Clarins Make Up - Remover Review: Make Up

Review: Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover

One thing that I buy frequently is eye makeup remover. I used them up quite fast as I do my eye makeup everyday. Although not a heavy makeup but reasonable amount is needed to remove all the waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

Today’s eye makeup remover review is from none other than Clarins! I bought a bottle of Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover back in October 2011. This remover is 125ml and cost RM98. It’s a bi-phase remover which is meant for heavy and waterproof makeup. So far this is the most expensive eye make-up remover I ever used! Hope it’s as good as their skincare aight!

What I love about Clarins’ way of packaging their product is that they always shrink wrap the bottle cap part which is mostly covering half of the bottle or jar. This gave me a self relief that no one have open or used it before.

At the back of the bottle you’d find the usual info. Don’t you just love the sky blue color?

Shake well before use. Soak a cotton pad with product and wipe gently over eyelids then lashes without rubbing. Use a separate cotton pad for each eye.

This is how I remove my eye makeup.
Firstly, shake the remover vigorously to mix the liquid as this is bi-phase remover. Soak a cotton pad with remover in a line form. Refer picture below.

Then place the soaked part of the cotton pad under the eyelash and press onto your eyes. Stay in the position for 1-2 minutes and move your hand gently. Not rubbing but just move gently from left to right without the cotton pad moving. You’d notice all the eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner is transfered to the cotton pad :). Refer picture below as well.

Gross. I know.

Turn the cotton pad to the other end which is unused and swipe eyelid gently to remove the remaining traces of eye makeup as well as brow.

Obviously it does! I absolutely like this eye makeup remover very much that I bought another bottle at last year’s beauty fair.

1) Pricey (RM98) but huge bottle of 125ml.
2) Removes waterproof makeup completely. Even Coffret D’Or stubborn liquid eyeliner. Phew!
3) Doesn’t irritate eyes. Suitable for contact lens wearer.
4) No eyelashes fall out.

Definitely yes. This will be my main eye makeup remover but I will also stray to other brand just to try out.

Make Up - Eyes Review: Make Up Urban Decay

Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion #Original

Back in December 2011, I purchased a Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion 11ml in Original (hereinafter refer as UDPP) for RM55 from my favourite seller in eBay Malaysia. The only place to buy Urban Decay from retail is Sephora and it’s retailing at RM75 / USD20. Why didn’t I buy from Sephora you asked? Well if you knew your trusted authentic online seller is selling RM20 cheaper would you still get the retail one? In my case nope 🙂

Elite Cosmetics Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Review: Elite Paris Fantastic Primer

Sometime in November 2011, I attended Elite Cosmetics makeup launch in Malaysia and today I’m going to review one of the product which was given to me in the door gift bag.

I was delighted to received a Elite Fantastic Primer in my door gift bag as the MUA was promoting this during the makeover. Fantastic Primer comes in a 15ml glass bottle which is so hard that it didn’t broke when I accidentally dropped the bottle not once but 3 times lol! It is retailing at RM42.90. Elite cosmetics products are made in Italy and available exclusively at Watsons Malaysia. It is not available anywhere else as Watsons is the sole importer for the brand.

A make up base that matifies, hydrates and enegises. Hydration of the upper layers of the epidermis.

Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Dimenthicone Crosspolymer, PVP, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Laureth-7, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Parfum (Fragrance), Plankton Extract

There’s no written instruction on how to apply this.

This make up base or primer some might called it is in gel form. I’ve never use any gel form make up base before.

I usually pump about 3 to 4 pumps on my palm, warm it with both hands and gently apply onto my face after skin care and sun block. Sometimes I gently swipe on and sometimes I press onto my face. I wanted to try out which works better for my skin type and I find that it doesn’t make any different. This is how the gel looks like after spreading. It will melt into your skin as soon as you put it on your face. Which is pretty amazing.

Oh welllll, hmmm… on the first day I paired this with MUFE High Definition Foundation and it works well in making my face appear less oilier than usual. I’m not sure if it’s this make up base or it’s the foundation so I tried this with different foundation and sad to say this is not the one which has been making my face more matte than usual =(. For me it doesn’t hydrate or energise my skin. I have my Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Gel on which is doing the hydrating job for the skin.

1) Affordable for those who are new to make up.
2) Superb for normal skin type.
3) Scent-less and melt into skin immediately.
4) Available at Watsons stores which is easily to find.
5) Better in performance if to compare with Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector!

Not at the moment as I wanted to try other make up base in the market. My next try would be Laura Mercier ones.

Clarins Make Up - Lips Review: Make Up

Review: Clarins Joli Rouge #724 Simply Nude & #725 Pink Earth

I was gifted with 2 new Clarins Joli Rouge lipstick mid of November 2011 from a silent reader. She read about my passion and love for Clarins and she decided to send me some goodies to try. Read here. I’ve always wanted to buy their make up range especially the lipstick and compact powder and the gift set came just in time.

Clarins Joli Rouge is a long-wearing moisturising lipstick. This classic, creamy lipstick delivers stunning colour and silky-smooth shine. Formulated with the innovative extreme shine Maxi Lip Complex to help plump and hydrate for full, soft and supple lips. Deeply moisturising and long-wearing with a fruity, floral scent, this lipstick feels amazing from the minute you apply it

I appreciate the oval metal casing used which is sturdy enough for a clumsy girl like me. I was so afraid I drop the lipstick so I make sure I stuck it deep in my bag organiser. Clarins logo is embossed on top of the cap just like any other lipstick.

I was especially excited to received a nude lipstick. I don’t know why but coincidently at that time I was doing some research for nude lippie and I wanted to get one. The problem that I’m having is that I don’t have the perfect lips like other girls. I have dry, chapped lips which nude lippie is a no-no for me. Finding for the right nude lippie is not easy. However I found one finally.

Clarins Joli Rouge #724 Simply Nude is the solution! I’m amazed with the formula in Clarins lipstick. It just glides on smoothly on the lips. I would normally applied a layer of lip balm first. This is nude lippie which means there’s no shimmers in it. It doesn’t have the typical lipstick smell and it’s so moisturising and long lasting that the lipstick is still intact after a few hours and even after drinks and meals. You know that kind of uncomfortable feeling on your lips after meals that you need to remove it immediately? Well this lipstick doesn’t give me that uncomfortable feeling. In fact my lips still looks good as it is in the morning.

Clarins Joli Rouge #724 Simply Nude

Clarins Joli Rouge #725 Pink Earth however is more warm. The colour payoff is similar to purple shade only with a hint of maroon. Unlike Simply Nude, Pink Earth is with shimmers. Which is good otherwise the lippie would look too dark. The first time I saw this I gave a “eeekk” reaction thinking this would be too dark for me. I’m more of a pink or peach colour girl. But I was wrong. I fell in love with this colour and I’m using this more than Simply Nude lol. This applies on smoothly too.

Clarins Joli Rouge #725 Pink Earth

Here’s the swatches for both lipstick. I can’t decide which is the best swatch so I’m including 3 different swatches from 3 slightly different angle.

I hate lip gloss so this is perfect for me. It’s a combination of lipstick & lip gloss. I make sure I had this in my bag every day without fail.

Pros:
1) Moisturising.
2) Doesn’t have the typical lipstick smell.
3) Long lasting even after a few hours, drinks and meals.
4) Both lipstick (with or without shimmers) applies on smoothly.

Cons:
Couldn’t find any!

Laura Mercier Make Up - Lips Review: Make Up

Review: Laura Mercier Lip Pencil #Naked

I might have sounded that I picked up Laura Mercier Lip Pencil #Naked just to be eligible for free shipping but actually not. There’s a wide selection of good products to choose from but I particularly wanted a lip pencil to further “enhance” the lip lines especially on the outer corner of my lips. Yea I wasn’t born with pretty pouty small perfect lips.

Laura Mercier Lip Pencil #Naked that I got is trial size which weights only 0.39g. Small I know. I bought this for only RM15. It’s dirt cheap for a Laura Mercier.

The colour definition for this lip pencil is labeled as “Naked”. I would expect maybe nude colour which resemble a skin colour but the led is more to pinkish nude. The led is hard which is good. If it’s too soft, it’d be too fragile to draw onto the lips repeatedly.

Make Up - Face Review: Make Up Urban Decay

Review: Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray

If you remembered sometime beginning of December I bought Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray from my favourite eBay Malaysia seller. After using it for a good 2 weeks now, I’m ready for a review 🙂

Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray 118ml – RM75 (Retail price RM109)

De-Slick absorbs excess sebum and deflects surface shine with state-of-the-art light dispersing particles. The problem-solving, hypoallergenic formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it endures ALL DAY. This is a patent pending Temperature Control Technology that actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place. The sprayer, unlike others on the market, delivers a micro-fine mist that distributes product evenly over the skin.
