Clarins Make Up - Eyes Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Review: Clarins Mono Couleur #16 Pink Frost, #23 Silver Green & Clarins Blush Prodige #05 Rose Wood

During one of my Clarins haul in December 2011 I won myself a makeup set in a lucky draw with purchase of RM580 and above. In this makeup set there’s a Clarins Mini Make-Up Palette! I was extremely delighted as I’m always curious about Clarins makeup products and this mini palette enable me to try both their eyeshadow and blusher.

This mini make-up palette comes in a luxurious square gold casing which is the same gold casing from their normal makeup palette except for the “Clarins” word in the middle of course. It’s hard to take a nice, bright picture of the casing as the word just doesn’t pop out! I have to put down all the shades to take this picture. It’s not bright and clear but at least the word is visible now 🙂

A brief description of the mono eyeshadow and blush shade.
Mono Couleur #16 Pink Frost and #23 Silver Green is only 0.8g each. Meanwhile Blush Prodige #05 Rose Wood is 1.3g which is slightly more but still small for a blusher brush to swipe around.

The mini palette is such an adorable palette even just by looking at it makes me happy. It comes with a full size mirror and a mini applicator which I’ll not use. I’m used to applying my eyeshadow using a proper brush.

The color combination is exactly what I like in a palette. It’s shimmering but not too over. Soft color for the inner corner and darker color for the crease to outer corner. Blush is pinkish which is what I normally wear.  I also like that this palette only has 2 eyeshadow color and not 3 or 4 or even 5. Sometimes I just need a simple palette like this which doesn’t need much thinking but just apply. Perfect.

Here’s the swatch on the back of my hand. The color payoff is surprisingly good! I’ve read lots of good review and boy I wasn’t disappointed. It’s soft, smooth and easy to apply + blend. A swipe of these on top of a good eye primer will enhance the color more.

Here’s how it looks like on my lid. Sorry that the sun light is too bright that you can’t see very clearly on my lid. And I normally like to blend till the color soften so the color is not too intense on me.

Honestly Clarins makeup range is not that bad. It’s actually very good! If you are on the lookout for new makeup to buy, why not try Clarins. It’s really worth it.

Elite Cosmetics Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Review: Elite Paris Fantastic Primer

Sometime in November 2011, I attended Elite Cosmetics makeup launch in Malaysia and today I’m going to review one of the product which was given to me in the door gift bag.

I was delighted to received a Elite Fantastic Primer in my door gift bag as the MUA was promoting this during the makeover. Fantastic Primer comes in a 15ml glass bottle which is so hard that it didn’t broke when I accidentally dropped the bottle not once but 3 times lol! It is retailing at RM42.90. Elite cosmetics products are made in Italy and available exclusively at Watsons Malaysia. It is not available anywhere else as Watsons is the sole importer for the brand.

A make up base that matifies, hydrates and enegises. Hydration of the upper layers of the epidermis.

Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Dimenthicone Crosspolymer, PVP, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Laureth-7, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Parfum (Fragrance), Plankton Extract

There’s no written instruction on how to apply this.

This make up base or primer some might called it is in gel form. I’ve never use any gel form make up base before.

I usually pump about 3 to 4 pumps on my palm, warm it with both hands and gently apply onto my face after skin care and sun block. Sometimes I gently swipe on and sometimes I press onto my face. I wanted to try out which works better for my skin type and I find that it doesn’t make any different. This is how the gel looks like after spreading. It will melt into your skin as soon as you put it on your face. Which is pretty amazing.

Oh welllll, hmmm… on the first day I paired this with MUFE High Definition Foundation and it works well in making my face appear less oilier than usual. I’m not sure if it’s this make up base or it’s the foundation so I tried this with different foundation and sad to say this is not the one which has been making my face more matte than usual =(. For me it doesn’t hydrate or energise my skin. I have my Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Gel on which is doing the hydrating job for the skin.

1) Affordable for those who are new to make up.
2) Superb for normal skin type.
3) Scent-less and melt into skin immediately.
4) Available at Watsons stores which is easily to find.
5) Better in performance if to compare with Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector!

Not at the moment as I wanted to try other make up base in the market. My next try would be Laura Mercier ones.

Make Up - Face Review: Make Up Urban Decay

Review: Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray

If you remembered sometime beginning of December I bought Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray from my favourite eBay Malaysia seller. After using it for a good 2 weeks now, I’m ready for a review 🙂

Urban Decay De Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray 118ml – RM75 (Retail price RM109)

De-Slick absorbs excess sebum and deflects surface shine with state-of-the-art light dispersing particles. The problem-solving, hypoallergenic formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it endures ALL DAY. This is a patent pending Temperature Control Technology that actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place. The sprayer, unlike others on the market, delivers a micro-fine mist that distributes product evenly over the skin.

Review: Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

I received a trial size of Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch from recent tea party at Isetan KLCC sometime in October. Read here.

Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch is something which I wanted to try so much after reading from a makeup artist “must-have” from a magazine and unfortunately there’s no sample of this available. Fortunately for me, all attendees which RSVP for the tea party was given a trial size of this. I love it when Clarins change their free gift from time to time as I wanted to try other stuff.

The trial size I received is a cute miniature with only 4ml of content.

Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch 4ml

A short and sweet application instruction on the back of the jar.

The content is a smooth, non-sticky, waxy kind of cream. It’s odourless, light weighted with a lil hint of cooked yam colour. Yes it does look like cooked yam to me LOL.

The first time I used this I was WOW-ed by it. The first place I applied is onto my forehead line. I recently got this forehead line due to a bad bad method habit when I apply eye makeup :'(. Then I found out that I can also use this for large pores. So I tried it on my nose and once again I was amazed by the result.

Here’s some info from Clarins Malaysia website.

Beauty Benefits
Just like magic! This invisible ‘second skin’ base smoothes surface skin and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and dilated pores.

The perfect marriage of make-up and skin care for a really spectacular beauty effect. A magical melting, invisible texture which perfectly smoothes the skin by leaving an imperceptible veil over its surface. Wrinkles and fine lines are visually minimized to guarantee a flawless complexion.

Applications
-With the fingertips, apply a fine layer to the areas concerned (wrinkles, fine lines, dilated pores).
-Instant Smooth can be used alone or before make-up. In this case, wait a few minutes before applying foundation or powder.
-You can also mix Instant Smooth with your Clarins liquid foundation, for a guaranteed flawless complexion !

Active Ingredients
-Acacia Micro-Pearls sink into wrinkles and fine lines and increase in size as they absorb moisture naturally released by the skin, to smooth its surface. They also protect skin from dehydration.
-Plant key ingredients and Vitamin E protect the skin.

Alright, here’s the before and after photos. Do take note I applied everything in a rush for the below picture. Normally I’d take my sweet time so it doesn’t look like as messy as this ya.

Forehead
(Before)

(After)

Nose
(Before)

(After)

I am especially amazed with what this did to my nose! Foundation applies smoothly without the “strawberry” look nose. For some reason I didn’t apply this to my cheek. Only forehead and nose.

This is in my Holy Grail list. I do plan to purchase the full size item after trying the trial size 🙂

Clinique Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Review: Clinique Blended Face Powder #20 Invisible Blend

Disclaimer:- The method and sequence used below is based on my own routine and on what work’s for me.

I wear make up on weekday due to work but I tried not wearing any make up on weekends. However I’m still not used to going out to the public without a single strip of foundation on my face so I decided to get a loose powder and Clinique is what I chose.

Last weekend I tracked down a Clinique Blended Face Powder with Brush #20 Invisible Blend (4.5g) sample size for just RM34. I always love buying sample size make up and skin care as they’re adorable.

Info from Clinique website:
Clinique’s signature blended powder. Loose, lightweight texture is right for every type of skin. Sets and perfects makeup, makes pores seem to disappear. Airy, skin-hugging formula delivers a reliably flawless finish.

Skin Types: All
Formula: Loose powder
Coverage: Sheer
Benefits: Oil control, Natural skin-perfecting look, Mineral enriched

Products used today before brushing on the loose powder.

1. I cleanse my face with Clarins Purifying Cleansing Gel.
2. Applied Clarins White Plus HP Whitening Pure-Aqua Lotion.
3. Next is Clinique Repairwear Intensive Eye Cream.
4. Applied Clarins Shaping Facial Lift using Manual Auto-Lifting method.
5. Followed by Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase.
6. Next up is Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum to lock all the goodies in at the same time to minimize pore visibility and flawless skin.
7. Then I applied Clinique Repairwear Contour at my jaw and neck.
8. Lastly, I applied Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection Tinted Version.
9. I finished it off with Clinique Blended Face Powder with Brush #20 Invisible Blend.

A quick look on the set.

Clinique Blended Face Powder with Brush #20 Invisible Blend (4.5g) sample size.

The powder is in light brown. It’s quite full for a sample size.

The retractable brush bristle is very soft and work just like kabuki brush in my humble opinion. As I’m new to using loose powder, I took some time to get used to it.

I must say I’m pretty impressed with this. It does cover well but of course it couldn’t cover my pimple breakout lately and doesn’t cover my pores. My pores look so visible but that’s not the reason why I bought it so I’m not really bothered. If I want to cover up my pores, I’d use my 2-way foundation. It does make me look a bit white after application but once the powder sets in, it’s blended in with my skin tone.

Oil control is pretty good! I had a little shine on my nose after 6 hours of application. And I need not to blot as it’s very minimal.

Here’s the happy me. My blusher is too sheer and doesn’t appear well in the photo. Oppss.

Pros:
1) Good price for a huge trial item which comes with a brush!
2) Superb oil control loose powder and makeup stays matte all day with minimal blotting (1-2 times per day).
3) The powder is so fine and soft.
4) Brush included is soft and easy to use.

Cons: (although I couldn’t find any)
1) There’s a funny smell on the brush so I would suggest you to wash it first before using.
2) The powder is lightly scented. I couldn’t find the exact word for the scent but I don’t like it. Just hold you breath when you’re working with the brush near your nose? Lol.

I would definitely re-purchase this trial set when I finished this! It makes my makeup look so matte and I only need to blot maybe one to two times when I work and I need not worried about my face looking shiny all day long.

Make Up - Face Review: Make Up ZA

Review: ZA Skin Beauty Two-Way Foundation

I’m always curious at which two-way foundation that is the favourite among my friends and sometimes even pretty girls which I bump into while working or shopping. That is because I’ve been using ZA two-way foundation since I was in secondary school and I never look back since I found it. It’s pretty good and I didn’t have the reason to scout for other two-way foundation. And of course I spent quite some time trying and buying for the perfect shade of foundation and that was before I found ZA. It has been more than 14 years since then. Wow.

Recently (a few months back) I changed from True White (transparent refill case with blue writing) to Skin Beauty (pinkish refill case). Was just trying to try out other range of their famous two-way foundation. Anyway I changed the casing as well. I was getting bored with their previous blue squarish casing and finally I took out my limited edition casing which I got a few years back.

ZA Skin Beauty Two-Way Foundation in shade #22. The price fluctuate according to sales and special promos in store so I can’t tell exactly what price is it. But last week I purchased a spare to keep at RM26.80 and I got shade #21 as #22 is a bit dark for me now.

Limited Edition casing in silverish gold which I got as a gift for buying a twin pack of the foundation some time ago.
