Review: Skin Care Sephora Skin Care - Masks

Sephora Orchid Eye Mask: On the pricier side, comfortable on the skin but sadly does not deliver what was claimed

What I like about Sephora is that members get rewarded with birthday gift every year. Every year I get to claim my birthday gift on any day as long as it is within my birthday month i.e. September. This year however I was not allowed to claim my birthday gift. It seems that Sephora had changed their policy. An email notification will only be sent one week AFTER the actual birthday. No biggie about that as I received my email in just a few days after my birthday. And if I make a purchase, I will be rewarded with double points. I took this opportunity to check out the new sleeping mask but went home with Sephora Orchid Eye Mask instead 😀

My concern for the eye area has always been the fine lines and wrinkles. Those are signs of aging unfortunately, which is probably the one and only main concern for me when it comes to aging as these nasty lines makes me look older and haggard. There are a handful or two selections for their eye mask. I went with Orchid after talking to the Elaine, the friendly BA at Sephora IOI City Mall *thanks Elaine for the helpful assistance*!

Sephora Orchid Eye Mask claimed to minimize signs of aging, improving skin texture around the eyes, re-energize the eye area, and promises to give a smooth, youthful look. Now, that seems to be a lot of claims for an eye mask. We will see if this eye mask works, eh? 😀 . I have high hopes for you Sephora!

One thing to note. I know you won’t like it. This eye mask is Made in China. The description on the box said that the mask is made using orchid extract of natural origin made in France. In another word, ingredients are made from imported orchids while the whole manufacturing took place in China.

I bought a box of five pairs instead of individual pack as it is so much cheaper. A box retails for RM32, which comes to RM6.40 per piece. Okay. Suddenly that sounds a bit expensive lol.

Sephora Orchid Eye Mask Packaging
One thing I hate is how the actual eye mask and the protective sheet sticks together with the other eye mask. At first I have no idea there is a protective sheet. It is easier to separate if it is just two eye mask stuck together. But nooooo. There are four layers stuck together and it’s a nasty job trying to separate everything out. I got all the essence all over my fingers. The side facing the protective sheet is suppose to be the correct side to be in contact with the skin, but by the time I am done wrestling with all the sheets, I have no idea which side is which LOL. Don’t worry. I now know how to tackle this. Just separate a set of eye mask out, peel the protective sheet and place it on the eye area before moving to the other sheet.

Oh come on!

If you ask me what is so special about Sephora eye mask, I can tell you that the shape of the mask is different from others. It comes in a somewhat boomerang shape or a curvy L-shape if you must. The shorter curvy end covers the side of your eyes/face/temple. I wish that the essence is more. Understandably the eye mask material is kinda paper-like therefore it does not soak up a lot of essence. As for the scent, I do not smell anything. The orchid extract is just too light and thin for my nose to detect 🙁

Sephora Orchid Eye Mask On The Undereyes
Here are the Before and After. Do you see anything different? I don’t. Lol. Well, maybe just some lightening on the dark circles.

My favourite anti-wrinkle eye mask to date is still Purederm Anti-Wrinkle Gel Patches. It is not the most comfortable eye mask but it gave me instant result. I rely on that to soften the nasty fine lines on my under eyes before heading to any important events. Comparing to Purederm, this Sephora Orchid Eye Mask has a longggg way to go.

Sephora Orchid Eye Mask Before and After
There are a lot of positive reviews on the Sephora face mask so I was quite disappointed that the eye mask does not give me the result that I expected. No regrets with the purchase as I absolutely like to indulge in eye mask.

Have you try any face mask or eye mask from Sephora before? Do share what is your thoughts on them 🙂
