidant shield, neutralizing any cutaneous imbalances linked to pollution, strengthens the skin’s natural defenses and shocks the skin back to life on a cellular level.

  • The coverage is better than BB cream, I assume. I’m not bothered with some “maps” on my face, but dark spots, no thanks to breakouts 🙁

    • This is transparent so not same result as BB Cream. At least with this on I looked better “without makeup”.

I still don’t understand how the “maps” happens. Suddenly I see that on the face. Sigh.

  • I do give my skin a break usually its a night on weekends. At least i don’t have to see my horrible skin when i am sleeping.lol WOW, i didn’t know that there is such thing as a transparent cream than can act as a foundation. I am left with pitted scars from breakouts and due to my itch hands.

    • I have itchy fingers too! Can’t stop touching my face lol!

Ok la. Skin break is like an excuse for being lazy :). Like that idea.

  • I just know that “maps” = broken blood capillaries. I have mine for as long as I could remember, and somehow I’m not bothered by it. But dark spots, or rather scars, that’s what drives me crazy. I find this product interesting as it is light, although like you say, the coverage is different than BB cream. Have to try it out soon.

    • That’s weird. Cause I wrote broken capillaries in my review and you commented “maps” so I assume it’s the same LOL. What is the maps that you’re talking about ya?

If you are okay bearing your acne marks a bit, this is the one for you :). For me I’m okay with weekends as I’m always with family on weekends.

      • Yes it is the same. I don’t know how it formed in the first place, but I read some articles saying that if you have a thin skin, broken capillaries is (usually) more visible. I have some on my thigh but only if you see closely. I see it all the time, lol.

I’m very conscious about my acne marks. My acne marks = dark spots = a pain to clear because it takes forever. Sometimes I wonder what should I target first – is it my dehydrated skin or the marks? Sigh.

        • Treat both dehydrated and marks. When your skin is properly moisturized, all other problem is easier to treat especially acne marks.
